1972 Buick Skylark Suncoupe, 79k Original Miles, Original Paint, Lifetime Fl Car on 2040-cars

UP FOR BIDS IS PROBABLY THE NICEST ORIGINAL CONDITION 1972 BUICK SKYLARK SUNCOUPE IN EXISTENCE. FOR THOSE THAT DON'T KNOW THE SUNCOUPE IS A VERY RARE CAR SPORTING A VINYL ACCORDIAN TYPE FULL SUNROOF; THERE WERE LESS THAN 3500 PRODUCED.
IT IS A LIFETIME FLORIDA CAR WITH NO RUST AND STILL SPORTING ITS FACTORY ORIGINAL SANDALWOOD (BEIGE) PAINT AND WHITE VINYL INTERIOR, BOTH IN GOOD CONDITION. IT PRESENTLY SHOWS 79,950 MILES AND COMES WITH A CLEAR FLORIDA "ACTUAL MILEAGE" TITLE, AND THERE IS NO REASON TO BELIEVE THIS IS INCORRECT. THE BROWN VINYL TOP AND SUNCOUPE SLIDING TOP WERE REPLACED 2 YEARS AGO DUE TO SHRINKAGE FROM THE FLORIDA SUN. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO RUST UNDER THE ORIGINAL VINYL TOP, ALMOST UNHEARD OF FOR THESE GM A-BODY CARS. THE RENOWNED MIKES AUTO TRIM HERE IN SARASOTA DID THE TOP REPLACEMENT. THE CAR RUNS BEAUTIFULLY AND SHIFTS SMOOTHLY. THERE IS A SLIGHT TRANSMISSION SEAL LEAK WHEN THE CAR SITS FOR A LONG TIME, BUT SEALS RIGHT UP UPON USE OF THE CAR. I DID ADD ELECTRONIC IGNITION A FEW YEARS AGO AND HAVE BEEN PLEASED WITH THE ADDED PERFORMANCE.
I HAVE SIX BUICK SKYLARKS AND THIS IS THE BEST CONSISTENT RUNNER. THE BATTERY IS NEW AS WELL AS THE FIRESTONE RADIAL TIRES MOUNTED ON THE ORIGINAL SPORT WHEELS. THE FACTORY DISC BRAKES HAVE NEVER GIVEN ME ANY PROBLEM AND STOP WELL. ALSO, THE CARBURATOR HAS BEEN RECENTLY REBUILT. THE ORIGINAL PAINT IS THINNING IN PLACES ESPECIALLY AROUND THE TRUNK KEY AND IN BACK OF THE VINYL TOP AND IT DOES HAVE THE USUAL DINGS AND SCRATCHES EXPECTED ON A 41 YEAR OLD CAR WITH ORIGINAL PAINT. THE ORIGINAL BROWN SUNCOUPE STRIPES ARE ALSO THINNING BEHIIND THE TOP. THE R-134 CONVERTED AC BLOWS COLD AND THE ORIGINAL AM/FM WORKS WELL BUT ONLY THRU THE REAR SPEAKER. SOMEONE DID DISONNECT THE HEATER CORE YEARS AGO BUT THIS HASN'T BEEN A CONCERN FOR THIS FLORIDA CAR. THE INTERIOR HAS NO RIPS OR TEARS, THE DASH AND STEERING WHEEL ARE CRACK FREE, THE BLACK CLOTH HEADLINER IS NEAR PERFECT, AND THE BLACK ORIGINAL CARPET IS PRETTY GOOD, ALTHOUGH THINNING UNDER THE GREAT CONDITION ORIGINAL BUICK MATS. THERE IS WEAR ON THE DRIVERS BOTTOM SEAT CORDING AND THE HARD BACKS OF THE BUCKET SEATS ARE FLAKING FROM AGE. THIS IS A COMMON OCCURANCE WITH THESE A-BODY BUCKETS. THE REASON I AM SELLING THE CAR IS I RECENTLY ACQUIRED AN ORIGINAL FAMILY OWNED SKYLARK CONVERTIBLE THAT HAS SENTIMENTAL VALUE AND I NEED THE GARAGE SPACE FOR IT.
