1965 BUICK RIVIERA. 401ci ENGINE WITH CORRECT DUAL QUAD SET UP & POSI TRACTION. RUNS STRONG & DRIVES GREAT!

THIS IS A SUPER CLEAN, STRAIGHT & SOLID CAR. NOT A MUSEUM CAR. BUT A VERY NICE DRIVER.

THE BODY: VERY SOLID & STRAIGHT! THE CAR HAS BEEN RE-PAINTED ONCE. THE PAINT SHOWS VERY WELL! IT WAS A QUALITY PAINT JOB. THERE IS A SCRATCH IN THE RIGHT FENDER. ALSO A PAINT CHIP ON THE DECK LID THAT HAS BEEN TOUCH UP (shown in photos). IT ALSO HAS A COUPLE OF STONE CHIPS HERE & THERE. I'M NIT PICKING. BUT DON'T WANT ANY SURPRISES FOR THE BUYER. ALL IN ALL THE BODY & PAINT SHOW VERY WELL!

THE ENGINE & TRANS: 401ci WITH THE CORRECT FACTORY DUAL QUAD SET UP AS ON THE GRAN SPORT MODELS. IT ALSO HAS THE ALUMINUM BUICK VALVE COVERS. I WAS TOLD WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR THAT THE ENGINE HAD BEEN REBUILT IN THE LATE 90's WHEN IT HAD JUST UNDER 100k MILES. BUT I DIDN'T GET ANY RECEIPTS TO PROVE THAT. THE DUAL QUADS WERE PUT ON LESS THAN A YEAR AGO. THE ORIGINAL MANIFOLD, CARB & AIR CLEANER WILL GO WITH THE CAR. THE CAR RUNS GREAT! NO SMOKE OR NOISE (IT DOES HAVE A MINOR OIL DRIP FROM OIL PAN GASKET).  I ALSO WAS TOLD THAT THE TURBO 400 TRANS WAS REBUILT WITH THE ENGINE. THAT I KNOW TO BE TRUE. IT HAS A SHIFT KIT. YOU CAN FEEL IT WHEN YOU JUMP ON IT. IT'S VERY RESPONSIVE! THE NEWER FLOW MASTER EXHAUST SOUNDS GREAT! THE CAR HAS A TON OF POWER & SOUNDS LIKE IT!!

THE FLOORS & FRAME ARE SOLID. THE TRUNK PAN DOES HAVE A SMALL PATCH ON EACH SIDE BY THE WHEEL WELLS(see pics). I HAVE THE ORIGINAL TRUNK MATTING & SPARE ROAD WHEEL(THEY WERE REMOVED FOR THE PHOTOS). THE REAR SHOCKS & SPRINGS COULD USE REPLACING. A NEW SET OF SHOCKS & SPRINGS ARE INCLUDED WITH THE SALE.

THE INTERIOR: SEATS & DASH PAD ARE ORIGINAL & IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. HEADLINER HAD BEEN REPLACED WITH A VINYL ONE. I WOULD RECOMMEND GOING BACK TO THE ORIGINAL STYLE. CARPET IS SHOWING IT'S AGE(THERE IS A SMALL HOLE ON THE DRIVER SIDE). WOODGRAIN INSERTS ON THE CONSOLE ARE ALSO SHOWING THEIR AGE.

TIRES HAVE PLENTY OF TREAD LIFE. ROAD WHEELS ARE VERY NICE DRIVER QUALITY. A COUPLE OF THE EMBLEMS ON THE CENTER CAPS COULD USE REPLACING.

CHROME IS VERY NICE DRIVER QUALITY. SOME MINOR FADING IN SPOTS ON THE REAR BUMPER.

ALL 4 POWER WINDOWS WORK. POWER ANTENNA WORKS. POWER SEAT WORKS. BLOWER MOTOR FOR THE A/C & HEAT DOES NOT. NOT SURE WHY. I NEVER LOOKED INTO IT.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST... THE CLAM SHELL HEADLIGHTS. THEY ARE NOT WORKING. THE LINKAGE & MOTOR HAD BEEN PULLED. A GOOD USED MOTOR & LINKAGE WILL BE INCLUDED WITH THE SALE.

TO SUM THINGS UP. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL & VERY DEPENDABLE CAR. STARTS WITH EASE. IDLES NICELY. HAS A TON OF POWER. IT'S A GREAT DRIVER YOU'LL BE PROUD TO DRIVE ANYWHERE. IT JUST NEEDS A FEW MINOR THINGS TO TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

I'VE TRIED TO DESCRIBE THIS BEAUTY TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE. BUT IT'S POSSIBLE I MAY HAVE LEFT SOMETHING OUT. SO SERIOUS BUYERS FEEL FREE TO EMAIL YOUR QUESTIONS. I'M OPEN TO REASONABLE OFFERS. MORE PHOTOS ARE AVAILABLE TO SERIOUS BUYERS.

