Up for auction is a great looking 1971 Buick Skylark GS-350 Clone. Yes it is not a real GS. But it has all the equipment a GS would have. The hood is a real steel Buick hood with hood scoops off a 70 model. It also has the air cleaner and housing from that same 70 GS. The best part may be that it was a hood from the factory with a tach that works. Yes it is a reproduction tach but the hood was built for one. The engine was totally rebuilt for more horsepower than she originally had in 1971. She has an aftermarket camshaft that has just a touch of lope in the idle and makes great power even from lower RPM's. There is a T/A Stage One intake on this car with a Holley carburetor. There is also a modern electronic distributor for reliability. There is also a new dual exhaust system and it has a great sound. I have the receipts for the rebuild on this engine. The transmission was rebuilt at the same time and has a shift kit installed. Everything was done with reliability in mind since this was always intended to be a nice driver.
The body work was finished and this car has a recent coat of GM Victory Red applied. It is not the original color to the car but it is very striking. I think the car looks excellent as it is but if you wanted the slick show car look you could buff the car. Personally I would not since this is the perfect driver as-is. There are four brand new BF Goodrich 15" radial T/A's on factory GSX 15" wheels. Those alone are very rare. The rear spoiler is a Buick factory item and also very rare. I have all the side emblems new and will include them with the sale of the car. I kind of like the slick look and have not installed them yet.
The interior has been restored to factory colors of black and white. The front seat was rebuilt and a new cover installed. There are also new door panels along with new door rubber. All of the rubber has been renewed on the car including on the convertible top. The top itself has a couple tears and should be replaced. They are not terrible and the top is usable as-is but I would replace in order to complete the restoration.
In short this is a wonderful GM A body convertible that would make a great driver so you could save that expensive GS for the shows. Everybody knows that 68 to 72 GM A body convertibles in decent shape are getting both hard to find and expensive. Have you priced a Chevelle lately? This Skylark is priced for the everyday guy to be able to afford and you can immediately take her to the car show or cruise in.
Now for the "other" stuff. If you have less than a +5 feedback rating please email me before you bid or I will delete your bid. I know we all started somewhere and I will work with you. Just please let me know. If you are local I encourage you to come look at the car or if not send an appraiser. It is one very nice car and the pictures do not do her justice. Next I will not reveal my reserve nor will I end the auction early. Neither are fair to the honest bidders out there. The reserve is reasonable for a car of this quality. Have you priced a paint job in Victory Red lately? Next the buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. Finally I have tried to show and tell you as much as I can think of about this Skylark. I am sure you have more questions so please ask away. This car will not leave my property until paid in full and is being sold as-is. Once she leaves my property she is all yours. Thanks so much for viewing my auction!!

Buick confirms US-market Envision CUV to be built in China
Fri, Dec 4 2015As expected, the Buick Envision will come to the US market in 2016, and as rumored, it'll be GM's first product imported from the People's Republic. Buick confirmed the news today, while also releasing a number of technical details on the mid-size CUV, which has sold nearly 130,000 units in the Chinese domestic market in the first 11 months of 2015. When it arrives in US dealers next summer, the Envision will feature a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder EcoTec four-cylinder. Good for an estimated 252 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, the four-pot turbo is paired to a well-received six-speed Hydra-Matic 6T70 transmission. That's the same automatic gearbox that's offered in the turbocharged Regal and Regal GS and the current six-cylinder LaCrosse. The entire affair is underpinned by torque-steer-fighting HiPer strut front suspension, a crossover first for Buick, with a four-link setup in back. According to Buick, the Envision will also get the same Active Twin Clutch all-wheel-drive system being offered on the Cadillac XT5 and the new LaCrosse. Like the Chinese-market Envision, Buick is offering the USDM model with active grille shutters, LED running lights, LED taillights, heated front/rear seats, a heated steering wheel, 19-inch wheels, and a Bose stereo as standard. Buick also lists highlights like Active Noise Cancellation and an eight-inch IntelliLink infotainment system, although it's not clear whether these are standard features. There's no word on which auto show the Envision will debut at. Considering the timing, next month's Detroit Auto Show is a strong contender, although if Buick wanted to really drum up headlines ahead of its on-sale date next summer, it'd formally introduce its newest CUV in April, at the New York Auto Show. Either way, expect to see more of this handsome, Chinese-built CUV soon. Related Video: Buick Envision North American Market Fact Sheet 2015-12-04 The Buick Envision was designed, engineered and tested in Michigan as a world-class luxury crossover to challenge the world's best competition. It was awarded Motor Trend SUV of the Year in China and has 127,085 sales so far this year. When it goes on sale in 2016, it will play an important role in a crossover lineup that currently represents 60 percent of Buick sales in North America. It targets customers shopping between the Encore, the best-selling Buick in eight years, and the Enclave, which has continued to grow its customer base since its 2007 introduction.
