1963 Cadillac Deville Base Sedan 4-door 6.4l on 2040-cars
Portland, Oregon, United States
We took this Caddy in on trade from a gentleman that has owned it for over 30 years. It has been stored indoors for almost all of that. The only visible rust is on the passenger side end cap of the front bumper (see pics). Other than some surface rust here and there and a little bubbling under the (new looking) top, it is pretty much rust free. No cancer in the floor boards or door sills- nothing like that at all.
The body is incredibly straight and according to the previous owner- 100% free of bondo. We've poked around and believe that to be true. The engine is the original 390ci and runs great. It drives down the road very well and stops even better due to extensive brake work done somewhat recently. All the missing trim pieces that belong on this car are all in the bundle you can see in the pictures. According to the previous owner "every piece of trim that came on this Cadillac when it was new, is all bundled in the trunk". "Even the cardboard trunk liner is still there". Although we have not laid everything out to check (there is quite a lot of it), his statements appear to be true. Also included with this car are BOTH original state of Oregon license plates issued in 1963. Two original keys from Cadillac. Factory air horns- installed and are LOUD, plus all types of other cool stuff I'm forgetting. All this car really needs is paint and interior work. It starts, runs, drives stops great. This is a golden opportunity for someone to make some serious profit or to make themselves a very cool classic cruiser. Good luck! |

Next Cadillac Escalade interior will have Mercedes-like screens
Tue, Jul 23 2019Not too long ago, we thought we got a glimpse at the next-generation Cadillac Escalade's interior. But as we have learned from the spy photographer who took it, those are actually for a different full-size GM SUV, probably the GMC Yukon. How can we know this? Well, that same photographer caught this SUV, and it has a fancier interior and a key Cadillac interior piece that proves this is actually the Cadillac interior. The big difference with this interior is the instrument cluster and infotainment system. The previous SUV we saw had a pretty conventional interior with plenty of buttons, a screen at the top of the center stack, and an instrument cluster under a plastic hood. On this presumed Cadillac SUV, it has one large monolith containing screens for instruments and infotainment. It's very much like what you'll find in Mercedes-Benz models. Unlike in Mercedes cars, this bank of screens appears to have some curve to it, orienting everything toward the driver. Besides the fancy screens that point to Cadillac, the shifter also clinches this as the Cadillac interior. It's the same monostable lever found in the latest Cadillacs such as the XT6 and CT5. Much of the rest of the interior has been pretty well covered. But we can tell that Cadillac is using some nice wood trim that appears to stretch across the dashboard. The dash itself also looks as though it will be rather low and minimalist. Like past Escalades, this will probably share most of its mechanicals with the Tahoe/Suburban, meaning it too will be making the long overdue switch to independent rear suspension. It will also likely continue to offer the 6.2-liter V8 and 10-speed automatic transmission as the only powertrain choice. We should see the new SUVs in the next couple of years.
GM announces net 220 job increase as Trump visits Michigan
Wed, Mar 15 2017GM announced today that about 900 jobs would be added (or, importantly, retained) ahead of President Trump's arrival in Michigan, where he is expected to discuss his plan to roll back fuel economy standards. The timing of the announcement is almost certainly not coincidental, as appending it to a Trump visit gives it a higher profile and dovetails with the President's jobs agenda. It's less likely the decision itself was made for those reasons, but the free PR boost is a nice bonus. As for those 900 jobs themselves, they aren't all new jobs. The only net gain is approximately 220 jobs at the Romulus Powertrain Plant, which produces the 10-speed automatic transmission that's proliferating through the company's lineup. The 180 jobs at Flint Assembly and 500 jobs at Lansing Delta Township are retained jobs – that is to say, spots the company found for workers who would otherwise have been laid off. By the way, the Flint jobs will help with production of heavy-duty pickups, and the Lansing jobs are to produce the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave. Finding jobs for manufacturing workers in the auto sector, whether new or retained, is admirable. No matter how GM couches it, the company has created or retained a total of 7,000 jobs this year, and its total reinvestment in US production is around $1 billion. But these decisions are business ones, not political ones – timing the announcements to make them seem inspired by economic policy, or the political situation, is simply smart PR. Cadillac ParkWhiz app helps avoid endless circling to find parking
Sat, Jul 20 2019General Motors recently launched an app for its vehicles called Marketplace that includes various apps that let you order and pay for things from your car. The company is continuing to add apps to Marketplace, and the latest sounds quite useful. It's called ParkWhiz, and it will be available on Cadillacs. Basically, it lets you find and pay for parking from your car. In more detail, ParkWhiz will let you find parking in 250 cities. The app shows locations that have spaces available and which are full, along with prices for all of them. You can then select one and pay for it for however long you'll use it. You can even reserve parking in advance in case you're going to a busy event. The big benefit here is that you should be able to eliminate a lot of cruising around looking for spaces. That will save you time and money. Additionally, this could save you from having to go really early to an event to find decent parking. It's a handy sounding app, and fortunately, if you don't have a Cadillac, you can get the app on your phone. The only downside to the phone app is that it's not built into the car's infotainment system.
