4 Door Sedan (model 72R) – 322 CI V8, 188 HP, original Carter 4bbl carburetor, 12 volt original electrical system. Power Steering, Power Brakes, DynaFlow automatic transmission
Great ride in this very reliable, crowd-pleasing classic. 64,278 original miles. Tenderly cared for. Runs great – starts first time every time with complete reliability. Cruises effortlessly on the highway. We purchased this car from Wisconsin family in 1999 and have enjoyed many fun filled times with this classic cruiser.
Engine: Less than 6K miles on this COMPLETE ENGINE OVERHAUL (professionally done: pistons, rings, bearings, camshaft, lifters, timing chain/gears). Includes hardened (stellite) valve seats – runs exceptionally on NO-LEAD GASOLINE. Delivers great power and has no issues.
Cooling system has recently recored 4-tube radiator, new water pump (less than 6K miles) and provides good cooling. Also includes auxiliary electric fan for additional cooling support in low speed (parades, etc.).
Transmission shifts smooth and effortlessly in all driving conditions. Has some of the minor expected fluid seepage, but not a concern.
Undercarriage is in surprisingly great condition for a 61 year-old classic. The wide-whitewall steel belted radial tires have less than 6k miles plus new shocks and coil springs provide a dreamy, smooth ride. Features 1953 Buick optional wire wheel covers that are in great condition. Power brakes professionally reconditioned provide firm stopping. Steering is effortless with Buick’s power steering. Alignment is straight and no concerns cruising down the highway.
Body is straight and has no rust! Paint is classic black – refinished with base-coat/clear-coat approx. 20 years ago. A few of the very minor expected finish imperfections for a car of this vintage, but no major issues. The chrome and stainless trim, bumpers and grill are all there and look great. Glass is all good with a few very minor discoloration in the vent windows.
Interior door panels, headliner and dashboard are in great condition. Classic 1950s dashboard with plenty of shiny chrome! Speedometer, tripometer and all gauges function fine, except the gas gauge which needs some attention. Includes original radio and clock that are currently not functioning and need some attention. Windshield wiper motor is vintage vacuum type that need reconditioning. Seat frames, springs and padding are fine - need recovering. All doors and windows function perfectly. Trunk is huge, lock works fine and is in great shape.
Electrical system (generator, voltage regulator, etc.) is in great shape, no concerns. Battery replaced in 2013. All lights (headlights, high beams, directionals, interior) function properly. Wiring is intact and in great shape.
Includes original owner’s manual and Buick OEM Shop Manual.
This is a great, well-maintained, reliable classic that has been in our family for many years and is ready for your cruising adventures.

Ford, Toyota clean up in Best Car For The Money Awards

Fri, 22 Feb 2013

The U.S. News Best Cars for the Money Awards picks winners by looking at the average transaction price, five-year total cost of ownership, the regard a car has from the automotive press, reliability figures from J.D. Power and Associates and safety data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The result, according to the magazine, is "the best combination of critical acclaim and long-term value."
Ford nabbed six of the 21 categories that received awards this year, the Focus, Fusion, Fusion Hybrid, Taurus, Escape and Edge getting trophies. Toyota and its Lexus and Scion sub-brands took another five, the Tacoma and Tundra owning the two categories given to pickup trucks. The other ten awards were split between Honda with three, Buick with two, and one each for Subaru, BMW, Hyundai, Chevrolet and Mazda.

Buick celebrates 110 years by naming most significant model of each decade

Sun, 23 Jun 2013

In May of 1903, Buick began work on its first vehicle, the 1904 Model B, the first example of which was sold to a doctor in Flint, Michigan. That first sale was appropriate since later on, Buick became known as a "doctor's car." The Model B is the first of 11 cars chosen by Buick to highlight each decade of the company's 110-year history.
The 1916 D-45 Touring with a six-cylinder engine was Buick's highest seller that year, and helped push overall sales past six figures for the first time, making Buick the top-selling automotive brand. In 1931, Series 50 got an eight-cylinder engine, which helped the company survive the Great Depression. The 1936 Century was the first Buick that could hit 100 miles per hour, the 1949 Roadmaster had a supporting role in Rain Man, the 1953 Skylark had Italian wire wheels and the owner's name engraved on its steering wheel.
Then we have the iconic 1963 Riviera, the V6-powered 1975 Regal, and in 1987, the legendary GNX. With a turbocharged, intercooled V6 pumping out 276-horsepower it could hit 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds. In 1999 Buick built the first car in China, the Century, and that country remains the brand's largest market.

2013 Buick Encore

Mon, 10 Dec 2012

City, Slicker
We admit it. We have no earthly idea how this whole thing is going to shake out.
Typically, after driving a new car or truck, we come away prepared to hazard a guess as to whether said model has a good chance of being a sales success. We've amassed enough time watching the industry, scrutinizing the competitors, and so on, to make a reasonably educated bet. Yet here we are, days removed from driving the new 2013 Buick Encore, and we still have no bloody idea.
