1960 Buick Flxible Flxette Landau Hearse on 2040-cars
Stockbridge, Georgia, United States
Mileage: 101,256
Make: Buick
Model: Electra
This car comes from Hollywood California. I have had it for 8 to 10 years and I bought it from a 1960 Buick collector. He bought from a hearse collector in Hollywood. I do not know about the service history of the car but I can obtain that information. I have just been lazy and not sent the vin to the gentleman with the information. I have not driven the car in 2 years. The car has 101,000 miles on her. I last had it running about 6 months ago. What I have noticed is the brake pedal is on the floor. The brakes will have to be redone. I also remember why I quit driving it. There is no reverse. It has never worked since I've owned it but it never stopped me from driving her. If you notice how its parked I have a non running Chevelle in front of it and don't have a truck anymore to pull the car back, like I said no reverse so she sat. I do have dynaflow transmission out of a 1960 Buick Invicta sedan to go with the car. It shifted fine in the Invicta. The front floors have some rust in the front where they kick up and that is where the body mounts are. Very typical rust for a 1960 Buick. All the door bottoms are solid but there are some bubbles in the corners on the outer skins. The right rear door was patched and I pulled the patch off to weld in a new one but never did. The quarter in frony of the rt rear wheel has a patch to and will need to be redone. It was not proffesionaly done. There just a few bubbles on the hood in the front. It can be fixed but I have have a very nice hood Ill give you. The drivers fender has some some rust in the lower section, I would personally replace it but it is repairable. The pass fender looks good. There are a few bubbles on the drivers rocker as well. The back door bottom is solid but the outer skin has bubbles at the bottom where Flxible seam sealed it. Common on 59-61 Flxible rear doors. Not a difficult repair. The lower inside rear qaurters will need some patching but there is planty metal to work with. For a 53 year old car it is in very good shape but a project. The interior fair. The floor is very unique. The gold flake linoleum is an ambulance flooring and expensive. This Flxible funeral coach is the only one I have ever seen with this floor. This car has a lot of options. The radio is also pretty unique in a Flxible. The front seat and door panels are not the original materials. The last owner took the glove box apart, but all the parts are there. I believe I have a good glove box pad but not sure yet. The original radio is still there and other than the ugly paint this car is original. Even the curtains are original. The landau Irons are not original. Flxible used the same Irons from the 40's till 1964 so finding a set should not difficult I have seen several on Ebay. Also the car was originally all black but was repainted white with a black top at one point before being painted like it is. All black with a dark grey and red interior makes this an amazing looking coach if restored! I know engine is good and the original 401 for the car. The car has tons of power. I remember the last time I drove her she would get up and go. She does run and drive but only good enough to get on a transport. The brakes need to be rebuilt to get on the road safely. Included are a nice hood. I also have real good front bumper I don't need. A good transmission. I also should have all the beltline trim and the "I" for the hood. I do not have Flxible emblems for the car. The car needs 3. They were Used on all Flxible from the 30's till 1965 but are hard to find. I owned 15 1960 Buicks until recently so I have a huge collection of parts. Anything that will fit it I will throw in. In fact the original sunvisor brackets were broke so I put a set in the back today. I will look and see if I have a drivers fender I know I have a few rust free fenders I just dont know what side. I have Air conditioning out a 60 Invicta if you need it. I believe this one is an "Air ready" car. It was a rare Buick option so the dealer could install air if needed but it was not installed at the factory. No promises but I will see what I have. I have not cleaned this car up. It is what it is. It is still how it was when I bought it. All I have done is drive it. I don't believe in hiding anything you are more than welcome to come see it in person. The car is in Stockbridge GA. I have taken several more pictures you can find them here. Paypal only with in 48 hours of the auction close unless you can bring me cash locally. It will not give me that option in the ads payment section. I will message the high bidder as soon as the auction ends with my contact information to make this easy and an easy transaction. The first thing I want you to know is this is one of 2 known surviving 1960 Buick Landau Hearses. If you want a rare car this is it! Only 6 were ever built. I have been collecting 1960 Flxible Buicks for close to 20 years. I have owned 5 at one time and have activly been searching for surviving cars and documenting them. I still own several 1960 Flxibles and am unsure as to my ability to hang on to them forever but they are not for sale at any price at this time. When I buy them I never sell them, but Recently there have been some very unfortunate events in my family beyond my control and the maintanence and storage on some of my collection is not possible anymore. Not only that, the restoration of this vehicle will be out of my reach. As much as it pains me to get rid of her. I think it is best for the vehicle to go to someone that can give it the restoration it desearves. In 1960 Flxible built 110 Flxible Flxettes all were on Buick Electra Chassis. Flxible offered several types of Flxette (Ambulance, Combo, Panoramic Landau, Service car, Limo Hearse and Landau Hearse). The Flxette was a cheaper coach being built off a standard Buick wheelbase. The Premiers were stretched. Today there are 20 documented surviving 1960 Buick Coaches. 3 are Cotner Bevington Ambulances built off 1960 Buick Lesabre Chassis. 7 are Flxible Premiers built off Electra Stripped Chassis. (a naked 2 door sedan with Electra drivetrain.) 10 are Flxible Flxettes Built off Electra Chassis. (I believe naked station wagons with Electra drivetrain.) Of the 10 Flxettes there are, 1 service car, 1 ambulance (originally a combo), 1 panoramic landau (has not been seen in 15 years), Two Landaus and all the rest are all combos. Production wise 91 were combos. They were the most versitle and funeral homes usually ran the ambulance service as well. The were the most plentiful and funeral homes took care of them so most surviving cars are Combos. Ambulances were the next popular bodystyle with 8 being built. Unfortunatly they were abused and generaly not saved. The exact number of Landaus built is 6. There was 1 service car built, 1 Panoramic Landau and 4 limo hearses. Bill of sale ONLY. Georgia will not issue a title on any vehicle over the age of 40. If you need one, CA and Ohio will issue a title for out of state vehicle over a certain age I am told. I have had a few questions about making payments. I can't do that. I need you to PayPal the full balence due within 24 hours of the close of auction, please. Even after you paypal the money, it will take several days for me to get it. I have things that I need to pay too. Thank you.
