Classic Muscle Car, Gran Sport, 400, Skylark 1969 on 2040-cars
Tampa, Florida, United States
I am the fourth owner of the Gran Sport and this is the history per the last owner. The first owner purchased the car in Canada and had the car for many years. I have reciepts for maintenance by the original owner showing mileage into the 70,000 + mile range. The car was sold to the second owner, a Fireman in New Jersey, who also kept the car for 8 or 9 years and sold the car due to poor health. The third owner was also a Fireman and a friend of the previous owner. He retired and brought the car to Florida and also developed health issues which prevented him from maintaining the car to his standard and sold the car to me.
All matching numbers. This is a rare big block muscle car as only 7602 Gran Sport 400 were manufactured in 1969. It is very difficult to find one or see one at a car show in this condition. It comes with the original GM Protect-O-Plate metal warranty card as issued to the original owner,Owners Warranty booklet and Owners Manual. Also have the original Buick dealership's booklet of infromation on their 1969 lineup of vehicles including specifications of the Gran Sport 350 and Gran Sport 400 . The following is an overview of the car. 1. 400 cu.in. engine rated at 340 HP and 440 pounds of torque ( without Ram Air ). With Ram Air Buick rated the engine at 367 HP and 466 pounds of torque. 2. 10.25 to 1 Compression ratio 3. Engine runs at approximately 75 pounds of oil pressure at driving RPMs. 4. Emgine does not smoke, burn oil or leak 5. Does not run hot 6. Turbo 400 Transmission, considered one of the best heavy duty transmission manufactured by GM 7. New Electronic Ignition and spark plug wires 8. Newer hoses and belts 9. 3:31 Posi-Traction rear gears with a 12 bolt heavy duty rear differential 10. Duel exhaust, Mufflers and exhaust pipes replaced at about 79,000 miles 11. Power Brakes, with rare Aluminlum Finned front brake drums 12. Power Steering, no leaks 13. Power Windows, (all work perfect) 14. Tilt Steering wheel 15. Wood steering wheel with Buick Logo on center horn cap 16. Rear window defroster, blower in trunk, not wire in glass. Work great 17. Heater / Defroster and blower fan all work. 18. Cigarette Lighter does not work as a lighter, but has electrical power for accessories 19. Rally Sport Wheels, original factory and in excellent condition 20. BF Goodrich Radial T/A 235-60-15 tires with very good tread depth 21. Original Factory radio 22. New GM certified carpet ( 80% Rayon & 20% Nylon Loop-Pile with 36 oz. jute padding ) Same as factory 29. New matching floor mats with Buick Tri-Shield enblem 30. No cracks in the dash 31. Newer vinyl top in excellent condition, no rust under top or around glass molding 32. Parking brake works 33. Trunk has been sprayed and has mat. no rust 34. Original jack ( refurbished to like new ) Full size spare 35. Front suspension is solid with no excessive play, recent lube of all points 36. Newer Gabriel Ultra Shocks 37. Floor pans appear to be solid. No rust found when new carpet was installed. 38. New oil change and Delco filter When I purchased the car it had an aftermarket JVC stereo AM / FM / CD player with plug in feature for front and/or rear for Ipod / Portable Audio Player type accessory. The owner had the original radio which was in amazing condition. I removed the JVC unit and reinstalled the original Am radio. The JVC stereo will fit in the glove box and comes with the wiring harness and installation and operating instructions. Color coded wiring matching the wiring harness were capped under the dash and would be easy to reconnect to the JVC unit. This is becoming more common for people who like the original look but would like to enjoy a more modern sound system. Also the rear speakers are new. This is an option offered to the buyer. Please no low ball offers. I do not have to sell the car. Also no trades. |

GM recalling 2013 Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac SRX over transmission software
Thu, 21 Mar 2013The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued recalls for the 2013 Buick LaCrosse and 2013 Cadillac SRX due to a problem with the software for the transmission controller. On about 27,000 SRX and LaCrosse models, the transmission could accidentally be shifted to Sport mode, which would reduce the amount of engine braking drivers experience.
NHTSA says this could increase the risk of a crash, but, fortunately, the required fix is simply an update to the software.
While we're on the subject of General Motors vehicle recalls, a small number (48) of compressed natural gas versions of the 2011 Chevrolet Express are also being recalled for a potential risk of fire or explosion. Yikes. Both official recall notices are posted below.
2018 Buick Enclave First Drive Review | Fortress of quietude
Fri, Oct 6 2017ATLANTA, Ga. — The 2018 Enclave is part of Buick's effort to reinvigorate its brand, positioning itself as a maker of "attainable luxury" vehicles. That means a total redesign, a number of safety and technology upgrades, and the introduction of the Avenir sub-brand (think of that last one as sort of the Denali of Buick). It also means more space and more luxury. With this in mind, we traveled to Atlanta to get to know the new Enclave, both in the city and on a long drive through the Blue Ridge Mountains into North Carolina. Our first impressions of the new Enclave came not from the driver's seat, but from a captain's chair in the second row (which is the traditional seating arrangement for a true captain, of course). We were riding from the Atlanta airport to a studio to learn more about the vehicle. That very first impression was, "Wow, this interior is really nice." The leather upon which we sat was soft, smooth to the touch, and interesting in its shapeliness. Looking around the cabin, we saw a lot of gentle curves and thoughtful accents that made the inside of the Enclave feel downright premium. It was a fresh and airy sense of taste though, and definitely not the seasoned wood-and-whiskey stodginess one might expect from the Buick name. Our second impression: "Boy, it's quiet in here." Heading toward downtown Atlanta on the freeway, we were unable to pick up wind noise, and only just a smidge of road noise as the Enclave trundled over the occasional rough patch of pavement. This is, of course, completely intentional on the part of Buick. The windshield and front windows use acoustic glass. The doors are triple sealed for a tighter, quieter fit when closed. Buick has insulated the Enclave with more sound deadening and included active noise cancellation. "Our goal is to make it as social as possible," said Dean Perelli, chief engineer for the Enclave. And social it is. It is easy to carry on conversation across the Enclave's three roomy rows. When we got out of the Enclave, we had a chance to take it in from the outside. It features attractive, wing-like lighting front and rear. The front signature lighting uses technology called "Evonik Acrylite," (a mouthful, even for the engineers) which is a polycarbonate material arranged in a dazzling, faceted and delicate array. The paint finishes we saw were attractive, with depth.
Next Buick Regal to inherit styling cues from Opel Monza concept
Mon, 06 Oct 2014Ever look at a concept car from a foreign auto marque like Opel and wonder what relevance it will have to you as an American consumer? Well, we'll tell you: at least as far as the Opel Monza concept goes, it could mean a lot.
Speaking with Automotive News at the Paris Motor Show, Opel chief Karl-Thomas Neumann said, "You will see the Monza when you see the next Insignia." And the Insignia, we needn't point out, is essentially ported over to American showrooms as the Buick Regal.
The relationship between the Regal and Insignia only stands to grow closer as Opel design chief Mark Adams has also been charged with tightening the bonds between the two automakers positioned on opposite shores of the Atlantic. Adams also intends to imbue the next Insignia with more "premium brand values" in order to "add polish to the brand." Which in turn means that the Regal will be designed to look more upscale, too.