2014 Buick Regal GS
Mon, 09 Sep 2013A few months ago I drove the 2014 Buick LaCrosse and wrote up a First Drive review of it. For all of my quibbles with that sedan (and I had a fair number), I understand that it speaks to the heart of what new Buick loyalists like in a car; it's roomy, has a cushy ride and is as placid as a summer's morning at highway speeds.
Those qualities, while undeniably desirable, don't mean a whole lot to me personally. I prefer sedans that conjure up words like "nimble," "punchy" or even "raucous" on occasion. So, directionally, the high-performance GS version of the 2014 Buick Regal is more my cup of tea than any other car in the company's current range.
In fact, I'd already come to know the Regal GS from its 2012 model year introduction, and grown more than a little fond of the sporting sedan in its original front-wheel-drive, six-speed-manual guise. The fast, sweet-handling car with well-sorted controls may have suffered from a slight identity crisis in terms of pricing (and may still), but it was undeniably fun to drive. So, when I heard that the GS was coming to market for 2014 with optional all-wheel drive (albeit only in combination with a six-speed automatic transmission), I was stoked to have another go and concentrated my driving impressions on the AWD car.
Frustrated GM investors ask what more Mary Barra can do
Mon, Oct 22 2018DETROIT — General Motors Co Chief Executive Mary Barra has transformed the No. 1 U.S. automaker in her almost five years in charge, but that is still not enough to satisfy investors. Ahead of third-quarter results due on Oct. 31, GM shares are trading about 6 percent below the $33 per share price at which they launched in 2010 in a post-bankruptcy initial public offering. The Detroit carmaker's stock is down 22 percent since Barra took over in January 2014. After hitting an all-time high of $46.48 on Oct. 24, 2017, the shares have declined 33 percent. In the same period, the Standard & Poor's 500 index has climbed 7.8 percent. Several shareholders contacted by Reuters said GM could face a third major action by activist shareholders in less than four years if the share price does not improve. "I've been expecting it," said John Levin, chairman of Levin Capital Strategies. "It just seems a tempting morsel to somebody." Levin's firm owns more than seven million GM shares. Barra has guided the company through the settlement of a federal criminal probe of a mishandled safety recall, sold off money-losing European operations, and returned $25 billion to shareholders through dividends and stock buybacks from 2012 through 2017. GM declined to comment for this story, but the company's executives privately express frustration with the market's reluctance to see it as anything more than a manufacturer tied mainly to auto market sales cycles. GM's profitable North American truck and SUV business and its money-making China operations are valued at just $14 billion, excluding the value of GM's stake in its $14.6 billion Cruise automated vehicle business and its cash reserves from its $44 billion market capitalization. The recent slump in the Chinese market, GM's largest, and plateauing U.S. demand are ratcheting up the pressure. GM is one of the few global automakers without a founding family or a government to serve as a bulwark against corporate raiders. In 2015, a group led by investor Harry Wilson pressed GM to launch a $5 billion share buyback, and commit to what is now an $18 billion ceiling on the level of cash the company would hold. In 2017, GM fended off a call by hedge fund manager David Einhorn to split its common stock shares into two classes. Einhorn, whose firm still owned more than 21 million shares at the end of June, declined to comment about GM's stock price. Other investors said there were no clear alternatives to Barra's approach.
