Up for sale is a very clean 1970 Buick Electra 225 or Deuce and a Quarter as they were known for their overall length. Only a minor facelift with revised grille and taillight trim marked the 1970 Electra 225. The big news was under the hood, where a new 370-horsepower 455 cubic-inch V8 replaced the 430 V8 used from 1967 to 1969. This was the final year for the Electra convertible, finned aluminum brake drums and high compression engines. New this year was a concealed radio antenna, which amounted to two wires embedded in the windshield. This car comes equipped with power windows which all work, power steering, power brakes, power convertible top in great shape, off-white/cream colored vinyl seats also in great shape front and rear, tires are almost new with a lot of tread left. Drives like a dream being a larger frame car you don't feel the bumps in the road like the cars of today. Dash lights and headlight/taillights work as they should. Clean engine compartment. I tried to take the best pictures and show you the good and the bad. The good is the paint is in excellent shape with a small ding in the driver's side rear fender area, a very and I mean very small chip out of the left rear taillight, small chip in the molding and that is pretty much it. The top is in great shape, door panels, seating front and rear in great shape, am radio works great, has tilt wheel, just a real clean classic car. If you are looking for something that will turn heads then this is it. If you are expecting something that is 100% perfect then this probably is not the car for you but this is a solid 90-95% car. Has been repainted to match original color so the paint glistens like new. Will come with a clean Missouri title. There is no express or implied warranty, the car is being sold as is. I can tell you this that what I am describing in this ad is as factual as I can be.

Acceptable forms of payment are bank check, money order, personal check or cash. All will have to be verified except for cash. Man arrested after teaching his dog to drive a Buick 100 mph

Mon, Mar 30 2020

A Washington state man riding shotgun in an old Buick was arrested after fleeing a hit-and-run incident and leading police on a high-speed chase on an Interstate freeway. Meanwhile, the driver, his pet pit bull, got off scot-free. Such was the scene Sunday near Seattle, where police arrested a 51-year-old man from Lakewood, Wash., who told them he was teaching his dog how to drive. The man was apparently steering the car from the passenger seat. Reports say the man, whose name was not released, was driving his 1996 Buick on Interstate 5 when he allegedly struck two vehicles in South Seattle near the Boeing Access Road and then fled north on I-5. The car was spotted on the interstate near the Snohomish River in Everett, and officials told KOMO-TV the vehicle was driving more than 100 miles per hour when they began pursuit. The vehicle left the freeway near the Stanwood exit — 57 miles north of the hit-and-run — and then drove onto the nearby Centennial Trail, a rails-to-trail bike path. The chase finally ended after police were able to deploy spike strips. Police found the man seated in the passenger seat and his dog behind the wheel. The man appeared to have been steering for the canine. The man was arrested on suspicion of DUI, reckless driving and hit-and-run feeling eluding. Weird Car News Buick

GM announces net 220 job increase as Trump visits Michigan

Wed, Mar 15 2017

GM announced today that about 900 jobs would be added (or, importantly, retained) ahead of President Trump's arrival in Michigan, where he is expected to discuss his plan to roll back fuel economy standards. The timing of the announcement is almost certainly not coincidental, as appending it to a Trump visit gives it a higher profile and dovetails with the President's jobs agenda. It's less likely the decision itself was made for those reasons, but the free PR boost is a nice bonus. As for those 900 jobs themselves, they aren't all new jobs. The only net gain is approximately 220 jobs at the Romulus Powertrain Plant, which produces the 10-speed automatic transmission that's proliferating through the company's lineup. The 180 jobs at Flint Assembly and 500 jobs at Lansing Delta Township are retained jobs – that is to say, spots the company found for workers who would otherwise have been laid off. By the way, the Flint jobs will help with production of heavy-duty pickups, and the Lansing jobs are to produce the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave. Finding jobs for manufacturing workers in the auto sector, whether new or retained, is admirable. No matter how GM couches it, the company has created or retained a total of 7,000 jobs this year, and its total reinvestment in US production is around $1 billion. But these decisions are business ones, not political ones – timing the announcements to make them seem inspired by economic policy, or the political situation, is simply smart PR. Opel Cascada is Europe's Buick convertible [w/video]

Wed, 17 Oct 2012

As we reported earlier, there has been much speculation regarding a Buick convertible of sorts. The most ringing endorsement of this conjecture comes today from General Motors Europe, as the new Opel Cascada has debuted on the interwebs. Opel calls the four-passenger Cascada an "athletic, glamorous midsize convertible." With a length of 4,697mm (185 in.), the Cascada is as long as an Audi A5, to which GM has said it would be slightly larger.
The Cascada, which is Spanish for waterfall, features a cloth convertible top that retracts in 17 seconds and at speeds up to 50 km/h (31 mph). The Cascada features a 1.4-liter turbo gas engine, 2.0-liter turbodiesel with 165 horsepower and a range-topping 1.6-liter turbocharged Ecotec engine that puts out 170 horsepower and 280 Nm (207 lb-ft). Power is sent through either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
According to GM, the Cascada will also come rife with luxury and tech features. In addition to adaptive forward lighting and ergonomic heated front seats, the convertible will feature Opel Eye, which is a front camera that can recognize traffic signs and incorporates lane departure warning and forward collision alert.