Also the vehicle is in a storage yard and safe. You do not have to move it right away but are welcome to. I don't want to store it forever but if you need a month or two to arrange pickup, that is fine. I will work with you anyway I can.
Thanks

Junkyard Gem: 1990 Buick Reatta
Wed, Oct 4 2017General Motors built some interesting sporty cars during the late 1980s and early 1990s, as the company attempted to claw back market share from European manufacturers of high-end two-doors. There was the mean-looking Oldsmobile Trofeo, the Turin-to-Hamtramck Cadillac Allante, and the gadget-packed Buick Reatta. Here's an example of the latter car, wearing Maui Blue paint and residing in a Denver self-service wrecking yard. There was a lot to like about the Reatta, but the powertrain came as a disappointment: the ancient, rough-running pushrod Buick 3.8-liter V6 engine, driving the front wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The 3800 engine made 165 horses in 1990, which wasn't bad for that year, but Reatta money would have bought you a new 1990 BMW 3-Series with a tuneful 168-horse DOHC straight-six. The Buick V6 was something of an Albanian grain-thresher motor compared to the engines in the Reatta's European rivals' cars: rugged but crude. The pre-1990 Reattas came with Buick's amazing touchscreen computer interface, which may have scared off the most conservative Buick traditionalists. This car had more typical-for-1990 controls. Only 6,388 Reatta coupes were made for 1990, so we're looking at one rare Buick here. Handcrafted by these artisans in Lansing. J.D. Power customer survey of dealers counts Cadillac, Buick as big winners
Mon, 14 Apr 2014Cadillac and Buick have taken the trophies in J.D. Power's latest Customer Service Index Study examining satisfaction with dealer service. Surveying more than 90,000 owners and lessees of 2009-2013 model-year cars, the study found that those with pre-paid maintenance packages were ten percent more likely to buy their next car from the same brand.
Dealer satisfaction scores have improved overall, Cadillac nabbed the luxury segment ahead of Audi and Lexus, taking the crown that Lexus held last year. Buick keeps the mass-market dealer satisfaction win in the family, finishing ahead of Volkswagen and last year's winner GMC. The study also found that service department use of tablets increased customer satisfaction, as did "best practices" like "providing helpful advice." Who knew?
You can find details on those and more findings in the press release below.
Kia leads J.D. Power's Vehicle Dependability Study for 2022
Thu, Feb 10 2022For the first year ever, Kia leads J.D. Power's annual Vehicle Dependability Study with a score of 145 problems per 100 vehicles. Buick (147) and Hyundai (148) round out the top three. The highest premium brand on the list is Genesis, with a score of 148. It's common for so-called "mass market" brands to lead this particular study, according to J.D. Power, as "premium" brands "typically incorporate more technology in their vehicles, which increases the likelihood for problems to occur" and aren't necessarily built to a higher standard that less-expensive brands. The highest-rated single nameplate is the Porsche 911. It's the third time out of the past four years and the second year in a row that Porsche's quintessential sports car has taken top honors. Porsche as a brand sits in seventh place (162) just behind Lexus (159) and ahead of Dodge (166). At the very bottom of the list is Land Rover with a dismal score of 284; the SUV specialist held the same unfortunate distinction on last year's list. Ram (266), Volvo (256), Alfa Romeo (245) and Acura (244) also performed poorly. The overall industry average score sits at 192 — mass market brands average a score of 190 while premium brands sit 14 points lower at 204. While Tesla is unofficially included in some of J.D. Power's results, the agency says the sample size it has access to for this study is too small to include. As has been the case for the past several years, infotainment systems dominate the list of problems reported by owners. Popular (or unpopular, depending on your point of view) complaints include built-in voice recognition (8.3 PP100), Android Auto/Apple CarPlay connectivity (5.4 PP100), built-in Bluetooth system (4.5 PP100), not enough power plugs/USB ports (4.2 PP100), navigation systems difficult to understand/use (3.7 PP100), touchscreen/display screen (3.6 PP100), and navigation system inaccurate/outdated map (3.6 PP100). While problems with the car's infotainment and technology packages are indeed bothersome, it's important to remember that such issues aren't usually leaving owners stranded with an immovable vehicle like a broken transmission or blown engine would. Culling infotainment complaints from the results would reduce the average problem-per-100-vehicle score by a staggering 51.9 points. The vehicles included in this study are from the 2019 model year. That means owners have had three years to get to know their cars and trucks. It's the 33rd year that J.D.
