This is a numbers matching 1967 Buick Riviera GS. Star Wars Air Cleaner, Posi Rear End.  Rock solid and laser straight. Rust free and beautiful! REAL Gran Sport!!!!!!!!

This Riviera has the very rare headrest option and also the equally rare cornering lights.
Original gold car. Looks fantastic!
Following are a few facts taken from Hemmings Muscle Machines.

ENGINE
In 1967, the nailhead had been put out to pasture, replaced in all Riveras by the all-new 430-cu.in. V-8 introduced that year, coded MD. These engines have angled rocker arm covers and front-mounted distributors. A 400-cu.in. version of the engine, similar in all but bore, was used in the Skylark/Special body GS series. The 430 made 360hp at 5,000 rpm and 475-lbs.ft. of torque at 3,200 rpm, with a compression ratio of 10.25:1. It featured larger crank bearing journals, an exceptionally strong nodular iron crankshaft, and heads similar to those introduced on the small-block 300- and 340-cu.in. V-8s introduced in 1961. These engines were equipped with a single Quadrajet, and there was no dual-carburetor option. Cloaking the Quadrajet on GS models was the wild, red fiberglass Star Wars air cleaner, so called because of its resemblance to something Han Solo might use. This is a smooth and durable engine.

TRANSMISSIONS

The Riviera GS was equipped with the three-speed Super Turbine 400 automatic transmission, Buick's name for the Turbo Hydra-Matic 400, which came with a variable pitch torque converter for quicker launches. Recalibrated to allow shifts at higher rpm and featuring a reinforced valve body, the GS transmission wore a BS code on its identification tag.

DIFFERENTIALS

Rivieras used 10-bolt differentials of a design shared by Buick and Oldsmobile. These are strong units, and can withstand a lot of abuse. In 1966 and '67, the Riviera Gran Sport was equipped with a limited-slip differential with a 3.42:1 ratio, with options up to 3.91:1. The code can be found on the bottom of the right axle tube, three inches from the housing; 1966 cars should bear an "x" in a circle for the locking axle, and a 3 over a 42 for the ratio. For 1967, there should be a PY code, again denoting the 3.42:1 ratio and locking axle. The limited-slip unit did its job well:

This Riviera has not been registered or on the road since 1989! It show under 46000 miles on the clock. Judging by the general condition of this car, I believe it to be true but I do not have any documentation to back this up. I have the clean and clear OREGON title from 1989 ready to be signed over to the new owner.

It has just undergone a $6000 clean up of everything that I saw that was not perfect both on the interior, and exterior.  All work professionally carried out by Windy City Rods and Restorations. It is truly beautiful.
Before I got the car, it had a brand new paint job which I have had professionally wet sanded and buffed to a better than showroom finish.
It has a brand new vinyl roof, brand new carpet, headliner, and front seats have been recovered. The rears are original, and there are no splits, tears or signs of wear.
New motors on both front windows. Rears work just fine.

Under the hood has just undergone a complete paint, detail and tune up.

New under hood.

Valve cover gasket set
Spark plugs
Distributor rotor
Distributor cap
Ignition points and condenser set
Ignition wire set
Air filter
Wix oil filter
Oil pressure switch
V belt
All new fluids
Full stainless steel exhaust with Flowmaster 40 series Delta Flow Mufflers. (Sounds Amazing)
Drive shaft bearing
Alternator
Regulator
Wiper blades

All of the sheet metal is all original with only the trunk pan being replaced. There were a couple of pinholes in the original metal due to a leaky seal which has also been replaced with new.
Not that it was bad, but I had the rear bumper re-chromed. All of the chrome and stainless on the car looks great.

The car  is missing  a couple of small things on the interior.  It is missing the trim around the drivers mirror remote. I have not been able to locate one. It is also missing the rear defog vent cover from the rear package shelf as shown in the pic. That's it.
This car starts and runs like clockwork. Sounds amazing, dives amazing and stops amazing. All lights work including the flip down headlights. Go up and down no problem.
All heat and air components are there, but not in working condition at this time. Probably an easy fix. The 5 star Cragar rims don't look horrible, but they do have some pitting in the chrome. Can't tell unless really close up.

The pictures do not do it justice. You will not be disappointed with this car. It is a show stopper!

2021 Buick Envision order guide shows $32,995 base price

Sun, Aug 23 2020

Based on an early dealer guide Cars Direct got its hands on, the 2021 Buick Envision will bring more to the market than handsome new design inside and out. The 2020 Envision in 1SV and Preferred trims starts at $33,500 plus a $1,195 destination charge, totaling $34,695. The dealer guide shows the 2021 Envision Preferred starting at $32,995 after destination, a $1,700 cut compared to this year's model. The 1SV was also listed in the guide but didn't get a price. A Buick spokesperson confirmed to Cars Direct that the Preferred trim will be the new entry-level, so it appears the 1SV could go away. The two trims are equipped the same as standard, the difference being that Preferred opens up the options menu to features like the Active Package and a powered panoramic moonroof. That pricing puts the 2021 Envision thousands of dollars under of its luxury competitors like the Acura RDX, Audi Q5, Lexus NX, and Lincoln Corsair. The price of the middle Essence trim doesn't change, at $36,995 after destination.   The current Premium trim will be replaced by the Avenir trim. At present, the Premium trim only comes in all-wheel drive, which Buick has changed for the 2021 model year. A 2021 Envision Avenir with front-wheel drive will start at $41,395, which is $500 less than a 2020 Envision Premium with all-wheel drive. Adding power to the rear axle adds $1,800 to the price, the Envision Avenir AWD the most expensive model at $43,195. That's a $1,600 cut compared to the 2020 Envision Premium AWD. The only engine on offer will be a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 230 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, the same engine in the 2021 Envision's E2 platform-mate, the Cadillac XT4. That output falls between the two engines that can be had on the 2020 Envision, either the base 2.5-liter four with 197 hp and 192 lb-ft, or an optional 2.0-liter turbo four with 252 hp and 295 lb-ft.  Related Video:

