Up for auction is my 1948 Buick Roadmaster 2 Dr Sedanette, I've owned this Buick 38 years.  It was always a sentimental car because my Dad had a 42 Roadmaster.  My older brother and I restored it together, I couldn't wait for my Dad to see it.  I took my Dad for little rides before it was completed.  The paint and interior was completed in June of 1978. I was so excited for my Dad to see it when we picked it up from the paint and interior shops.  In October of 1978 my Dad passed away.  I lost interest in working on it any more.  But I could never part with it, I did little things with it on and off.  I took it to a show 3 years ago and won a trophy!   I replaced the engine in 2008, all the shocks, new radial tires, and battery and promised my wife I would sell it after that.  Never the less I couldn't do it.  The brother that helped me to get it to look like it does always was on me to use it, and do the little things it needs.   I just had no self esteem to do anything.  I do realize if I let it sit any longer it won't be good for the car.  It's time for a new home.  The restoration you see of the Buick is what I could afford at the time.  The car is not chopped in any way, it will need a carburetor.  Although it can be driven to California from here in Pennsylvania.  This Buick does not run hot in the summer, I have a 195 degree thermostat in it.   On the hot summer days on the highways at 65 and 70 MPH the coolant temperature runs at 200 degrees, in town in traffic it runs around 190 degrees. The oil pressure is above normal, I run Mobil 1 10 W 30 Synthetic oil in the engine, and it doesn't run out!  I bought the engine on eBay in Massachusetts.  The man I bought it from wanted to put the engine in a Buick Special.  It's too long it won't fit. The engine was completely overhauled with .030 pistons.  When I got the engine home I pulled all the spark plugs and turned it over by hand. I could see the tops of each piston as they came to the top dead center mark were brand new, and I could see the (.030) stamp marking.  I replaced the fuel pump, and what I could see in the oil pan was like the tops of the pistons, new! Under the valve cover was the same way.  It is a 48 engine, I checked the serial number.  It's a solid lifter motor which it should be for the manual transmission. When I replaced the engine, I didn't have a gasket for the front of the transmission.  Since then I did get the new gaskets it needs but they're still in the package they came in.  It does drip a little oil between the transmission and bell housing. (I would check the transmission before using the car, it would take about 5 ounces of oil) The torque ball also need to be repacked, I have all what is needed for that as well.  Cosmetically the car needs some TLC as you can see.  The paint is Acrylic Lacquer, (the car was originally black, but I liked the two tone gray) it does have some spider webs in the paint here and there.  All the lights and signals work, inside everything works except for the clock.  The radio does work if I hook it up to an external antenna.  The radio is from a 53 Special which were still 6 volt cars.  The tires and shocks have about 2,000 miles on them and so does the engine.  If you have any question please ask before bidding, serious bidders only. Buyer is responsible for all shipping, set the time and date and I will be here to assist the shipper. At auctions end I would need a non refundable deposit of $500.00   A Pay Pal account required.  Thank you for looking and good luck to you.

I for got to mention the exhaust manifold has a crack on the center section, I do have a brand new center section, it will go with the car.

Also the braking system is perfect!  Everything was replaced in 2001. Rebuilt master cylinder, two new rear wheel cylinders, two front rebuilt wheel cylinders, and two flex lines at the front wheels, the system was flushed and added DOT 5, silicone based brake fluid.  It does not attract moisture.  A lot of classic owners use the DOT 5.

