1970 Buick Riviera With Riviera Gs Parts Car on 2040-cars
Knoxville, Tennessee, United States
|
I am selling this running, driving 1970 Riviera at no reserve. Included with it is a 1970 Riviera GS which is complete except for its engine and transmission. Both cars have open Tennessee titles. The car pictured is the primary vehicle. Green with green vinyl top and either very dark green or black bench seat interior in poor condition. Absolutely stock and unmolested. Only slight rust, the worst being in the floors and the fender skirts. Stock engine with original air cleaner with stickers still attached. Excellent set of matching bias-ply whitewalls just recently installed. The chrome wheels from the GS parts car are currently on this car. Starts right up and runs good. Moves and stops but I have only driven it up and down the street. A restoration project but certainly a realistic one. The only odd thing about it is that it has an electric fuel pump for whatever reason that is turned on and off by a toggle switch which just lays on the floor. Works great, but not right. This car has its original owner's manual, pre-delivery sheet, new vehicle warranty booklet, accessory pamphlet, stereo booklet, and Protect-O-Plate. Sold new out of Bristol, Virginia. This is a great-looking and rarely seen old car that deserves to be restored.
The parts car is a 1970 Riviera GS that is complete minus engine and transmission. It has bucket seats, console, tilt wheel, and even an original Buick 8-track tape player. Has a title. All glass is good and all trim is there. Floors are decent. Paint is nonexistent. All in one piece - not boxes of parts. Its chrome wheels are on the green car and the original Riviera hubcaps are on it now. Has the original posi-traction rear end which I have been offered $500 for by itself but wouldn't take it. In this deal you get two cars. The idea is to make a really cool Riviera GS and have a ton of valuable parts left over. The only things missing are the center caps for the chrome wheels. I only have one. Almost everything else is there in duplicate. The interiors of both cars are weak but salvageable. The green car is stored inside my garage and has been for several years. The parts car is under cover and out of the weather but obviously has been outside for a long time previously. I do not think you should even consider driving the green car home as it has not been on the road in many years. The paint looks better in the pictures than it does in person as I had just washed the dust off it and it is still wet in the photos. The paint is not very good. These are remarkably styled cars that you just don't see every day. Great documentation on the green car and titles for both. Lots of spare parts. A GS car with all the GS goodies! I need to move these cars and I will listen to any offer you may have. I am interested in old motorcycles and will consider any schemes you might have for you to get these Buicks in exchange for an interesting bike or two you might have laying around. Let me know. You can reach me by return email or call or text me at 865-387-0925 if you have questions or if you have swapping ideas. |

Is Buick's surprise Detroit concept a Camaro-sized coupe?
Sun, Jan 10 2016Tomorrow night marks the unofficial start of the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. Keep your eyes peeled for a number of reveals, including a surprise debut from Buick. Yes, Buick. And we think it's going to be something really hot. According to a report from Bloomberg, the Tri-Shield's secret car could be a Camaro-sized sport coupe concept. As Bloomberg explains, it'd certainly gel with the impression the company is trying to put out – that it's no longer a brand for those with one foot in the grave. Introducing a sports coupe, even as a concept, could certainly reinforce that message. And if it happens to make production – which is not a certainty, Bloomberg's secret source says – it could certainly help Buick drive its average buyer age down from 59. Bloomberg doesn't offer any speculation on Buick's new coupe, but we have no problem making educated guesses. Our most reliable conjecture is this: it will ride on General Motors' Alpha platform, which underpins both the Camaro and the Cadillac ATS. And with a certain twin-turbocharged V6 in the GM stable, we've got an idea of what kind of engine could be shown. That speculation will have to suffice for now. But don't worry, we'll have official details, live images, and video tomorrow when Buick unveils its new concept in Detroit's Eastern Market.
Question of the Day: Best recipient for supercharged GM V6?
Wed, Apr 20 2016The good old Buick V6 engine was built from 1961 through 2008 (including a decade of production by Kaiser-Jeep) and went into way too many General Motors vehicles to list here. In 1991, the supercharged version of the 3800 was introduced, with a Roots-style Eaton blower on top, and now you can find these engines in just about every junkyard in North America. The 3800 shares a bellhousing pattern with the also-made-by-the-zillions GM 60° V6 engine, which means that it will install (with varying levels of sledgehammer clearancing and/or axle mix-and-matching) into plenty of GM vehicles that never received the 3800 from the factory. That means one thing: engine swaps! An excellent example of this is the 1992 Chevrolet Lumina APV "Dustbuster" minivan, which is a fully caged high-performance road-racing machine that features a supercharged 3800 and 5-speed manual transmission under its long, vacuum-cleaner-snout-like hood. The RaceVan, in Springfield Monorail livery, will compete this weekend at the Michigan 24 Hours of LeMons race with Autobloggers Mike Austin, David Gluckman, and Alex Kierstein at the wheel. My personal choice for supercharged 3800 power, though, has to be the Cadillac Cimarron, preferably the not-so-sought-after Cimarron d'Oro Edition. Some bashing and welding and cutting and pasting and this lightweight Cavalier sibling could have well over double its original horsepower. So, what's your blown 3800 engine-swap choice? Experience the New York Auto Show by drone
Fri, Apr 10 2015The Autoblog team recently returned from wildly running around the Javits Center to cover all the news and debuts at the New York Auto Show. Sometimes, it's nice to take a more serene look at the exhibition floor, though, and the event's organizers are providing that exact opportunity by flying a drone through the hall. Combined with the down-tempo music, this clip feels like a form of automotive meditation. If you're going to miss the show in the Big Apple, the drone also provides a good overview at the exhibition floor, especially at the stands from Lexus, Buick, Dodge, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota and BMW. Plus, it's a fun way to see some vehicles from a completely different angle than they ever appear on the road.