Junkyard Gem: 1962 Buick LeSabre 2-Door Sport Coupe

Sat, Jan 29 2022

American car shoppers looking for a full-sized hardtop coupe in 1962 couldn't go wrong with the offerings from The General. Chevrolet would sell you a snazzy new Bel Air sport coupe for just $2,561 (about $23,800 today), but those Joneses next door wouldn't have felt properly shamed if you put a new proletariat-grade Chevy in your driveway. No, to really stand tall during the era of Alfred Sloan's Ladder of Success, you had to go higher up on the GM food chain. For the B-platform full-sized cars of 1962, that meant the Pontiac Catalina/Bonneville beat the Chevy, the Oldsmobile 88 was the next step up the ladder, and at the very top was the Buick: the hot-rod Invicta and its swanky LeSabre sibling. To go beyond that, you had to move up to a C-platform Buick Electra or Cadillac. Today's Junkyard Gem is a once-luxurious '62 LeSabre, now much-faded in a northeastern Colorado boneyard. The reason GM shoppers got so bent out of shape about the "Chevymobile" episodes of the late 1970s, in which some GM cars received engines made by "lesser" GM divisions, was that each division had its own family of V8 engines during the 1950s and 1960s and they weren't supposed to be mingled. The '62 LeSabre got a 401-cubic-inch (6.5-liter) Nailhead engine (so called because the valves were unusually small), rated at 265, 280, or 325 (depending on what kind of compression ratio and carburetion you wanted). That's not crazy horses for a big-displacement, two-ton luxury coupe of its era, but the small valves allowed for combustion chambers optimized for one thing: low-rpm torque. This 401 has the two-barrel carburetor, so it made either 412 or 425 pound-feet of torque. That's just a bit less than the mighty Cadillac's engine that year, and definitely sufficient to get this car moving very quickly. You had to pay a fat premium on the Chevrolet, Pontiac, and Oldsmobile B-bodies to get an automatic transmission (a three-speed column-shift manual was base equipment in those cars), but a Turbine-Drive (formerly known as the Dyna-Flow) automatic was standard issue on the 1962 LeSabre. This was an interesting transmission design that traced its origins back to the 1942 M18 Hellcat Tank Destroyer and used torque-converter multiplication to provide a CVT-like experience with no perceptible shifts (the driver could select a separate low gearset manually, so the shifter looks just like the one on the true two-speed Powerglide transmission).

Paul Newman's overachieving 'Volvette' up for bid

Thu, Jun 1 2023

For the longest time, it was the ultimate suburban family hauler. But this particular Volvo wagon had a life far beyond the Wegmans parking lots and high school playing fields. This particular 1998 V90 belonged to no ordinary soccer mom or dad, as Paul Newman owned it. Maybe he raced it around the rural roadways of Westport, Connecticut, with kids is tow or to pick up pizzas. The actor, who owned a race team in and out of three decades and racked up four SCCA National Championships, was given the “Volvette” as a surprise gift from one of his teams in 2007, so-called because it was crammed with a 400 horsepower 6.0-liter Chevy LS2 engine and four-speed automatic found in sixth-generation Corvettes from 2005 to 2007. The car, as well as dozens of artifacts of NewmanÂ’s racing career including rings, medals, art, and memorabilia, are on auction currently at RM Sotheby's online: High Speed: Paul NewmanÂ’s Racing Legacy. Bidding closes June 13. The V90 is one of two Newman machines on the block. Estimated winning bid is expected to be $20,000 to $25,000. NewmanÂ’s affection for Volvos dated back some time: his first pumped-up Swedish example was a1988 Volvo 740 powered by a 3.8-liter turbocharged V6 from a Buick Grand National. The car recently sold on Bring a Trailer for $87,777. The middle-child swapped Volvo was a 1995 960 with a supercharged 5.0-liter Mustang V8. Newman famously convinced friend David Letterman to get one (Letterman once co-owned Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing). Quipping that Volvo station wagons were “just as ugly as homemade shoes,” Letterman nevertheless ordered one and went on to rave about it. With upwards of 400 horsepower or more, one such modified Volvo 960 tested by Car and Driver was as fast as a mid-Â’90s Mustang Cobra. The hot-rod Volvo currently on offer accommodates Porsche 911 components in the front end and mods to the driveshaft. Says the auctionÂ’s description, “The exterior was kept unchanged, as Newman was known to prefer a stock look with his Swedish station wagons.” Sadly, Newman had not enough years left to sufficiently enjoy the Volvette. He died of cancer at age 82 a year after it was given to him. Related video: Celebrities Buick Volvo Auctions Automotive History Wagon
