1989 Buick Reatta Sport Coup For Sale on 2040-cars
Morrisville, Vermont, United States

For Sale is my 1989 Buick Reatta Sport Coupe; these Buicks are rare and collectible now; this one was manufactured in November 1988 making it one of the early 1989 Models with the New Moon Roof Option for that year; Pop-up Headlights work perfectly; production numbers for 1988 was about 4,000 units and for 1989 about 7,000 units; Buyer responsible for pick-up and delivery; prefer pick-up before the end of June 2014 unless other arrangements are made; Rare black color exteriror with saddle colored interior; Car is fully equipped with Titlt Steering; Power Leather Seats; Cruise Control; Intermittant Wipers; Factory Fog Lights Electric Power Windows/Door Locks; Automatic Transmission; A/C; Stereo Radio with Cassette Player; Aluminum Alloy Rims with 4-Wheel Disc Brakes and ABS; 3.8 Litre V-6 Engine with 206K Miles (Engine runs very well and just had the Ignition Control Module replaced and a tune up); I have been told by several mechanics that GM's 3800 V-6 Engine is bullet proof and good for 400K miles; The car ran very strong from New York to Vermont, and cleared all the mountain passes with plenty of power and acceleration; selling extra car due to having to move this summer. Model Year 1989 introduced the factory Moonroof Option, and this Reatta has that option; the car could use a re-paint down the road as some of the clear coat is flaking, and some more cleaning inside, but all in all it is pretty straight and a good running car. A/C needs an R-12 Freon re-charge, but it still works fine and is just low on refrigerant (warning alert cautions about low refrigerant); I can have re-charged for buyer; the touchscreen system works, but ever so often if you hit a hard road bump, it will scroll and blank out; the PCM is fine and I have traced the problem to the ignition switch power relay; all the systems still work and a new ignition switch will probablly correct the problem. The driver's side door has two dents, and some scuffing on the door guards; it will need some body work to correct. Very comfortable car to drive and use. NADA suggest this car is worth about $3,800. This car has the rare black finish which looks really nice. I have had a lot of compliments about the car driving it around town for sure since it is so rare. For those of you who do not know, these Reattas are rare with very low production numbers and quite collectible now. They were hand painted and assembled by GM at the time; The car cost about $25K to $30K when new. Hate to see it go...Happy bidding! Any questions about conditionn just ask. |

Buick Electra-X EV caught testing on U.S. roads in new spy photos
Mon, Dec 12 2022Spies captured what they say are the first shots of the production-bound Buick Electra-X electric crossover. Bound exclusively for China (last we heard, anyway), the Electra-X is underpinned by GM's new Ultium EV platform, meaning it's fundamentally related to all of the American automaker's next-gen electric models even if we won't get one exactly like this. If you're a fan of GM's swoopy utility concept, we've got great news for you: it appears as though Buick's designers are bringing its design to production pretty much as we saw it originally. Our spies weren't able to get close enough to snag any shots of the interior, where we expect things to be a bit more toned down relative to the futuristic renderings offered of the concept, but we're prepared to be pleasantly surprised. We've already seen some evidence of Buick layering elements of this new look (as inspired by the Wildcat EV concept) onto its existing models. Earlier in December, the Encore GX was spotted in the wild wearing the new front-end look. Both the Wildcat and the original Electra concept were stunners, so we're excited to see what Buick's designers can do with this language going forward. Sadly, we've yet to see anything as low-slung and sexy as those original concepts, but we can always hope. Related VideoÂ
The Chinese experiment | 2017 Buick Envision First Drive
Fri, Sep 23 2016The 2017 Buick Envision is a very good five-passenger crossover. The "but" you should anticipate will come in good time. First it's worth understanding why it exists at all. Out of the ashes of GM's bankruptcy a few flowers blossomed and the carmaker is doing exceptionally well, certainly far better than Chrysler has done in the wake of its free fall into Chapter 11. But of all the surprises at GM's turnaround, Buick surely ranks highest, without question the least likely player to thrive if you only study the North American market. Look farther than our shores, to China, however, and you won't be shocked. Note that the Envision, which has been on sale in China for a year and a half, will reach about 200,000 units this year; the entire Buick portfolio in the US only totaled 223,000 cars in 2015. Not only is China Buick's primary market, but what it makes there, like the Envision, is intended for a different sort of buyer. Here, we'd call it a compact crossover. In China the Envision is a relatively large car, and the buyer there is far more likely to use it as a tall limo, or at the very least, as a big-time status statement. That buyer is also very likely to be in his or her mid-30s – the average Buick buyer in the US is getting younger, but, at 58, is hardly a millennial. Still, Americans who buy the Envision will benefit from all of this China focus. Huge effort went into its development since the target competitor in China is the Audi Q5, according to Rick Spina, Executive Chief Engineer for the Envision. Spina explained that Buick went to the trouble and expense of isolating the entire chassis from engine, suspension, and driveline vibration and sound penetration. "If you look at non-luxury models like Ford Escape, Honda CR-V, nothing's isolated, everything is hard-bolted to the body, and so all that vibration goes into the frame." Spina says that even though you'd guess the China-built Envision shares the general parts bin of the Chevy Cruze and Equinox, it's almost entirely unique. "It's kind of an orphan," he says, because GM couldn't afford to invest in the ride tuning Buick had to have to compete with Audi in China for a volume Chevy product, so nothing from Chevy (for now) is on this platform. And although it would have made sense to have Cadillac or GMC share it, Cadillac's XT5 and GMC's Acadia were already on a different development cycle. Besides, he's pretty proud that the Envision was developed strictly for Buick.
Neil Young's 1953 Buick Roadmaster Skylark brings $400,000 at auction
Mon, Dec 11 2017Singer-songwriter Neil Young's extensive collection of model trains have fetched nearly $300,000 at auction, along with classic cars and musical equipment owned by the 72-year-old folk-rock icon. Young, a model train enthusiast for decades, offered more than 230 pieces at Julien's Auctions in Los Angeles from his collection of Lionel trains, including a custom-painted Commodore Vanderbilt 4-6-4 locomotive that sold for $10,000. Several cars that Young owns were also sold. A 1953 Buick code 76X Roadmaster Skylark convertible with a steering wheel hub that says, "Customized for Neil Young," went for $400,000, the auction house said on Saturday. Young, best known for his Woodstock-era songs as well as his work with the bands Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young has said the vast model train layouts at his California ranch helped him connect with his son Ben, who has cerebral palsy. Other items auctioned off on Saturday included some of Young's guitars, amplifiers and microphones. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Bridge School in California, which Young's ex-wife Pegi Young co-founded in 1986 for children with severe speech and physical impairments.Reporting by Joseph AxRelated Video:
