For bid is a 1995 Buick Roadmaster Limited Estate Wagon with 67k miles.
Highlights: Tow package, 2.93 posi, Class 3 hitch with wiring, GM CD player. Limited package includes leather seats with power lumber and tilt. Good maintenance - recent full tuneup + new rear shocks + AC compressor and dryer. Only aftermarket parts are the hitch, Koni adjustable front shocks and brand new top quality tint.
History: I am the third owner; the first owners were snowbirds in Winter Haven FL. They sold the car in 2008 with 31k on it to a collector in the Atlanta, GA area who took great care of it and used it as his road trip car. He sold it to me in the fall of 2012 with 63k on it. He took meticulous care of it – stored in his garage, under a car cover, with the liftgate glass up to preserve the struts. At 40k he had a full tuneup done (optispark, plugs & wires, water pump), and had the AC compressor and dryer replaced at the GM dealer. He also had the rear air shocks replaced with GM factory airshocks and replaced the fronts with Koni adjustables so he could “get a slight amount more damping than stock but still match the rears.” The rear axle fluid and limited slip additive was also replaced at 40k and the transmission was flushed and filter changed at 50k.
I have put just shy of 4000 miles on the car, with the majority of that being several road trips. After I bought the car, it was driven to my western VA where I stored it about a year, then finally drove it to upstate NY where it spent one summer. Before the summer was over, I relocated to Huntsville, AL and had the car transported here. I drove the wagon up to a show in Louisville KY and unfortunately we got caught in the rain on the way home. Other than that the car hasn’t seen rain since I’ve had it. I added a Buick CD player which works great. I keep it stored in my climate-controlled garage with ethanol-free gas and take it out now and then to stretch its legs.
Maintenance-wise, I had the windows tinted to protect the interior using high quality stuff from Johnson Films, applied by the premier tinter in town who has done four of my other cars with no bubbles, fading or purpling. The rear window was done in one piece. I also changed the oil, greased the front suspension and had the car aligned. I also installed a new battery – if you notice, the original battery blanket is still in place. I searched 6 months before I bought this car. Please see all the pictures – it is one of the nicest you will find.
NO RESERVE.

Condition Report
ENGINE: Runs on all eight cylinders without smoking, missing or knocking. Engine runs at proper temperature. New battery & good charging system. Starts easy and runs strong.
TRANSMISSION: Performs beautifully. Engages gears quickly and shifts through all forward gears and reverse with good downshift and torque converter performance. Clean fluid with no burn odors.
EXTERIOR: Body: Body is in very nice shape with two small dimples on the hood and one behind the rear wheel on the bottom. Two minor scuffs on the right front and rear corners – see pics. No body rust ever. There was one accident report, in 1998, with a bicycle according to the previous owner. Very good body overall. Paint: Paint is nice and shiny everywhere. All original paint except a few touch up spots as pictured on hood. Above average. Wood: Upper wood trim is all original, the only peeling of note is on the front fender spears as pictured. The side panel fake wood is in excellent shape with one mar on the RR door and a small bubble just above the chrome on the RF door. Otherwise, very nice and above average - still shiny and clear with no significant sun fading. Other: Lower stainless bright trim is very nice with a couple of dings here and there. Rubber side trim is all there and all original. Undercarriage is extremely nice and all original, typical of a southeastern US / Florida car with very slight paint peeling on the fuel tank straps - see the pics. Underhood sheet metal, tailgate sill and door jambs have no rust as seen in pics. Aluminum wheels are in excellent shape.
INTERIOR: Interior of the car is in very nice shape as you'd expect of the low mileage. The only complaints are a small tear in the center console rear, a tiny tear on the passenger side seat control surround, and a small chip missing from the driver’s door panel handle insert (see pics). Dash has no cracks, rest of leather seating areas are in great shape, cargo deck carpet in great shape with no stains but the very edge corner is cracked. Steering wheel is in very nice shape and is original – no paint. Carpet is new and all four factory floormats are included. No smoke or pet odors. Very nice interior overall.
ELECTRICAL STUFF: All inspection items work (lights, horn, wipers, etc.) ALL power options work reliably, including power windows, power locks, power seats with power recliners, lumbar motors work but don’t seem to adjust the lumbar, hot heat and cold A/C, tilt, cruise, am/fm stereo cassette CD, power antenna, rear window release, rear wiper, keyless entry, twilight sentinel, intermittent wipers, and rear defroster.
DRIVEABILITY: Drives beautifully as you'd expect of the low miles. Steering is tight, alignment is good, suspension is tight. Brakes work well with good linings. Tires have about 50% tread remaining on a matched set of General Altimax radials with the rears having a slight amount of inner edge wear (hence why I had an alignment done). Solid stock, quiet exhaust with no leaks. Check engine light is not lit (except at start up as it should.)
I’ve had four Roadmaster wagons now, and this one is by far the nicest one I’ve ever owned and probably one of the nicest ones you’ll find. I would not hesitate to drive it across country tomorrow.

