Up for auction is a beautiful 1996 Cadillac DeVille.  I am selling this for my parents.  They have owned it for around 5 years and have had the car serviced and maintained as required, including the replacement of certain parts. They bought it as a second car but now my dad does not drive as much these days so they only need one car.

This car in this color really stands out.  You just don't see many in this color and it has the older, more sought- after Cadillac styling, before they went with the angular styling.

Car has plenty of power and the transmission shifts smoothly as if it were new, and the passing gear will really put you back in your seat for a large vehicle.  All of the features in this car work, all of the dashboard diagnostic information works. Air Conditioning and heat work excellent as do all the power seats, window, and electric trunk pull down.  AC was serviced and the large part in the firewall was replaced (I think it is the condenser). This was a labor intensive job that you don't have to worry about.  Also serviced were the brakes and some brake lines were replaced. The alternator was replaced and the battery is brand new (1000 CCA Duralast Gold). The tires are in excellent condition.  One of them is a blackwall because that particular tire got a flat and they did not have the thin whitewall style in stock. So that is a new blackwall tire and the other three are fairly new whitewalls under three years old with less than 5,000 miles on them in my estimation.  Body has no rust and underneath is solid too. Car was garaged so that may be why the body is in such good shape.  Owners do not smoke.  Interior smells nice, not musty or anything like that.

See pictures for rest of the description.  Look at the condition of this car. The body and undercarriage seem to defy aging.  This car has the beautiful "ragtop" roof and upper door trim which adds to its beauty.

The body is almost perfect but has one or two dings (that you'd be hard pressed to find), and almost unnoticeable scratches here and there from normal use. There is a mark on the cloth top that I did not try to remove for fear of the color running. Headliner is nice and there is no water leakage inside the vehicle. Car is very quiet inside and glass is perfect.  Stereo and cassette player work, though some speakers should be replaced due to their age.  I believe this car to have cruise control (I checked that feature in the auction listing) but I am not 100% sure. If it does, I don't think we ever used it. This car likes to be piloted.

Issues: This car is my parents' car. It has 82,000 miles on it and runs, looks, and drives great. Just this winter it started leaking a little oil(after sitting for a while since they don't use it in the snow and we've had a lot of snow) which is common for the Northstar engine. I dried the bottom of the motor a few weeks ago and it only dripped a few drops since. Also, if the car is not used for a while, the battery sometimes loses charge (common for these cars and can be easily remedied). The latter is an easy fix and I was going to fix it for them but now they are selling it so the next owner can fix it if desired. The oil leak could be costly (or not) but does not have to be addressed now whatsoever.  This car can be used as a regular driver in the condition it is in right now.  I have driven it from time to time and it is so comfortable and fun to drive.  With the large interior, all occupants are comfortable, unlike some of today's so-called luxury cars that skimp on space. The rear auto leveling works as is should too.

Note: Contents in trunk are not part of the auction. I left them in there so you can see how much it holds.

If you want to see the car in person, email me and I will coordinate a visit with my parents.  Any questions you may have, I will do my best to answer them. If I don't know the answer I will ask may folks and then email you back so I may need a day to get back to you but I will do my best.

Note: CAR IS FOR SALE LOCALLY AS WELL. SO IF IT SELLS LOCALLY, I WILL END THE AUCTION DUE TO THE CAR BEING SOLD LOCALLY.

Bid with Confidence as I have 100% feedback.

2018 Lincoln Navigator vs luxury SUV rivals: How it compares on paper

Wed, Nov 8 2017

The all-new 2018 Lincoln Navigator is an impressive, luxury-lined beast. However, while its Black Label interior stood out most during our first drive of the new Navigator, it also seemed pretty clear that much of this full-size SUV was superior to the competition in a number of fundamental ways. Its Raptor-sourced 3.5-liter V6 had class-leading power for one, and its third-row seat seemed as spacious and comfortable as its rivals' are cramped and barely usable. To search for your next new vehicle, try Autoblog' s Car Finder. Yet, I wanted to take a closer look at how the Navigator fully compares on paper to its competitors - especially the Cadillac Escalade with which it most directly competes. The below spreadsheet should tell the whole story, but as you can see, there's an awful lot of class-leading green highlighter in the Navigator's column. The cargo volume and third-row legroom numbers are particularly telling, with the latter actually going up to 42.3 inches when you slide the second-row fully forward. Now, a few things to note about the above spreadsheet. The GLS-Class is also available as the GLS 550, which boasts a 4.7-liter V8 that just comes up short to the Navigator with 449 horsepower but has to deal with only 5,578 pounds. Its $94,950 price tag is comparable to the Navigator Black Label. Much of the LX 570's information is also applicable to the Toyota Land Cruiser, which, badge aside, could certainly be considered a member of this segment given its feature content and still-hefty price tag. It has better ground clearance and approach/departure angles than its Lexus sibling, along with an as-indicated lower price. Much of the Escalade's information also applies to the GMC Yukon Denali, while the Infiniti QX80 is applicable to the Nissan Armada. Fullsize GM SUVs have a problem that's making owners sick

