NO RESERVE AUCTION! Selling my 1996 Buick Roadmaster Station Wagon with 178,562 MILES, originally from Pennsylvania. Great running LT1 engine (no smoke or substantial leaks, never have to top up the oil), no transmission leaks, shifts flawlessly, well maintained and mechanically sound, this car drives beautifully. Body is fair and it needs exhaust work but the tires are nearly new and the brakes were done not long ago. Other flaws include a driver's side broken mirror assembly, the power antenna no longer works (still receives local FM stations), cassette player has issues, passenger side rear window comes off the track, the power tailgate window release works when it feels like it and the A/C no longer blows cold. The interior is in very nice shape for its age, no tears or holes in the leather and it has the 3rd seat in back. This wagon has the optional towing package with transmission cooler, heavy duty brakes and radiator, all season radials with less than 5,000 miles on them. Also included are winter rims and tires with lots of tread left, original full size spare and jack. Clear title, Ontario seller's package and service records since I bought the car 8 years ago come with the car. For a nominal investment, this great wagon has lots of life left. It needs some body work, mainly on the passenger side rear quarter and I got an estimate of about $1,500 (parts and labor) to replace the dual exhaust. The driver side rear view mirror assembly also has to be replaced, currently it's being held in place with tape. Some rust is showing under the driver side carpet but the floor seems solid. Please email any questions or call me at 705-790-4004 for questions or to arrange a test drive before bidding. THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION AND THIS WAGON IS BEING SOLD AS IS, WINNING BIDDER OWNS IT! NON REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT OF $200.00 US VIA PAYPAL IS DUE WITHIN 48 HOURS OF AUCTION'S END WITH REMAINDER TO BE PAID BY PAYPAL MONEY ORDER OR US CASH AND VEHICLE PICKED UP WITHIN 7 DAYS OF AUCTION'S END. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE FUNDS, PLEASE DO NOT BID. ASK ALL QUESTIONS AND/OR ARRANGE TO VIEW AND DRIVE THIS CAR BEFORE YOU BID! |

GM puts e-commerce shopping in car dashboards
Tue, Dec 5 2017DETROIT — General Motors on Tuesday said it will equip newer cars with in-dash e-commerce technology, betting it can profit as drivers order food, find fuel or reserve hotel rooms by tapping icons on the dashboard screen, instead of using smartphones while driving. GM's Marketplace technology, developed with IBM, will be uploaded automatically to about 1.9 million model-year 2017 and later vehicles starting immediately, with about 4 million vehicles across the Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac brands equipped with the capability in the United States by the end of 2018, GM said. GM will get an undisclosed amount of revenue from merchants featured on its in-dash Marketplace, Santiago Chamorro, GM vice president for global connected customer experience, said during a briefing for reporters. Customers will not be charged for using the service or the data transmitted to and from the car while making transactions, he said. "This platform is financed by the merchants," Chamorro said. GM will get paid for placing a merchant's application on its screens, and "there's some level of revenue sharing" based on each transaction, he said. It is too soon to say how much revenue GM could realize from the Marketplace system, he said. The GM Marketplace will compete for customer clicks and revenue with hand-held smartphones, which offer a far richer array of applications than the GM system will at the outset. Amazon.com is partnering with other automakers, including Ford, to offer in-car e-commerce capability through Amazon's Alexa personal assistant system. For example, GM will launch Marketplace with just Shell and Exxon Mobil icons in the fuel category. The only restaurant available for in-car table reservations at launch is the chain TGI Fridays, GM said. In addition, there will be apps for parking, and ordering ahead at coffee shops and restaurants such as Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts and Applebee's. "We will be adding more vendors," with some coming in the first quarter of 2018, Chamorro said. In addition, he said GM plans to expand integration into its vehicles of music, news and other information services. GM also hopes to use its in-car Marketplace connections to expand purchases of products and services, such as additional access to in-car wifi, from its own replacement parts business and dealer network. Customers can "expect to see more service promotions coming through the platform," Chamorro said. Reporting by Joe WhiteRelated Video:
2015 Buick Verano offered with six-speed manual after all
Mon, 09 Jun 2014Good news, boys and girls (well, at least those of you who still like shifting for yourselves). Buick got in touch with us to correct some information that it had mistakenly announced; namely, that the 2015 Verano will lose its optional six-speed manual transmission. Apparently, that announcement was incorrect, and the compact sedan will indeed continue to offer a manual option for 2015, despite what we're certain is a low take rate. Additionally, the Desert Dusk Metallic paint that was said to come as part of an Appearance Package is no longer part of the deal. With that out of the way, we now return you to your regularly scheduled automotive-obsessive broadcast...
Junkyard Gem: Heavily personalized 1997 Buick Skylark Custom Sedan
Wed, Mar 27 2019Normally I wouldn't be much interested in a third-generation GM N-Body (a family that includes the Chevy Malibu and Olds Achieva) spotted in the junkyard, though a case could be made for such a vehicle's historical significance. This '97 Skylark, however, arrived in a Northern California self-service wrecking yard well-plastered with stickers, reflectors, and other personalizing touches, making it an interesting document of its time and place. It appears that both of the original white fenders got mashed and then replaced with blue ones, almost certainly obtained cheaply at a yard like this one. If you're not going to paint your new fenders to match the car, then you're already well down the slippery slope to making the car a giant mobile canvas to display your interests. A 20-year-old GM N-Body, regardless of how nice it was when new, isn't worth much, and you could stretch a line of these cars from Lansing to Lahore with all the used-up Ns sitting in American wrecking-yard inventory right now. Perhaps it was the grandchild of the car's original owner who indulged in White Widow cannabis and listened to Siouxsie & the Banshees. The odds against finding the original window sticker in a car like this are mighty long, but here it is. Sold new at Putnam Buick in Burlingame. It appears that this car spent most of its final decade in or near Mill Valley. Mill Valley is a mere 30 miles from Burlingame, or about three hours of Buick driving (you have to go past SFO, through San Francisco, and across the Golden Gate Bridge, a journey featuring apocalyptically terrible traffic at just about any time). Drive east across the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge and you'll get to this Skylark's final parking space, about 20 miles from Mill Valley. This car lived its whole life near the shores of San Francisco Bay, and it will die there. Feathers and a political-party charm adorn the headliner. This car's final owner had a practical side, as we can see from the many reflectors and lengths of safety tape. Just the thing for avoiding a T-bone wreck in the dead of night! "Essentially, Skylark embodies all of the features customers expect from a Buick, in a smaller package, with a very attractive MSRP."
