1967 Cadillac DeVille Convertible
One owner, low miles (52,000) , National award winner

It is not very often when you can buy a quality vehicle that has remained with one owner/ family for 47 years and has a documented full history. This is just that vehicle.

This spectacular car has been treated like a family member since it was purchased back in 1967.  We hate to finally part with it, but garage space will soon be gone and my grandson has no interest in cars. What a shame!  This is a fantastic car for the lover of Cadillacs, convertibles and quality restoration work that has kept it close to original as possible. This is truly a beautiful example of a very low mileage 1967 Cadillac DeVille convertible.  This car has been photographed for books, won awards at National Cadillac Meets and been pictured in major auto magazines. It has never been smoked in. This car has been in the National Cadillac-LaSalle Club since 1985 and carefully follows the authenticity manuals.

I have supplied numerous pictures of the car and many more are available for serious buyers, upon request . They will show it as it is today as well as some pictures of its history and prior work that was done on it. Just ask and I will send them. I welcome questions about its past and condition. It is not absolutely "perfect", but just about everything has been taken care of and it shows beautifully. These cars always need something...even if only to make it slightly nicer and satisfy your pride.  That's what having a classic is all about!  You would never recoup the amount of money spent over the years.

A little bit of the car's history:

1.July 1967: Purchased from Mel Gooch Cadillac in Utica, New York and immediately driven to Washington, DC where it spends the next 11 years (1967-1978) garaged at a DC Embassy house and home of the Executive Director of the Sons of the American Revolution.  It was used occasionally, since the Embassy supplied a car. I have a picture of the car in front of Embassy in 1967.
2.1978-1988: Car was re-located to Houston, Texas when my father-in-law retired. Again the car was only used when Sunday drives were desired and the weather was right. He had an air conditioned garage to combat the humid Houston summers. He preferred his Toyota truck to do daily work related things. He didn't want to get the Caddy dirty!
3.1988: My father-in-law passed away and I took ownership of the vehicle and drove it to Philadelphia where I lived at the time. I joined the Cadillac-LaSalle Club and have been a member ever since. Great organization. Mileage at the time was about 24,000.
4.1988-89: A major cosmetic restoration was done that took about 5 months. It included a professional factory, quality re-paint in the original white color, re-chroming of some items, and other cosmetic upgrades. Mechanically it was perfect. The car was disassembled to make sure there was no rust inside fenders , doors, trunk, etc.  I have pictures of the work available. Numerous car shows followed, where it won many trophies in local events.
5.1989: The first time I displayed the car at a Cadillac Grand National Meet in Boston, MA it won a 2nd place.
6.1991: The next Cadillac Grand National I went to was in Cincinnati, OH and the Cadillac got a 1st place in its class.
7.1993-1996 :Moved to the Boston area and got a 3rd place at the 1991 Cadillac Grand National in Albany, NY.
8.1996: This car was featured on the cover of the Self-Starter (National Cadillac –LaSalle Club Magazine). Picture of magazine cover is available.
9.1996-2000: Moved to Columbia, SC and had the engine totally re-built in 1997. All the receipts are available and will be provided. The engine was removed and just about everything, but the block , was replaced. Mileage at this time was about 32,500.
10.2001-2014: Moved to the Charleston, SC area (Kiawah Island) and have continued to perform regular maintenance. Car has been shown at several local high-end , concours meets.

Over the years this 47 year old classic has received lots of premier maintenance. I have always tried to keep it “original” and never put anything on or in the vehicle that didn't come from the factory. When possible, only GM parts are used. If it needed something, we never waited till it got bad, we just fixed it. The Caddy was never in an accident in 47 years, so only items that wore out or maintenance items were fixed. The engine compartment has recently been professionally detailed, and it shows real nice.  This car always starts even after months of sitting in the air conditioned garage. It has a very clean under-body with only normal light road dirt. Numbers match. Transmission is very smooth. It comes with a vinyl top cover (and storage bag) for  covering the convertible top when it's down and it has the original jack, tools and spare tire. The following is a list of the major things done to the car:
Professional off body re-painting and re-chroming of many items (1988-89)
Complete Engine re-build (1996-7)
Rear springs and four shocks (1999)
New Carpet (1989)
New engine fan (2012)
Latest set of New tires ( 2012)
Latest New battery (2014)
Re-balance drive shaft (1999)
New brakes (2011)
New radiator (2012)
New gas tank (1997)
New muffler/tail pipe (2009)
New exhaust manifolds (1997)
New Front suspension/ tie rods, ball joints, idler arms, control arms (2001)
Replaced Weather stripping (doors, roof rail, trunk, body mounts, and hood bumpers) (2001)
New original factory type Convertible top with glass window (2004)
New A/C system -evaporator, dash control unit , blower motor and compressor (2009)
Windshield washer motor (2001)
Master cylinder (2009)
Power brake booster (2009)
Heater core (2009)
New window regulator and electric motor in drivers side door (2014)
New front seat belts (1999)
All belts, hoses and fluids changed regularly.

