I just bought two cars 2 months ago then went on vacation and bought a boat.  Now I, reluctantly need to sell both cars. This car was sold with the two tone paint, power steering, power brakes, automatic transmission, radio, tinted windshield and auto headlight dimmer .  All of the gauges and radio work.  The nailhead engine runs smooth, and it is a  great driver to enjoy as is and it is worthy of continued improvements.   The previous owner spent over $5000 to make the car safe and reliable by doing the work listed below:

Gas tank pulled and cleaned
New Main fuel line
Carburetor rebuilt
Complete tune-up
Replaced water pump
Flushed cooling system & all new hoses
New AC/Delco battery
Heater rebuilt including new heater core
Dynoflow transmission serviced, new torque ball seal
New rear brakes and wheel cylinders
Front brakes converted to later Riviera disc brakes
Master cylinder replaced with new dual unit & willwood proportioning valve
New power brake booster
New 235/15 radials on back & 215/15 radials on front
Factory 1960 Buick trailer hitch
New dual exhaust system
New gas shocks front and rear
Rear springs have air bag inserts

Glass is good and weather stripping is soft with no cracking. Chrome inside in great shape and outside looks good with the exception of some age spots on bumpers.  After coming out of a barn in Idaho, the head liner, seats and carpet were removed.  Floor was wire brushed and POR 15 painted. There is a small rust hole on the left quarter panel and 3rd seat floor has a 1/2 x 3" hole. Other than that, the car is solid. It has a front seat from another Buick and the lower part of the 3rd seat is missing.  The car needs carpet, headliner and seats.  Door panels are in good shape.  There is a bullet hole in the right front door (?).  Inspections are welcome.  If you have questions call Bob at 602-377-3363.

Opel Cascada close to getting green light for US

Fri, 13 Sep 2013

For a company with a long tradition of grand touring convertibles, it's almost unseemly that General Motors doesn't offer a properly relaxed four-seat convertible in North America. There's the Chevrolet Camaro, of course, but it's not big on rear-seat space and it doesn't offer that sort of serene demeanor that many open-air buyers crave. We're thinking of something more refined and, dare we say, elegant. Something a bit closer to the Opel Cascada.
The General's front-wheel drive convertible went on sale in Europe this year, and while it seemed like a natural fit for its Buick brand in America, it's never been sold here. That may be about to change, however. Back in June, CEO Dan Akerson hinted he'd like to see the Cascada available in the US, and now there's word from Edmunds that importation "could happen soon." That's according to an unnamed insider at the company.

Buick to use Velite name for its Cascada?

Mon, Dec 1 2014

Ever since Opel brought out the Cascada convertible last year, rumors have been flying that Buick would offer it Stateside – much like it does with the Insignia-based Regal and the Astra-based Verano. And now we might have our best clue yet as to what Buick might call it. According to GM Authority, General Motors has filed to use the name Velite on a new model. The name first appeared on a convertible concept unveiled over a decade ago at the 2004 New York Auto Show (pictured above), but GM reportedly opened an application to trademark the nameplate for production in 2011, seeking extensions on its application every six months since. Of course the fact that it's applied for its fifth extension (of a permissible six) doesn't necessarily mean that GM will ultimately bring the cabriolet to US showrooms, or that it will use the Velite name if it does, but the fact that GM is keeping the name alive could be a good sign. The market for relaxed four-seat convertibles has been shrinking, leaving it up to drop-top muscle cars like the Chevy Camaro and Ford Mustang. But with entries like the Toyota Camry Solara, Volkswagen Eos and Chrysler 200 Convertible having dropped off the market, the Buick Velite (or Cascada, or whatever it's ultimately called) could have the sedate cabriolet segment all to itself – even if (or especially if) Lexus dealers aren't interested in touching it.

GM laying off 500 workers to slow Chevy Sonic production

Sat, Oct 24 2015

Due to slow sales of the Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano, General Motors is cutting a shift at the Orion Township plant that builds the pair. The move lays off about 500 workers, but most of them are expected to get offers to transfer to other factories, Automotive News reports. The move came just a day after GM announced adding 1,200 employees to the Detroit-Hamtramck plant. GM has been trying all year at the Orion Township factory to align production of the Sonic and Verano with their demand. The automaker first attempted idling the plant several times and eventually resorted to laying off about 100 workers. It also reduced the production rate there. With the huge rise in popularity of crossovers, demand for the plant's small cars is on the downturn. According to Automotive News, there's currently a 116-day supply of Sonics and 100 days of Veranos to sell. Delivers tell a similar tale because the Chevy is off 35.2 percent from January to September, and the Buick does little better with a 27.2 percent drop from the same period last year. While the situation at Orion Township might look rough now, big things are on the horizon. Soon, the new Chevy Bolt electric vehicle will be built there when it hits the market around 2017. Plus, the plant will also get a $245-million upgrade and 300 new jobs for another, unannounced vehicle.