Sunday Drive: A tale of old favorites and upcoming challengers

Sun, Oct 8 2017

Sedans and crossovers dominated the attention of our readers last week, led by the completely redesigned 2018 Honda Accord. It's the Japanese automaker's flagship, and people are seriously interested in finding out how good the latest Accord is. So interested, in fact, that no other single story came close to the brand-new Accord in Autoblog reader interest. Moving down the list we find the equally new 2018 Buick Enclave. The three-row crossover has a lot to offer a family, especially one looking for a nice, quiet ride. If you're looking for the exact opposite of nice and quiet, but still want enough room for you and your significant others, the Subaru WRX that we tested last week may be the perfect ride for you. Or, if you just want to drive fast and aren't at all worried about space, there's the Camaro SS. See? We offer something for everybody. From there, we look to the future. Who isn't interested in seeing the first fully electric vehicle from Porsche? And who isn't intrigued to see the Mission E testing alongside a gaggle of Teslas? A brand-new Jeep is always a big deal, especially when it's the revival of a classic nameplate like the Grand Wagoneer. And finally, we have something completely different: the Rezvani Tank. As always, tune in to Autoblog next week for a front-row seat to all the happenings worth following in the automotive industry. 2018 Honda Accord First Drive | Feels like home again 2018 Buick Enclave First Drive Review | Fortress of quietude 2018 Subaru WRX Drivers' Notes | Turbo traditionalist 2018 Chevy Camaro SS Drivers' Notes | Demonstrative power, middling interior Porsche Mission E caught testing against Teslas Jeep three-row SUV caught on public roads — Grand Wagoneer, perhaps? Buick has best sales year ever, delivers over 1M cars globally

Wed, 08 Jan 2014

If there are any lingering doubts why General Motors held onto Buick while killing Pontiac, Hummer and Saturn, one only has to look at the sales numbers from 2013 for the real answer. Thanks largely to strong sales in China, Buick set a global sales record last year by selling more than one million vehicles.
The lion's share of Buick sales came from China, which sold more than 809,000 units - about four times more Buicks than were sold in North America as a whole. In the US, the Buick Encore accounted for almost half of all US sales with 97,311 units as Buick spent the summer trying to keep up with demand of the subcompact crossover. Likewise, China-only models like the GL8 minivan and Excelle sedan (same as the US-spec Verano) were strong sellers in that market.
For good measure, Buick more than doubled its sales in Mexico with 2,319 units. Scroll down for the full press release.

Buick reveals wild GL8 minivan concept and Smart Pod concept in China

Fri, Nov 19 2021

Buick, being the hit in China that it is, decided to unveil a couple of concept vehicles at the Guangzhou Auto Show. One is the GL8 Flagship Concept, and the other is the Smart Pod Concept. Since an actual minivan is far more interesting than any “Smart Pod,” weÂ’ll start with the GL8 Flagship Concept. The exterior is meant to be luxurious and “dynamic” looking with its mix of colors, glass canopy roof, wing-shaped headlights and highly-sculpted body. ThereÂ’s hardly a piece on the car that isnÂ’t making a statement, and the highlights continue when you open the doors. It becomes fairly clear right away that this minivan is not one for family use, as itÂ’s only rocking four seats. That said, everybody in those four seats is guaranteed to be comfortable. Buick says itÂ’s using “zero gravity” lounge seats inside, and the cabin as a whole is inspired by Chinese mountain and water landscapes. That could explain the multi-color floor, as the blue section looks like it could be the water at the base of a mountain, surrounded by a beach. Features include a tea tray, 30-inch driver display, touchscreen on the steering wheel, full windshield-width head-up display and a new audio system that features speakers in the headrests. Buick says all of the carÂ’s functions can be controlled by voice, too. Beyond the obviously futuristic touches, this Buick minivan is just plain gorgeous. Its gold, blue and cream color combo and various materials used throughout look like top-notch luxury. WeÂ’d love to see some of this attention to detail and luxury trickle down into some of BuickÂ’s production cars. Smart Pod Concept Buick Smart Pod Concept View 17 Photos Unlike the GL8, the Smart Pod was designed in the U.S. It uses the electric Ultium platform and what Buick is calling the VIP electric architecture. The exterior design is basically what Buick has called it — a pod. Its lights use micro-LED tech to make them as sleek as possible. On the inside, Buick designed the Pod to be as spacious and airy as can be. It has a glass roof, a fully reclining and dedicated sleep seat and a modular seating layout. Other features include deployable tables, noise-cancelation  tech, an air purifying system and a 50-inch LED screen. It is powered by an AI assistant that employs voice commands, eye-tracking technology, integration with your mobile devices and machine learning to adapt to the user.