GM’s move to Woodward is the right one — for the company and for Detroit

Wed, May 1 2024

Back in 2018, Chevy invited me to attend the Detroit Auto Show on the company dime to get an early preview of the then-newly redesigned Silverado. The trip involved a stay at the Renaissance Center — just a quick People Mover ride from the show. IÂ’d been visiting Detroit in January for nearly a decade, and not once had I set foot inside General MotorsÂ’ glass-sided headquarters. I was intrigued, to say the least. Thinking back on my time in the buildings that GM will leave behind when it departs for the new Hudson's site on Woodward Avenue, two things struck me. For one, its hotel rooms are cold in January. Sure, itÂ’s glass towers designed in the 1960s and '70s; I calibrated my expectations accordingly. But when I could only barely see out of the place for all the ice forming on the inside of the glass, it drove home just how flawed this iconic structure is.  My second and more pertinent observation was that the RenCen doesnÂ’t really feel like itÂ’s in a city at all, much less one as populous as Detroit. The complex is effectively severed from its surroundings by swirling ribbons of both river and asphalt. To the west sits the Windsor tunnel entrance; to the east, parking lots for nearly as far as the eye can see. To its north is the massive Jefferson Avenue and to its south, the Detroit River. You get the sense that if Henry Ford II and his team of investors had gotten their way, the whole thing would have been built offshore with the swirling channel doubling as a moat. This isnÂ’t a building the draws the city in; itÂ’s one designed to keep it out. Frost on the inside of the RenCen hotel glass. Contrasted with the new Hudson's project GM intends to move into, a mixed-use anchor with residential, office, retail and entertainment offerings smack-dab in Detroit's most vibrant district, the RenCen is a symbol of an era when each office in DetroitÂ’s downtown was an island in a rising sea of dilapidation. Back then, those who fortified against the rapid erosion of DetroitÂ’s urban bedrock stood the best chance of surviving. This was the era that brought us ugly skyways and eventually the People Mover — anything to help suburban commuters keep their metaphorical feet dry. The RenCen offered — and still offers — virtually any necessity and plenty of nice-to-haves, all accessible without ever venturing outside, especially in the winter, but those enticements are geared to those who trek in from suburbia to toil in its hallways.

News anchor swaps his Roadmaster for a custom Buick Enclave Woody

Wed, Jul 10 2019

Dennis House, self-proclaimed car buff and Connecticut news anchor, thinks that with the impending launch of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer, woodies will make their grand return to the car scene in modern fashion. House wanted to get ahead of the potential trend and decided to create a one-of-one woody wrap for his Buick Enclave. On the rear quarter panel of the custom SUV, an aftermarket badge reads "Enclave Estate Wagon." It's a direct call back to one of the vehicles that has inspired House's love of wood-paneled family haulers, the Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon. House owns two Roadmasters, a black 1996 model and a 1995 woody. In making room for the Enclave, House has decided to sell the '96, which looks spotless and only has a bit more than 71,000 miles on the clock. According to GM Authority, who spotted House's Enclave, the look was achieved with a vinyl wrap. After exploring the idea of a first-gen Enclave woody or a Regal TourX woody, House decided the application worked best on a current Enclave. The mock-ups were done on the computer, and Scranton Cadillac Buick GMC completed the work. The wrap starts just beneath the headlights and wraps around the entire vehicle. Furthering the theme, House took a photo of the woody with a surfboard. For now, the woody look is not a factory option, but House hopes General Motors takes notice and considers offering the choice on future models. If not, just take your ride to Scranton Motors, and they could probably help you out.            View this post on Instagram                   What a cool new 2019 Buick Enclave for CT’s own Dennis House! Looking back at how and why GM saved Buick

Mon, Dec 19 2016

Still uncomfortably fresh in our collective minds is 2008, the year when the US economy tanked, auto sales collapsed, and both General Motors and Chrysler endured federally managed bankruptcies. Then 2009, when, among other draconian measures, the government task forces dictating what they were compelled to do to earn taxpayer financial support ordered thousands of dealers cut and GM to discontinue four of its eight US brands. Three of those chosen for GM's axe were fairly obvious: off-road icon Hummer had become politically incorrect, Swedish-born Saab was a perennial money loser, and product-starved Saturn had sadly sagged after its strong early start. On the other hand, high-volume value brand Chevrolet, luxury Cadillac, and high-profit GMC seemed clear keepers. That left Pontiac and Buick, both boasting strong brand heritage and histories but both languishing at the time with lackluster image and sales. Most believed that "old man's car" Buick would be killed and once-youthful Pontiac and its performance image would be revived. So few understood why when exactly the opposite happened: Buick lived, Pontiac died. One key factor was Buick's long, distinguished history in China. In the early 20th century, many of that country's most influential citizens owned, drove, or were driven in Buicks. By 1930, one out of every six cars on the roads in Shanghai was a Buick. So when GM launched vehicle production at a Shanghai joint-venture plant in 1999, the chosen brand was Buick. Today it remains GM's best-selling brand in that fast-growing market. Another was an appealing new design direction that began with a shapely 2006 three-row crossover concept called Enclave. Inspired by the Buick Velite concept convertible of 2004, its curvaceous "form vocabulary," GM Design vice president Ed Welburn said at the time, previewed coming Buick production car and CUV design. "The body shape flows, like there's wind blowing over it," he enthused, adding that the Enclave concept's richly trimmed cabin foretold "a renaissance in interior design for GM." And when the production Enclave arrived for 2008, followed by platform siblings from Saturn and GMC (and later Chevrolet), it indeed caught the public's eye and started selling well. And once past GM's painful and embarrassing bankruptcy, Buick has been on a major roll. Continuing to sell strongly in China while growing substantially in the US, it has enjoyed four straight years of global sales records.
