1965 BUICK SPECIAL DELUXE

Up for Auction: SUPER LOW FAIR RESERVE !!!
We want to move our cars, not sit on them with crazy
reserve prices.  Check out our Feedback

I didnt see a catagory for the SPECIAL so we used Skylark
Obviously this is a Special Deluxe model.
For a 50 yr old car this Buick is a really clean un-restored
survivor. Its had at least 1 repaint, white like the original  color.
But dont see any real signs of bondo or rust repairs. Although
the rear 1/4s may have some rust on the lower spots or around
the inner wheel arch. Nothing major of course, its a solid AZ CAR.
The car always looks better in pics, but its still a nice body with
a nice original interior.  If you check out how Buick sloped the
rear back window, it almost has a Fastback design to it making
for a better profile then most 4 drs.

Car starts and runs, but it does idle rough and once warmed
up it smokes. Someone installed a good size 4v carb with an
adaptor and that could be the reason it smokes so much.
It also smells rich when you are driving it. I drove the car home
at night on a 10 mile trip and it ran okay, but Id suggest at
least put an original 2v carb back on it first along with a good
tune up and see if the smoking goes away. If not then it may need
more works like valve seals or rings. Honestly my first guess would
be the carb and tune up stuff first.
The car has been a daily driver for the last few yrs, but recently
the gas tank developed 2 leaks so it was parked recently.
I would suggest just getting a new fuel tank.

RESTORE it back to stock or do something along the restomod
way, or rat rod and have an awesome 1 of a kind car
your friends only wished they had for such a low investment.
I hate to say it, but some people may look at this as a nice
rust free parts car, but I think its too nice for that myself.
Maybe even make a Clone 4dr version of the famous GS !?

DRIVETRAIN:  best we can tell its a matching #s car with
the factory V8. Not sure if its the 300 or 340 motor but
probably the 4.9. Has options like PS, PB and AC. All the
AC stuff is there and connected, but its not currently functional.
The blower motor under the dash it bad (and it comes with a
new one in the box not yet installed)  Not sure what else the
AC needs.  Other details about what we know about the motor
was mentioned in the beginning of the ad.
Automatic trans feels good, shifts fine too. Not really sure if its
a 2 spd or 3 spd auto. Someone yrs ago
moved the shifter to the floor which works great and easy to use
and making it more fun to drive Ill be honest. Brakes work well
too. Drums all around stop the car fine, at the very least they
may need some adjusting because of a little pulling under hard
braking.

INTERIOR: All original blue interior shows some wear
and tear for a car with 140k on it. But its actually in
nicer shape then most cars at this age. Dr side bench
seat shows the worst of it all. The chrome inside looks
really nice with no pitting and still shines great .
Gauges all seem to work okay. Still smells like a cool old
car and even the stock AM radio works ! Driving it home
the other night listening to some 50s and 60s music with
the windows all down, you almost felt like it was 1968 all
over again. Cant get the RR door to open, probably just
the latch or something. Trunk is very clean on the bottom
again, just a little rust near the 1/4s.

EXTERIOR: Original color was Artic White and its had at least
one repaint over the yrs, still acrylic  enamel , Im sure over time
its had some body repairs but really they are hard to see.
Maybe its because of the white paint. But I dont see any signs of
huge bondo spots or rust repairs. Stainless and chrome  not in
bad shape for being 50 yrs old. But again its not a restored car either.

SUSPENSION: all factory the best I can tell and Im sure some bushings
are old and shocks, but again this stuff is easy to fix these days
then rusted out bodies. Its not as mushy or tank-like of a drive as I
expected to be. The car drives like a smaller 2dr car to be honest
and Im sure with a few upgrades it would be even more fun to drive.

Leave it stock or put some 20" wheels on it.

Check out ALL the pics below ----->

it may take a full minute for them all to load if you have a
slow connection, so be patient AND looks for the extra schroll
bar on the right side.
Az gets maybe 12" a yr of rain and Az very dry climate.
more info AFTER the pics etc. There are 100 large pics.

There you have it, probably The BEST represented Buicks on Ebay.

Shows you all the good as well as any bad, hope you appreciate them.
We put a lot of time and effort in marketing our cars and it shows.
People wait months for a car this solid to come up for sale
and even if you have to pay shipping to your area, it still beats
paying a body shop to hopefully fix a rusty car for weeks on end.
Having as much as the original steel on a restored car these days
speaks volumes.

Also, if you buy a car thats been "restored", who knows what sort
of surprises are hidden under new paint or thick undercoating.
People are flipping cars all the time when most of the jobs are
fast, for a quick buck and quality suffers.

Our auctions have NOTHING to hide .
Restore a car like this yourself or locally and you know
exactly what you have in the end.