I ENCOURAGE YOU TO ASK ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS AND TO INSPECT THE CAR BEFORE BIDDING. MY PHONE NUMBER IS 941-953-9565. THE CAR IS AT MY HOME AND READY FOR INSPECTION. GOOD LUCK BIDDING. THIS IS A RARE CHANCE TO OWN SUCH AN ORIGINAL WELL CARED FOR SUNCOUPE, ESPECIALLY THIS WELL EQUIPPED. |

Buick luxury sedan design sketch would make a great flagship
Tue, Nov 29 2022Over the Thanksgiving holiday General Motors posted a sketch of a futuristic Buick sedan to social media. In fact, the sleek wedge is just the latest in a series of illustrations that seem to point the way to a luxury EV coming in 2024 (for model year 2025). That's when Buick has promised its first fully-electric vehicle, with the promise that the entire lineup will be gasoline free.      View this post on Instagram            A post shared by GM Design (@generalmotorsdesign) The sketch shows a low, long sedan that seems to be inspired (or perhaps served as the inspiration for) the Buick Wildcat concept revealed in June. However, there are significant differences as well. The sketch shows a profile that's more cab backward than the Wildcat's, with a gently sloping roofline that's more Audi A7 than the physical car's aggressive Nissan GT-R-like top. The front end is less busy than the Wildcat's as well, with the chrome better integrated into the fascia and headlights. Similar brightwork appears on the rocker panels and on the fenders behind the wheel arches, cues the Wildcat concept lacks. Buick's updated logo sits at the end of a sporty BMW-esque trough on the hood. Of course, the exaggerated wheels have such little clearance they wouldn't really be able move or turn, much less survive a pothole, but we can forgive that artistic liberty. Other recent sketches shown on the GM Design account on Instagram show a more refined version of the same sedan, but without the Wildcat's Honda CR-V-esque taillights. Another super-luxurious coupe with hints of Syd Mead looks just as beautiful but is unbranded and may work better as a Cadillac. The Buick brand feels a bit redundant these days, but stunning designs like these could help differentiate the brand. The General has plenty of trucks and SUVs already. If it's going to foist crossover after crossover at us, maybe the Buick division could stand out as the sedan-and-coupe-only brand. Related video:
2018 Buick Enclave: How engineers made it larger, lighter, more sophisticated
Wed, Apr 12 2017Buick used the unveiling of the 2018 Enclave at the New York Auto Show to introduce its new range-topping Avenir sub-brand to the world. With fancier interior finishes and exterior details, it's Buick's latest effort to make itself a proper luxury brand (or perhaps re-establish itself as such). However, lost in the Avenir song and dance is the fact that the 2018 Buick Enclave is a (very) long-awaited all-new model regardless of the trim level one selects. Like the Chevrolet Traverse upon which it is based, the new Enclave is bigger than the vehicle it replaces but considerably lighter, by about 400 pounds. "We told every engineer, 'get your job done, but then take the weight out,'" said engineer Rick Spina as we hovered next to his larger yet lighter creation. His team therefore set about taking a little bit of weight out from just about everywhere, from using additional aluminum in the suspension to varying the thickness of the frame (thicker in places that needed to be stronger, thinner and therefore lighter in places that didn't). Only about 100 pounds came out of the body with the rest coming from elsewhere. Not only will the reduced weight improve fuel economy (Buick-estimated at 19 mpg combined with FWD versus 18 for the 2017 model) and presumably the old Enclave's rather ponderous handling, but it should only make things easier for the new powertrain: General Motors' now-familiar 3.6-liter V6 and its latest nine-speed automatic. With 302 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, Buick says the new engine will need 7.2 seconds to reach 60 mph with FWD or 7.5 seconds with AWD. That's a second quicker than before. Besides acceleration, towing is also bumped up by 500 pounds to 5,000. For those models with all-wheel drive, the Enclave has the same basic system featured on range-topping versions of the Buick LaCrosse. Besides power being sent front and rear, it can also differ from right to left in the back, although Spina is quick to point out that capability is for traction-enhancing purposes rather than sporty, handling-enhancing torque-vectoring ones. Buick owners already appreciated the Enclave for its quietness so the engineers decided to take it that much further. This included altering the exhaust, improving body sealing (there are triple door seals), including active sound deadening and utilizing advanced materials that absorb sound as opposed to simply being thick, dense and heavy enough to keep it out.
2017 Buick LaCrosse gets Avenir-inspired tease
Wed, Sep 23 2015Stylish touches from the beautiful Buick Avenir Concept are actually hitting the road on the front end of the new 2017 LaCrosse. The brand is showing off this single teaser of a more angular grille surround than what is currently seen on its lineup. In the center there's a three-color version of the well-known Tri-Shield badge. Chrome wings meet at the logo, and vertical chrome bars lead the eye up over the body. A version of this design is eventually becoming part of the entire Buick lineup by 2018. Debuting at the 2015 Los Angles Auto Show in November, the future LaCrosse rides on stronger, lighter underpinnings than the current model. It also gets a five-link rear suspension. The company promises that the changes mean a more engaging drive from the sedan. "The Avenir concept shattered expectations of what a Buick could be and the 2017 LaCrosse promises to do the same," Duncan Aldred, vice president of Buick, said in the release of the teaser image. The show car's look was highly praised by critics when it debuted at this year's Detroit Auto Show. The Avenir even won Eyes on Design awards for Best Designed Concept Vehicle and Innovative Use of Color, Graphics, and Materials. A striking evolution from current Buick models, LaCrosse features a grille design that puts a new face on the brand, including a new, three-color tri-shield insignia set on a wing-shaped element. Contrasting with darkened waterfall grille bars and spanning the width of the opening, it connects the grille and headlamps, and emphasizes LaCrosse's new sculptural surfacing. The design was introduced on the Avenir concept and was inspired by the 1954 Wildcat II concept. It's a face all Buick models will adopt by 2018. "The Avenir concept shattered expectations of what a Buick could be and the 2017 LaCrosse promises to do the same," said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Buick. "Its expressive design represents a break from convention and highlights the progressiveness in all new Buick models." The next-generation LaCrosse's design is framed on an all-new chassis that is stronger yet lighter than the current model and serves as the foundation for a more dynamic driving experience.