The recall madness over at General Motors isn't letting up anytime soon, as evidenced by this latest call-back of 8,208 Chevrolet Malibu and Buick LaCrosse sedans. For those keeping track, this is the fifth recall that GM has announced in the past two weeks, not to mention the massive ignition-switch issue from earlier this year.
GM issued a statement saying these sedans are being recalled due to "possible reduced braking performance," according to Automotive News. The problem? Rear brake rotors may have accidentally been installed in the front brake assembly. And since both cars use more robust braking systems up front than out back, braking power could be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash.
Automotive News reports that, of the over 8,000 cars being recalled, about 1,700 are currently in the hands of customers, while the others are still in dealer inventory. GM is unaware of any crashes or injuries related to this problem. All of the affected vehicles are from the 2014 model year.

I recently reviewed the 2024 Buick Encore GX in its new Avenir trim, appreciating the updates from its mid-cycle refresh and assessing its comfortable driving style. What I didn't dive into, however, were the cupholders. Specifically, I wanted to know if it could accommodate in a convenient location what is my favorite hydration facilitator, a 32-ounce Nalgene water bottle. This, like other oversized water bottles, often can't find a cupholder that will fit it. Its a particularly American problem (we're more obsessed with cupholders than other markets), so can this American budget-luxury crossover satisfy my own obsession with this big, dumb bottle? Let's find out. Ideally, we could put it in the front cupholders. Few vehicles' cupholders are big enough, though, with the Chrysler Pacifica, Lexus GX and Toyota 4Runner being notable exceptions. We can't add the Encore to that list, unfortunately. The cupholders are far too small. Usually, the second best option, if possible, is to put it in the front door pocket. Voila! It fits. No Nalgene rolling around on the front passenger seat in this Buick. But what about in back? The center armrest in the Encore GX is a fine place to rest one's elbow, but what about a big-ass bottle of water? Alas, the rear cupholders are equally dinky as the ones up front, which is often the case. The last-gen Toyota Tundra was an exception, where the rear cupholders were bigger than those up front which is super weird to me. I'mm looking forward to see what's what with the new Tundra. The rear door pockets are much smaller than those up front. This does not look promising. It's just big enough that I can wedge the bottom of the bottle inside, but not big enough to keep it there when the car is in motion. Sorry backseaters, you'd better settle for your lesser bottles, suckers. I had almost overlooked this little cubby in between the front cupholders and center console armrest. It's an odd shape, but with some luck, the Nalgene will fit. That's the ticket! This is even better than putting it in the door. It's not the most secure fit, but it's not so huge a space that the bottle knocks around and falls over with every input to the steering wheel or pedals. This ended up being where I put the Nalgene every time I drove the Encore GX, and, subsequently, I remained content and adequately hydrated. And the cupholders remained open for alternative beverages. Interested in more than just the cupholders?

General Motors has heralded its Ultium battery-electric platform as the future of its passenger car and truck lineup, but for the first two years of its existence, its impact on the marketplace has been virtually nonexistent. Well, that finally changed in the third quarter of 2023, and while the cars based on this architecture don't represent anywhere near the volume of GM's broader combustion portfolio, we're reaching a point where Ultium products are finally in view (and in the hands) of real-world shoppers. At this point, five U.S.-market Ultium models are in production: the GMC Hummer EV, Cadillac Lyriq, Chevrolet Blazer & Silverado EV, and BrightDrop Zevo 600. If you're not familiar with that last one, that's OK; it's a commercial product that you likely won't see on the road for some time. Together, these four combined for 4,257 sales in the third quarter alone — up from 2,663 for the entire first half of the year. While that may not seem like a significant uptick when viewed from altitude, the quarter-to-quarter numbers paint a clearer picture. Let's toss out the stragglers first. The Chevy Blazer EV, and Silverado EV for example, are barely in production. GM delivered 19 Blazers and 18 Silverados in the third quarter and that's the entirety of their production runs so far. Likewise, GM's BrightDrop Zevo 600 delivery van effectively exists apart from the consumer marketplace, so its contribution of just 35 units can be set aside too. That leaves us the two you've heard of: the GMC Hummer EV and Cadillac Lyriq — models with high sticker prices and long reservation queues. Through the second quarter (remember, we're talking six months here), GMC sold 49 Hummer EVs. No typo. In the three months that made up the third quarter, GM moved 1,167 of them. Not only is that a dramatic improvement over the first half, but it's more Hummers than GMC sold in the entirety of 2022 (854). Lyriq's improvement was less eye-popping on paper, but after moving just 122 total units in 2022 and 2,013 of them in the first half of 2023, Cadillac managed to up that figure to 3,018 units in the third quarter alone. GM is betting its short-term EV future on the Ultium platform, so these trends need to continue if that's going to be a profitable wager.
