1948 Buick Roadmaster
Chopped started by an apprentice of famous customizer Joe Bailon, "Candy Apple Joe". Chop needs finishing, but is set into place and looks great. I purchased this car 4 years ago from an older gentleman in Sierra City, CA. His son worked with Joe Bailon and handled the chop himself. It was an all original California car before the chop was performed. The car is rust free, with only surface rust on top of the roof. Otherwise, the floors, all fenders, hood, decklid, and chassis are completely dry. The car is mostly complete, minus interior. Side trim is there and in good condition. Grille & bumpers in great condition. Rear glass is installed and good condition. This car has great potential. I do not have the time or money to follow through with it. I hope someone can see the potential and continue the work needed to put it back on the road. Here are some facts and details: -Rust free (top of roof has surface rust) -Chassis is all original and rust free -Floors are solid, rust free, no patches -The rear tailpan, located beneath trunk area does have rust....the only area of rust on the entire vehicle. I have included clear pictures. -All fenders are in great condition, no previous repair, rust free, no major dents, and complete with fadeaway pieces for doors -All side trim is included and in good condition -Hood is not original to car, but is an original paint hood that I purchased in Oklahoma. It is in beautiful condition and perfect for restoration. -Decklid is in primer and excellent condition. Opens and closes perfectly. -Trunk floor is dry and rust free, minus the tailpan section which is not part of trunk floor. -Most of inside of body has factory undercoating and has preserved the metal nicely -Front doors line up nice, and open and close just fine -Dash is all original and complete -Steering wheel is in great condition and ready for restoration -Original side window trim is included and great condition. -Interior window garnish moldings are included as well -Window regulators included -Grille and bumpers are straight and excellent condition -Lots of misc. interior trim pieces and other cosmetic pieces are included. Work needed: -Chop will need to be finished, especially in the rear fenders/trunk area -All original body pieces are included....nothing missing to complete the chop -Tailpan piece will need to be patched or replaced due to the rust -Hood is not bolted to hinges currently -One hood latch is missing -Needs motor and transmission. I have included as many pics as I could to show an honest representation of the car. This is a full project car, and will take somebody who knows what's involved to complete it. With that said, if done properly, this could be a very nice custom and very valuable too. This is a true Roadmaster, the biggest and best of Buick. Please ask any and all questions. 2018 Buick LaCrosse Avenir gets dash of flash
Wed, Nov 8 2017The 2018 Buick LaCrosse Avenir continues the rollout of the top-trim Avenir line, joining the Enclave. They use the same strategy: package some extra features as standard and give the vehicles more design flair. On the outside, the LaCrosse Avenir gets shiny chrome mesh grilles and Avenir badging, just like the Enclave. Two types of wheels are available on the LaCrosse, either 19-inch pieces finished in "Pearl Nickel" or 20-inch versions finished in "Midnight Silver." Inside, there is exclusive chestnut brown leather interior. The Avenir logo is stitched into the headrests of the seats and is displayed on the door sill plates. Aside from the visual tweaks, the Avenir trim adds a bunch of standard features. Among the convenience items are navigation, a sunroof and a Bose sound system. It also features the nine-speed automatic transmission hooked up to the 310-horsepower V6. But items such as the trick all-wheel-drive system and continuously adjustable suspension are still options. Pricing hasn't been announced yet, but expect it to be more than the $42,090 of the next highest-trim LaCrosse Premium with the V6. And Buick expects it will sell plenty of these cars, since it also revealed that 90 percent of LaCrosse buyers choose the top two trims out of the four available. 2019 Buick Regal GS Review | Because Buicks are allowed to be cool, too
Mon, May 27 2019Buick continues to try to convince everyone that its cars are cool, but we still haven't seen much evidence of this working. However, the 2019 Buick Regal GS is exactly the car that can help change people's minds about Buick in 2019. It has big red Brembos sitting inside superbly stylish wheels, bright red GS emblems everywhere, aggressive bodywork and some of the best sport seats in any car today. Buick truly made the GS look the part, and if you can get past the brand's Wal-Mart greeter personality, you're going to like the way it drives, too. The Regal GS is powered by GM's 3.6-liter V6 that makes a healthy 310 horsepower and 282 pound-feet of torque in this application. That gets mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission, which is the only option for the GS this time around. The previous generation Regal GS offered a six-speed manual, but we weren't missing it too badly here. With seemingly every car under the sun going the turbocharged route, it was refreshing to see GM use a big, naturally aspirated V6. Even stranger was that the Regal GS before this one was boosted, so you could say GM went the opposite direction of the industry trend. That previous GS made 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque from its turbocharged 2.0-liter four cylinder. So, while the V6 beats it by 40 horsepower, the old GS has it by 13 measly pound-feet of torque. Still, we dig the V6, because this car's power delivery is fantastic with a snarly but restrained exhaust note to go with. My largest quibble is taking off from a stop. The GS's throttle response is a little numb from the get-go, but put any revs to it and the car is ready to leap forward at any speed. This immediacy is increased when you put it into "GS" mode, which sharpens up the throttle, quickens shifts, stiffens the suspension, sends more power to the rear wheels and makes the steering heavier. The nine-speed is seamless and unobtrusive in traffic, but offers up surprisingly quick shifts when you're flat-out. Most of the time I end up ignoring the paddle shifters on cars with torque converter automatics, so I wasn't exactly missing them here. You can select the gears via the gear lever's slapstick function if you really want to, but it's hardly more engaging than just letting the car go at it. In GS mode it holds gears long enough and resists shifting out of the power band. During fall-attack on a backroad, it works smart and is on-par with the eight-speed in our Stinger GT long-termer.
We really want to use an eCrate to restomod an old GM car. Here's what we'd build
Fri, Oct 30 2020You hopefully saw the news today of GM's introduction of its Connect and Cruise eCrate motor and battery package, which effectively makes the Bolt's electric motor, battery pack and myriad other elements available to, ah, bolt into a different vehicle. It's the same concept as installing a gasoline-powered crate motor into a classic car, but with electricity and stuff. This, of course, got us thinking about what we'd stuff the eCrate into. Before we got too ahead of ourselves, however, we discovered that the eCrate battery pack is literally the Bolt EV pack in not only capacity but size and shape. In other words, you need to have enough space in the vehicle to place and/or stuff roughly 60% of a Chevy Bolt's length. It's not a big car, but that's still an awful lot of real estate. There's a reason GM chose to simply plop the pack into the bed and cargo area of old full-size SUVs. Well that, and having a rear suspension beefy enough to handle about 1,000 pounds of batteries. So after that buzz kill, we still wanted to peruse the GM back catalog for classics we'd love to see transformed into an electric restomod that might be able to swallow all that battery ... maybe ... possibly ... whatever, saws and blow torches exist for a reason. 1971 Buick Riviera Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski: If you’re going to build an electric conversion, why not do it with style? ThatÂ’s why IÂ’m choosing a 1971-1973 Buick Riviera. You know, the one with the big glass boat-tail rear end that ends in a pointy V. Being a rather large vehicle with a big sloping fastback shape, IÂ’m hoping thereÂ’s enough room in the trunk and back seat to pack in the requisite battery pack. That would likely require cutting away some of the metal bulkhead that supports the rear seatback, but not so much that a wee bit of structural bracing couldnÂ’t shore things up. The big 455-cubic-inch Buick V8 up front will obviously have to go. Remember, this was the 1970s, so despite all that displacement, the Riviera only had around 250 horsepower (depending on the year and the trim level).