I would consider this a really nice #2 condition car. It is driven and not trailered.  Current mileage of 52,056 reflects only about 1100 miles per year. I have many spare parts, Cadillac body and service manuals, as well as other Cadillac items that will go with the car, as well as pretty much all the maintenance records and prior registrations/titles to document the mileage. This car enjoys road trips, swap meets, drive-ins, car shows, and just cruising around town to get admiring glances. I even have the official factory build sheet showing the options on the car, the date it was built and other info.

I always get questions like these.  Here are the answers. If you have more, please ask.
The glass is perfect, the body is laser straight, there is no rust, there are no water leaks and yes, the convertible top is correct (a glass window, not plastic). Top mechanism is original and still works fine. Dash has no cracks. Body panels fit as close to perfect as they can. Yes, it even has the small tiny chrome spear on the front license frame (most cars have lost this.....very rare).

Since I said it is not perfect, here are just a few smaller items that I have not gotten to yet:

1. The clock has stopped working. I have a replacement which I will give to the new owner.
2. The A/C will need a re-charge....went out on last trip to Jacksonville.
3. The floor mounts of the power front seat need to be tightened. (It has a slight rocking back and forth)
4. Original AM/FM Radio works fine, but sometimes the station dial sticks when you move it to change stations. Buttons work fine and automatic antenna works as it should. Rear speaker sometimes shuts off (must be loose wire).
5. I will supply a new rear taillight chrome bezel to replace the one on the car that has a few scratches.
6. Edge of drivers seat has some small wear on piping.

You can drive it anywhere or have it shipped. I just did a round trip to Jacksonville, Florida (about 500 miles) without any issues.(except the a/c stopped on the last 50 miles!) . Engine always runs cool, never overheats. Cruises at 75 for hours with hardly any effort. The 429 CI engine that puts out 340 HP does the trick and , surprisingly, the gas mileage was about 17 MPG. I will be happy to work with your shipper. I have a perfect eBay rating. Best of luck bidding.

Cadillac Super Cruise needs subscription after free trial period

Sun, Aug 16 2020

Not long ago, Motor Trend broke the news that Cadillac's Super Cruise is only free for the first three years, after which the Level 2 autonomy system moves to subscription pricing. MT's report came on the eve of 2018-model-year Cadillac CT6 buyers being asked whether they wished to retain access to their Super Cruise. A few days after that report, Cadillac said it would give those first-year buyers of the technology — "the helpful adopters" — another free year, so they'll need to make a decision in August 2021 along with the 2019MY CT6 buyers. After a bit of digging by other outlets, it seems Motor Trend broke the Super Cruise news primarily to members of the media (including us); the details in the report have been communicated to customers in fine print in at least two places. First, let's clarify that the subscription is for OnStar, not Super Cruise only. Cadillac has made clear since the beginning that the tech needs an active OnStar plan, a Wi-Fi Hotspot, a working electrical system, cell reception, and a GPS signal to work. Knowing that, and knowing OnStar is only free for one month on new vehicles — GM shortened the free trial last year from three or six months — before requiring a subscription, might have encouraged someone to ask the question before now (we didn't...). In response to Jonathan Gitlin at Ars Technica asking Twitter about who knew, Bozi Tatarevic responded, "It might not have been released in the press materials but I remember reading about it in the order guide documents for the CT6 and noting that it was tied to OnStar and would eventually require a plan that started at like $25 per month." And Tatarevic pointed to this snippet in The Philadelphia Inquirer review of the CT6 from 2018: "The Super Cruise feature is part of OnStar and is free for three years. OnStar advertises subscriptions from $24.99 to $59.99 a month." If Super Cruise is only free as long as OnStar is free, then new car buyers now will get the tech for one month. Owners who cancel OnStar or choose a plan that doesn't include Super Cruise will still benefit from adaptive cruise control and lane-centering.   The automaker hasn't said what Super Cruise pricing will be, but the OnStar site apparently reveals the answer. There are six plans listed on the Compare Plans page, but two are combinations of other plans.