Win the 'ultimate 80s muscle car,' a Buick Grand National GNX

Mon, Aug 8 2022

Poll the Autoblog staff about which car is considered the ultimate '80s muscle car, and one of the two answers that'll come up is the Buick Grand National. The other, for those curious, is the Mustang GT 5.0, but that less important right now because Omaze isn't giving away one of those. It is, however, giving away a 1987 Grand National GNX, with an astonishingly low 2,000 original miles, and you can win it here. Win a 1987 Buick Grand National GNX - Enter at Omaze Here are the specs of the GNX, per Omaze: Max Seating: 5 Powertrain: Turbo 3.8 Liter V6 Engine Transmission: 4-speed automatic    Drivetrain: RWD Exterior Color: Black Interior Color: Grey/Black Horsepower: 276 hp Torque: 360 lb-ft Acceleration: 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds Top Speed: 124 mph Fuel Capacity: 15.1 gal Approximate Retail Value: $185,000 Cash Alt: $138,750 Special features: Only 2,000 original miles; #51 of 547 produced; blacked out exterior; 16-inch cross-weave wheels; wheel arches; torque arm rear suspension  According to Omaze, "no donation or payment is necessary to enter or win this sweepstakes." Per Omaze, “the ACLU is an organization of people who believe in the power of action. Whether in the courts, statehouses, or Congress, they fight to defend the rights that the Constitution guarantees to all of us — regardless of who we are, where we come from, who we love, or what we believe. The ACLU evolved from an organization of lawyers and advocates into a larger coalition of people fighting for whatÂ’s right together — for all of us. The ACLU seeks to be the place where people can come, no matter their political affiliation, to take action. ” If you want this relic of the 80s in your driveway, enter here. GM says safety is a reason it's dropping Apple CarPlay, Android Auto

Tue, Dec 12 2023

Update: GM sent us a statement as a follow-up to its original comments seen in this post: "We wanted to reach out to clarify that comments about GM's position on phone projection were misrepresented in previous articles and to reinforce our valued partnerships with Apple and Google and each company’s commitment to driver safety. GM's embedded infotainment strategy is driven by the benefits of having a system that allows for greater integration with the larger GM ecosystem and vehicles." The original story can be read in its entirety below.   General Motors announced its intention to remove Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality from its upcoming EVs earlier this year, and internet comments sections haven't been kind since. As the first of many EVs to follow – the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV – hits the market, GM is expanding on its initial explanations for dropping the tech. Motor Trend spoke with Tim Babbit, GMÂ’s head of product for infotainment, to learn more. Attributed to Babbit, from the story: “They have stability issues that manifest themselves as bad connections, poor rendering, slow responses, and dropped connections. And when CarPlay and Android Auto have issues, drivers pick up their phones again, taking their eyes off the road and totally defeating the purpose of these phone-mirroring programs. Solving those issues can sometimes be beyond the control of the automaker.” Babbit suggests that a world without Apple CarPlay or Android Auto will be a safer one, as folks wonÂ’t be looking to control their infotainment systems via their phones. However, Babbit also tells MT that this theory hasnÂ’t been tested in either the lab or the real world yet. Instead of using a navigation or music-playing app powered through your phone, upcoming GM EVs will use a Google-based infotainment system called “Ultifi” that runs a ton of integrated Google apps. Google Maps will be the native navigation app in the system; youÂ’ll be able to log in to Spotify or other apps to load your music up, and so on. The idea here is that youÂ’ll have all the same apps that were on your phone available but integrated within the infotainment system instead, and you'll be able to use voice controls to control every last bit of it with no need to reach for a phone. That sounds amenable in theory, but how consumers react to the removal of a feature that they know and love now is a risky gamble.

Buick adds Sport Touring trim to sedan lineup

Fri, Aug 14 2015

Buick has made a few tweaks to its sedan lineup today, announcing that a new Sport Touring trim will be offered on the LaCrosse, Regal, and Verano. It's best to think of the new Sport Touring models as Buick's answer to Chevrolet's limited range of RS models, focusing on very small style changes rather than any added performance. Best to leave that to the Regal GS, we guess. For the ST trim, Buick has fitted its three four-doors with new 18-inch wheels. These relatively sporty hoops get machined faces with black inserts, like those offered on the Encore Sport Touring and the Enclave Tuscan Edition. Also coming to the LaCrosse, Regal, and Verano Sport Touring is a new rear spoiler. Like we said, these are simple styling packs meant to spice up the staid but handsome exteriors of the brand's sedans. "These new ST models underscore the importance of design choices, while complementing the safety, refinement and connectivity technologies that are drawing new customers to Buick dealerships," Buick VP Duncan Aldred said in the attached statement. The new trim level will be available on all three vehicles this fall, with prices to be announced closer to the on-sale date. Scroll on for the official presser from Buick. Related Video: Buick Expands 2016 Sport Touring Lineup Distinctive sedans join Enclave Tuscan Edition, Encore Sport Touring DETROIT – Buick unveiled 2016 LaCrosse, Regal and Verano Sport Touring (ST) models today – sedans with distinctive exterior cues designed to set them apart from the pack. Each features special 18-inch wheels with machined faces and black "pockets," and a rear spoiler. They join the Enclave Tuscan Edition and recently announced Encore Sport Touring as special models expanding Buick's lineup with more design-focused choices. "Buick is reaching an all-new generation of customers by reinventing itself in terms of design, function and capabilities," said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Buick. "These new ST models underscore the importance of design choices, while complementing the safety, refinement and connectivity technologies that are drawing new customers to Buick dealerships." The new Sport Touring sedans – and Encore Sport Touring – go on sale this fall. LaCrosse Sport Touring includes Buick IntelliLink with Apple CarPlay capability, OnStar 4G LTE connectivity with Wi-Fi hotspot, remote start, eight standard air bags (including rear-seat thorax air bags) and leather-trimmed seats – with heated front seats.