Thu, Dec 31 2015

Some fullsize SUV owners are getting sick, thanks to a buffeting and vibration problem in 2015 model year examples of the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, Cadillac Escalade, and GMC Yukon. According to owners' complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the issue can vary from an annoying vibration inside the cabin to an experience so severe that it leads to dizziness and headaches. General Motors is aware of the complaints, but the fix isn't so simple. According to spokesperson Tom Wilkinson to Autoblog, the company "has been tracking this issue for a while." The problem has a fairly low incidence rate, but when it does occur the issue can be "uncomfortable and annoying for owners." There's no precise cause for the issue, Wilkinson claims, and in some cases, simply balancing the tires or changing the door seals can make it go away. However, not all of the fixes are so simple. AutoGuide dug deep into the problem and discovered a GM preliminary information bulletin that advised dealers to remove the headliner and to check the roof's bonds to the bows that go across the vehicle. However, that document included a note that the solution might not entirely eliminate things. According to AutoGuide, adding Dynamat insulation to the roof sometimes helped the problem. A GM spokesperson also told AutoGuide the company fixed the problem at the end of the 2015 model year, and didn't go into any more detail. This roof issue seems linked to some of the worst droning in these SUVs. According to one complaint from a 2015 Suburban owner to NHTSA: "Roof will not remain attached to the roof bows. This causes the buffeting similar to a window being down when all are up. The results span from annoying to painful." A 2015 Yukon owner claims to have another alleged cause for the problem in a NHTSA complaint from February 2015. This person brought their SUV to the dealer seven times over the course of four weeks for vibrations. The dealer replaced the driveshaft, suspension components, and more, but nothing worked. According to an engineer to the service adviser: "In an effort to prevent roll overs, they designed the frame and body mounts too stiff. There are 40 engineers working on issues, they have no solutions that work across the board." Wilkinson told Autoblog that GM is working with customers on an individual basis to rectify things. Since these are newer vehicles, dealers should also fix the problem under warranty.

Meet the next president's new Beast, a giant bomb-proof limo

Fri, Jan 22 2016

We don't know who will be our president in 2017, but now we have a better idea of how that person will be transported on land. The next presidential limo, officially referred to as the presidential state car, will be another Cadillac. And a big one. You're looking at a lone spy photo of a car that will be of high interest to actual spies – not to mention Secret Service agents and lots of law-enforcement types. President Obama has been riding around in a Cadillac nicknamed The Beast for a while now. (It recently made an appearance on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.) Over the Secret Service radios, it goes by Cadillac One and Limo One. While the current car looks like a stretched Cadillac DTS sedan, it's actually kind of huge and built on a Chevrolet Kodiak medium-duty truck chassis. The same is likely to be true again, but this one will look a lot more like the latest Cadillac models. Through the camo we can see a front end reminiscent of the new CT6 large sedan. Imagine one of those scaled to about 5/3 of the production car and you've got the right idea. Fun fact: It will be the first presidential limo to feature Caddy's new wreathless crest logo on its grille. View 6 Photos As for features, we're in the dark and will remain so even after the new president-mover goes into service. The details are a legitimate matter of national security, but you can bet it's bulletproof, can withstand small bombs, and has some kind of onboard secondary air supply in case of a chemical or biomedical warfare attack. Oh, and it has that big red phone in back in the event things get really bad. The new one will no doubt carry the latest communications and safety technology. The new presidential limousine has been in the works for some time. The government sent out a request for proposals in 2013, and this model is expected to go into service sometime in 2017. Chances are it will make its debut at the inauguration of [INSERT CONTROVERSIAL NAME HERE] in about a year's time. Related Video:
