IMPORTANT!!! PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION..IT WILL ONLY TAKE A MINUTE BUT HAS IMPORTANT INFO IN IT...after reading, please feel free to call or email questions...

This is a "running" 1971 Buick Skylark 2 door w/ 350 2bbl V8, auto, I say "running" because it starts and drives, but leaks ATF from the front seal of the trans. You can drive it for a test drive, probably even 10+ miles but it drips constantly so eventually you'd run out of ATF or have to keep filling it up. THEREFORE I cannot reccomend driving it home, should be transported. Engine runs fine, smooth, no smoke.
I expect this car would be a good candidate for a GS clone restoral project. Very low rust ( for its age ) and the rust that is there is mostly surface rust, on the outside of the body, not rusting thru from the inside.
No structural rust, frame is solid. This has been repainted and that paint is dead now also, but the body is basically straight and worthy of saving ( not like all the rusted out hulks from back east! ) The carb is new, battery good, starts right up.No AC. The interior is really excellent and even though I don't care for the fabric style, it's VERY nice inside. Re cover the seats w/ blue ( correct ) vinyl and you've got a real nice interior!
NOW THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART!
I bought this car as you see it. I bought it to "steal" parts from it to finish my real GS. So I took the following parts off and you will get what is described below:
I kept the aftermarket wheels and tires- YOU GET the stock steel wheels and very good 14 inch tires shown seperately in a photo. The stock wheels hold air fine and will be installed before pickup.
I kept the front and rear bumpers, YOU GET my 72 rear ( the kind that has the rubber strips ) stock bumper in very good condition. YOU GET my bent stock front bumper ( for a core? ) although it will be loose from the car. I KEPT the steel radiator top cover ( you get my wrinkled one ) the hood latch and support ( my latch is good but the support bracket is no good ) YOU GET my old parts in case you can use them. Hood will be lashed down with a motorcycle type strap for test drives and transport. I kept the fan shroud, mine was destroyed so you will need another one.
That's about it! I took the photos before I removed the bumpers so you can see that it was not wrecked, so when you put it back together it will fit perfectly..NO SIGN of previous wreck / damage.
NOW THAT YOU HAVE READ THIS, please feel free to call or e mail. Stu 619-315-8428
Thanks!

GM recalls 500K Chevy Camaros for ignition-switch defect

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

General Motors issued a recall for more than a half million Chevrolet Camaros on Friday morning because of an ignition-switch safety hazard that mirrors the one at the center of the company's current crisis.
The problem affects Camaro models from the 2010 to 2014 model years. Approximately 464,712 cars are impacted in the United States, and 511,528 overall in North America. GM will alter the Camaro key to a more standard design, and will notify car owners with a recall notice in the mail.
In an announcement, the company said the ignition switches on the Camaros are fundamentally different parts than the older ignition switches found on defective cars that are responsible for killing at least 13 people and causing 54 crashes.

Chevy Bolt-based prototype may be a Buick EV for China

Thu, Jan 9 2020

Late last spring, we got a look at a GM prototype that was clearly based on the Chevy Bolt EV, but with updated styling. It seemed like it could be a more crossover-styled Bolt, given the recently trademarked name of EUV. Now we get another look at the prototype, but the bodywork seems less suggestive of a Chevy, and more of a Buick. This vehicle definitely still appears to be based on the Bolt, rather than on another small GM platform. In the photos of it next to the current model, the size, wheelbase and profile are extremely similar. There are differences, though. The nose isn't as sloped or as rounded, and the rear window kicks up a little earlier. The biggest changes are in the front and rear fascias, and it's here that we see hints of Buick. There are prominent air inlets on each side of the front bumper that give the car a more aggressive look. The headlights still have a fairly rounded, organic look, but with little extensions like fangs underneath. The styled running-light section, rounded shape and the smoked lenses seem very Buick-like. The grille features a large badge that doesn't fit the shape of a bow-tie, and is more that of a round logo like Buick's. Around at the back, the full-width taillights stand out, and in the middle there is obviously a round badge, again like a Buick. The wide taillights would also be a natural evolution of Buick's current light design language that uses somewhat wide and thin lights. The rear bumper has been redesigned with new lower taillights. Now that we've established that this seems very much like a Buick, we don't think we'll see this particular version offered here with the badge. This is more likely a Buick version of the Bolt for the Chinese market, where the brand is associated with luxury and has been the spearhead for GM's electric and hybrid models. In fact, the Chevy Volt hybrid was sold there as the Buick Velite 5, which was part of a family of a electrified Velite models. This would probably also carry a Velite badge as well. While we might not see this specific Buick variant, we probably will see it offered as a Chevy in some form. With its more aggressive, crossover shape, it could be the rumored EUV model. Or it could be just a refresh of the current Bolt, since the model has been largely unchanged since its introduction for the 2017 model year. And extrapolating from this prototype, we can see how the headlights could be tweaked to tie into those air scoops as on the Suburban and Silverado.

KBB 2013 Brand Image Awards has some obvious and oddball winners

Sat, 30 Mar 2013

The sixth edition of the Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Awards have crowned a wide range of winners - in a couple of cases the recipient of the laurels might say more about KBB users than they do about the actual winner. Compiled from the responses of more than 12,000 shoppers on KBB.com over the past year, there are 13 categories broken into non-luxury, luxury and truck segments "representing the combined wisdom of the American car-buying public."
The award categories have been revamped this year, with some dropping off, some new ones appearing and at least one other given a new term. What isn't surprising is that Honda won Most Trusted Brand for the second year running, Best Value Brand for the third year in a row and took Best Overall Brand, which wasn't on last year's list of awards.
On our own shores, in the non-luxury categories Chrysler got Most Refined Brand and Buick took Best Value Luxury Brand. Neither one of those marques won anything in last year's Brand Image Awards, while Cadillac, which won Best Interior Design Brand and Best Comfort Brand last year - those awards disappeared this year - went home without a single accolade.