Weekly Recap: Cadillac's crossover blitz hinges on the 2017 XT5

Sat, Nov 14 2015

Cadillac's aggressive new cadence of crossovers begins next spring with the arrival of the 2017 XT5, the first of four new utility vehicles that Cadillac will unleash in a bid to win more customers and revitalize its image. The XT5 replaces the aging SRX, and it's the first SUV to use the brand's new naming scheme (cars will use the corresponding CT prefix). Billed as the cornerstone of Cadillac's remade crossover lineup, the XT5 will join showrooms right after Caddy's new flagship, the CT6 sedan. It will be on display next week at the Los Angeles auto show after first appearing this month at the Dubai motor show. "It's pivotal to our ongoing growth, which is why we've developed XT5 from the inside out to provide customers more space, more technology, more luxury, and more efficiency," Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen said in a statement. "Pivotal" is almost understating the XT5 and the red-hot midsize crossover segment. The SRX is Cadillac's top seller in 2015, posting a 25-percent increase and its 56,732 units (up 25 percent) are more than one third of the brand's 141,090 sales this year. Yes, the totals have been partially incentive-fueled, and Cadillac put an average of $7,225 on the SRX's hood in October, according to TrueCar data. Still, it's an impressive performance for any vehicle, especially one that's had few major changes since the new generation launched as a 2010 model. "The SRX has been selling very well, given how late in the lifecycle it is," AutoPacific product analysis manager Dave Sullivan told Autoblog. It outsold the all-new MKX last month and really only trails the Lexus RX. This is the volume model for Cadillac and dealers need this to be a grand slam, not just a home run." Cadillac is adamant the XT5 isn't an SRX re-skin. It has a new chassis, more interior room, and adds features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Thanks to a new structure, the XT5 sheds 278 pounds compared with its predecessor, which should improve fuel economy and driving character. The crossover uses General Motors' latest 3.6-liter V6 rated at 310 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque, and it is fortified with variable-valve timing, cylinder-deactivation, and stop-start features. The V6 will team with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a twin-clutch all-wheel-drive system than can summon all of the torque distribution to the front or rear axles. Cadillac will also sell a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder model in China.

Lexani Motorcars unveils plans for 2021 Cadillac Escalade Mobile Offices

Sun, Mar 29 2020

Lexani Motorcars is an aftermarket shop that specializes in high-end luxury customizations for a variety of large SUVs and vans. The Corona, Calif. company aims for business-class-type vehicles, rather than "Pimp My Ride" hack jobs, and has recently been working on 30-inch extended mobile office conversions, among other projects. Up next: the 2021 Cadillac Escalade. Lexani Motorcars, not to be confused with Lexani wheels, took to Instagram to show off a vision for a custom office setup for the new-generation 2021 Escalade. Cadillac's large SUV would be extended by 30 inches and outfitted with a plethora of over-the-top luxury options. Lexani's most extreme additions include armoring, but their toys don't have to be that serious. The most immediately noticeable feature in the Escalade is the starlight headliner. Similar to what's seen in certain modern Rolls-Royces, the starry ceiling is not necessarily a new feature for Lexani Motorcars, but the design has evolved. This most recent interpretation looks like it has a specialized design, possibly one that mimics a real part of the sky.  The Mobile Office includes four massive captain's chairs, each of which has motorized functionality and quilted leather. In between each set of seats is an integrated iPad tablet, and more are seen built into the walls of the SUV. Each seat also has a fold-out desk and foot rests for reclining.  Furthermore, the Mobile Offices include hideaway big-screen TVs that pop up behind the rear seats. Other options include satellite, curtains or shades for the windows, custom trim pieces made out of high-end materials such as carbon fiber or real metals, cooled storage for drinks, and storage compartments for libation stemware. Lexani Motorcars does not list a price, as each car is configured per the customer, and it does not mention when the new Escalades will become a reality. The Escalade was originally estimated to launch in late 2020, but it's unclear whether or not that will be affected by the current production stoppages due to coronavirus.           View this post on Instagram                   Now accepting pre-orders on 2021 Escalade Mobile Offices ?
