1951 Buick Roadmaster Convertible It breaks my heart to have to sell this Unique Specimen of Automotive Art. I have owned this car for many years as I purchased it from a Widow Lady whose father purchased it new in 1951. She told about the day her father went to pick the car up at the Buick Dealership. She was the oldest and luckiest of five siblings as she got to go with her father to pick up the car. She remembers how her Dad put the Convertible top down and her long hair went all directions in the breeze. As she grew older her father let her drive the car in the Homecoming Parades. She recently passed but I cherish the stories she related to me of her long lasting love for the Roadmaster. When her father passed the car was left to her and her husband. In 1992 her husband passed but only after a ten year swap meet effort to find as many NOS parts as he could for his ongoing restoration of the vehicle. And he did. NOS Rear Fenders, Stainless Steel Moldings and numerous other items. He had a new interior of Red and White made for the car by a Company in Chicago. They did a fine job. I have the completed door panels and everything else that goes with the interior. All new weather stripping and many many extra parts. All of the chrome has been redone and the bumpers put back together ready for installation. The motor purrs like a kitten. I recall my dad who was a dyed in the wool Buick Connoisseur telling me that he could tune a Straight Eight Buick Engine to keep a quarter standing on its end during acceleration. Those Pierce Arrows didn't have a thing on a Buick he would say. Due to health issues of my own I am forced to sell this awesome motor car. I never got the time to put it back together. I did the brakes and a few other things and often drove it around the block for exercise, even without the front fenders on. I am told that the motor was rebuilt during the restoration endeavor. I have kept the car and all of the parts in a Climate Controlled environment. Look at the pictures close and either email me at daveglassel@gmail.com Text or call me at 832 533 7767 I am asking $25,000 for the car FOB Houston, Texas. I can arrange delivery if need be. GM's MPG overstatement could affect 2 million vehicles
Tue, May 17 2016Late last week, GM admitted that three of its large SUVs fuel economy window stickers did not match their actual efficiency ratings, and so the vehicles couldn't be sold. The stickers on the 2016 Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave said their ratings were one to two miles per gallon better than they should have been. Officially, the number of affected vehicles sits at about 60,000. But Consumer Reports makes a good point: what's up with all of the previous model year SUVs that are basically the same vehicle? To wit: the 2016 model year vehicles are not substantially different than the 2015 or the 2014, or even going all the way back to 2007. On the EPA's fuel economy website, all of these older models will "have better stated fuel economy numbers than the new vehicles in GM's dealerships," Consumer Reports noted. CR's best point, and the one that makes the 60,000 number potentially grow to 2 million if all of the vehicles built on this platform are affected, is that "[i]t seems unlikely that the company would change the powertrain on these carryover models so late in their model cycles in a way that would cause a dramatic, negative impact on fuel economy." GM says that earlier model year SUVs are not affected and the EPA did not respond to CR's question about the potential for more discrepancies. We've seen automakers reverse course before, so if GM has to come out with a mea culpa soon, don't be surprised. GM is rushing corrected stickers to dealers so that the SUVs can be sold again, but a fix for the already-sold vehicles could be trickier to solve. Repo man pays off elderly couple's car just in time for Thanksgiving
Mon, Nov 28 2016Repo men get bad raps for a good reason; no one likes having their car taken away. At least one guy in the repossession game proved folks in his profession aren't all bad when he helped an elderly couple hold on to their wheels right before Thanksgiving. According to the Belleville News-Democrat, unexpected bills and the rising cost of prescription medications pushed Stanford and Patty Kipping's fixed income to the breaking point. Unable to keep up with the $95 dollar a month payment on their 1998 Buick, they fell into arrears and the bank sent a repo man out to their home in Red Bud, Illinois to reclaim the car. Jim Ford, co-owner of Illini Recovery Inc., hooked up the old Buick and dragged it away, but later that night his conscience caught up with him. "When I got home that night, I said to myself, 'They are a real nice elderly couple. I gotta do something. I can't just take their car,'" Ford told the News-Democrat. Ford did do something, something surprisingly humane. He set up a GoFundMe and, within just a few short hours, he raised more than $3,500 dollars. This was enough money to pay off the Kipping's loan with a little left over for some maintenance. Ford and a friend then hooked the car back up and towed it back to the Kipping's home. Ford presented the couple with their trusty Buick, and threw in a thousand dollars in an envelope and a frozen turkey for Thanksgiving. "It was a miracle come true," Patty told the paper. "We didn't know what we were going to do." "I got up this morning and I looked up at the sun and I said, 'I hope we get our car back,'" added Stanford. "It's just unbelievable."Related Video: News Source: Belleville News-Democrat Auto News Weird Car News Buick repossession repo man
Updated Buick LaCrosse, Regal to debut at New York Auto Show
Tue, 26 Feb 2013Judging by the spy shots we saw last week for the 2014 Buick LaCrosse and 2014 Buick Regal, we knew it wouldn't be much longer until we saw both sedans receive a grand debut. Today, Buick confirmed to Autoblog both cars will be introduced at the New York Auto Show next month, but no further information has yet been released about either model.
Having been on the market for an extra couple years, the changes to the LaCrosse appear to be more significant than those coming for the Regal, but both will be getting refreshed exterior designs as well as updated interiors. The Regal's new face brings it more in line with the all-new Encore and the restyled Enclave, while the LaCrosse should get a more distinctive, upscale appearance.
Both cars will be introduced exactly a month from today, and we'll be there to bring you all the coverage.
