1958 Cadillac Coupe Deville Two Door Hardtop on 2040-cars
Napa, California, United States
This 1958 Cadillac Coupe DeVille is fantastic. The color change from white to the deep red was done back in around 1980 and still has excellent gloss finish today. This restoration has had a lot of years and still shows like it was just recently done. The car was original white with rose interior. Now the red and white combination give it fantastic crowd appeal. The car was driven by the owner to many shows in through the 80’s. As he got older, he decided to pass the car along to the next caretaker. I was able to purchase the car from him for one of my car-guy buddies and it ended up being put away in the early 1990’s until now. So, it came out of being privately held and came to me to be gone-over, detailed and made ready for a new caretaker. I added the modern power brake booster conversion, rebuilt the brake system and pulled the engine apart to freshen it up. Heads were serviced with new valves and all the related engine parts checked, rebuilt or replaced. The headliner had some small damage so I replaced that as well. You can see the car looks amazing. My niece asked to use it at her wedding a few weeks ago. I drove it up to the wedding 60 to 70 MPH and it drove like a Cadillac! There are new tires on the NICE Saber Wheels. The spare in the trunk is not a Saber, but I MAY have an extra to include. The chrome and potmetal are nice- The front bumper upper ends have some small poor spots where the water settles when draining off the hood. LOOK CLOSE at photos! Exterior trim and emblems are very good, the rear trunk plastic insert is cracked. Look Close! Inside trunk is carpeted in red with the side covers also in red. And a spare tire cover in white. The original 58 Cadillac jack, wood wedge and jacking instructions are in place. Floors, chassis and rockers are the BEST I have ever seen on a 58! NO rust damage and NO repaired floors. Never undercoated! This is wonderfully original metal on this Cadillac. Original Air Conditioning is all in place, BUT I have not charged it to see if it works. YES< the compressor clutch works. This car was originally ordered with air suspension but is now on springs. All the windows work great. The 6-way power seat works fine. Heater works, clock does not. Antenna and radio—Good question! I need to go check these. I have MANY photos I am HAPPY to send. I also have a road-test video. I would like to have them here, but I don't know how to get them attached to my listing. Please ask for ANY details, I know how difficult it can be to come see the car, so I am very willing to send you ANY information or photos you would like to see. I know how some sellers make it impossible to get information from, not me—You ask, I provide. I sure would like to hang on to this one, but I already have so MANY cars, I don’t have time to enjoy most of them. I know this car has been put away far too long (not by me) and deserves better. I want to know it will go to a good active car-guy that will get it out and drive it as it should be. I do have the car advertised locally and have offers. But I want to be sure that all these guys have a chance and don’t want any hard feelings here, so I told them all they have to watch the listing and decide if they think the offers they have made are good enough for this Excellent 1958 Coupe DeVille. |

Cadillac's de Nysschen won't budge on raised pricing
Thu, 18 Sep 2014According to new Cadillac boss Johan de Nysschen, it will take between 10 and 15 years to elevate GM's top brand, which was once hailed as "The Standard Of The World," back to prominence in the minds of American customers. And to hear the executive talk of it, the brand is going to have to be willing to see sales falter in the near-term before they recover:
"Either you have to bring your volume aspirations into alignment with reality and accept that you will sell fewer cars... Or you have to drop the price and continue to transact at the prices where you were historically... I think the logical conclusion is that it's better to build off a very solid base in terms of [product] credibility, charge a fair price for the car and realize you have to wait until the volume comes."
In other words, sales will fall before they rise, and the brand has to be okay with that. Notice, too, that de Nysschen speaks of "a fair price" for Cadillac cars and utility vehicles. In this case, "fair" means more than many of the brand's traditional buyers are accustomed to, and roughly in line with the brands and machines Cadillac believes it is competing against. For instance, the newly enlarged 2014 CTS carries a suggested retail price that is over $6,000 higher than it was in 2013, and some trim levels boast an even higher price premium over the models they replace.
Cadillac sales chief Peffer resigns amidst slow sales
Fri, 20 Jun 2014Cadillac continues to hemorrhage executives, as it's just seen its fourth high-level departure in the past year. Vice President of Global Strategic Development Don Butler (who defected to Ford) and European President and Managing Director Susan Docherty both left the company of their own volition, while Chase Hawkins, Cadillac's vice president of sales and service, was fired following a "violation of policy" in July of 2013. Strangely, it's Hawkins' replacement, Bill Peffer (shown above), who has handed in his papers this time around.
"Bill left to pursue other interests. Kurt McNeil replaces him, effective immediately," spokesman David Caldwell told Autoblog via email.
McNeil last held the VP of sales and service position back in 2012. He's currently the vice president of US sales for all of General Motors. According to The Detroit News, McNeil will take on the post in what is likely an interim capacity.
2020 Cadillac XT6 Sport First Drive Review | An unexpectedly strong performer
Mon, Jul 29 2019Cadillac is in an unenviable position right now. Over the past few years, it developed some excellent driving sedans just in time for the world to demand nothing but crossovers. Now it’s working fast to get more crossovers on the market besides the XT5. Its latest is the 2020 Cadillac XT6, a large three-row luxury crossover designed to slide under the enormous Escalade and provide less truck-like driving characteristics. And while it has an underwhelming wrapper, itÂ’s actually a refined, capable and spacious luxury crossover. Still, it must be emphasized that the Cadillac XT6 does not make a strong first impression. The Escalade is brash, bold and above all, big. That's exactly what's been historically expected from Cadillac, but the XT6 just looks like any three-row crossover with some creased lights and lines that help make it look like a Cadillac. ItÂ’s not ugly, but it's not memorable, either. The interior is a mixed bag. The materials are impressive, with interior panels covered in leather and suede in a loaded Premium Luxury version we drove (we haven't had a chance to see a base version). The other trim level, the Sport, gets real carbon fiber trim thatÂ’s made more interesting with copper wires woven into the material for a metallic glint. ThereÂ’s real metal trim throughout, too, from the shift paddles to the nicely weighted infotainment and volume knobs. Unfortunately, the actual dash design looks uninspired and even a little cheap. This is something that weÂ’ve noticed on many GM vehicles, and what seems to be the culprit is that every panel is oddly chunky and blunt. There are no crisp or sharp edges, no thin details, no "wow" moments. The seats arenÂ’t particularly impressive either, as theyÂ’re flat and not very supportive. More lumbar and bolstering would help. The interior is at least spacious, with loads of head, leg and shoulder room in the first two rows. The third-row seat is even usable by adults, at least for short trips since head- and legroom are tight and the seat itself is low. It's similar to what you'd find in the more expensive BMW X7, but less than a Buick Enclave or most non-luxury three-row crossovers. Access to the third row is quite good thanks to the far-sliding second row, and it folds away into the cargo floor at the push of a button at either rear door. There are also USB outlets for every seating position, another thoughtful touch. Once the Cadillac XT6 is on the road, it has some impressive aspects.
