 Hello,
Up for sale is my father's 1965 Buick Rivera. Possibly a once in a lifetime opportunity. Most likely this is the rarest of all Rivieras. It is a factory X code car. I didn't know they existed until a few years ago when he purchased this one. It is one of 454 built for 1965. You can  study the internet for 65 Riviera X code information but in short it is a "Sleeper" Riviera. The Riviera Owner's Association has info. on this model. This car has all the GS items from the factory but without the emblems. A former owner found a build paper to verify this is in fact an X code car. The paper is sealed in plastic in the glove box currently. Nobody knows how many of these still exist but I am sure only a handful survived. It's currently in our family's Riviera collection. It has been inside the garage with all others since he purchased it in 2008. The problem now is we have run out of room and some cars must go. Many have sentimental value and this car doesn't so it will be offered for sale. It has been viewed by many people since dad has owned it. Some people consider our Riviera collection one of the best in the south and this car is picked by many on-lookers as their favorite in our garage. It has not been driven much over the last 5 years. Possibly a few hundred miles is all. The car shows a little over 2400 miles, I believe the restoration shop set the odometer back to 0 when they finished the car. The last time it was on the road it drove straight and had no issues. The air conditioning even worked. The car hasn't been moved from the garage this year but is still running and driving in great condition. I haven't tried the air conditioning but if it needs anything it only would be gas since many new components have been installed to insure it would work. The interior is flawless. It looks almost new. Chrome, carpet, seat covers, wood trim, stainless, etc... all look great. This car even has the horn bar in tact on the steering wheel which is very rare. The only issue I would fix and have been meaning to is a small crack in the leading edge of the dash pad. The pad was perfect until an employee of my father's placed his hand on it to brace himself to wash the windshield and pushed too hard. It was not a good day! However, these pads are not too hard to find and easy to install. Everything electrical inside worked when he last drove this car. The pictures show the only item non original and it's the radio. A modern cd player and 2 speakers are neatly installed. It does sound good. The engine was fully rebuilt by the previous owner. He has some bills to verify. Thousands of dollars were spent on this engine and hardly no miles are on it since restoration. The engine is beautiful! Shining paint and new components all over it. Topped off by a huge chrome Super Wildcat breather with all factory carbs underneath it. It even has the original washer glass bottle. Very clean under the hood. The transmission shifts great and appears to be rebuilt. The rear end is a posi and has no issues. All components are original to this car. The attention to detail spent on these cars was amazing. Even the trunk is classy. Everything in it looks showroom new. The paint is pearl white. It's super slick and straight. Thousands of dollars have been spent by a previous owner painting this car. Due to age it does have a few small blemishes but nobody ever notices them. Over all I would give the paint a 9 out of 10. Door jams and around the hood and trunk are flawless. We didn't paint the car but see no signs of rust repair.  I have never had to wash this car. I have only wiped dust from it with a soft rag. It's beautiful. The chrome bumpers are freshly chromed in show chrome. The stainless is all polished. Small pitting on the tail light bezels but not bad. The clamshells and outer chrome rings are nice. They still operate up and down. The grill is nice. The Buick chrome wheels are original and only one has a couple of chips in the chrome but still is nice. The other 3 are super nice. Tires are wide white walls by Firestone and are like new. Exhaust was new when I purchased it and exit below the back bumper. Very nice deep sound. Underside is clean. I could go on and on about this car. Fact is it's a super rare vintage milestone Detroit car. He hates to part with it but the time has come. He has much money in it and bills for thousands spent on it. Hopefully the next owner will be as proud of it as we have been. Open your garage from time to time and let others appreciate it.  A  $1000 deposit must be sent immediately through paypal. Contact me to discuss remainder of payment. I will not arrange shipping but will assist in meeting the truck. Car is located less than one mile from I-26 in Johnson City, TN. Please come look in person. Check my feedback. Thanks for looking!

Buick to kill Verano as early as 2017

Mon, May 9 2016

The Buick Verano's days are allegedly numbered. Citing unnamed sources, Automotive News is reporting that Buick will kill its Delta-platform-based sedan. The company offered the typical "no comment." According to AN, Buick is expecting 70 percent of its sales to come from the Encore, Envision, and Enclave once the Envision goes on sale. And it doesn't take a professor of economics to recognize that when half the vehicles you build account for just 30 percent of the sales, it's time to trim. But the case for killing the Verano is a weird one, because the problem isn't a lack of demand. Struggling sales might be the reason to kill a car, but the Verano is – and has consistently been – Buick's second best-selling sedan. It's beaten the slightly larger, more expensive Regal by at least 12,000 units in each of the last four years. Hell, in 2013, Buick sold 45,000 Veranos to fewer than 19,000 Regals. So why not kill the Regal? Well, the Verano's raison d'etre is irrelevant today. Buick launched its smallest sedan at a time when premium compact four-doors weren't a thing and gas prices were high enough that consumers were still hesitant to tie themselves to a CUV's fuel bill. And while it was roughly the same size as the Chevrolet Cruze that it shared GM's Delta platform with, it had enough unique equipment to stand apart and warrant its price premium. Today, fuel prices are cheap and consumers are flocking to crossovers while Buick is stuck sharing the premium compact pie with much more prestigious names ( Mercedes-Benz and Audi). And because it's sharing showroom space with the super-popular Encore, even the Verano's affordable pricing has become a liability. Today, a lightly equipped Verano is the same price as a base Encore, and they offer broadly similar features (rear-view cameras, a seven-inch touchscreen with Intellilink, Bluetooth, etc.). And if the Encore is too small, there's probably a GMC Terrain sitting in the same showroom, offering more utility and equal equipment to the Verano for a similar price. As one dealer told AN, "For not much more money, customers can get an SUV." Killing the Verano might risk 30,000 to 40,000 sales, but it's a move that proves Buick has tremendous confidence in its CUV lineup – clearly the company thinks the Encore can do the job of luring customers into showrooms. AN's sources claim the Verano will survive through 2017, so we'll be waiting a few years to find out if that faith is misplaced. Related Video:

First 2013 Buick Encore TV ad features... dinosaurs

Thu, 14 Mar 2013

The whole "SUVs as dinosaurs" trope has become something of a threadbare cliché among auto writers, but that doesn't mean the wider world of consumers has caught on to the Jurassic nature of our line of thinking. That's what General Motors appears to be betting on, at least. Just check out Buick's first television spot for its 2013 Encore, the tiny crossover that is pushing the Tri-Shield into territories unknown while looking to outrun the brand's reputation as a refuge for elderly clientele.
Set to air this weekend on ESPN during the NCAA college basketball tournament, the ad plays up the Encore's maneuverability and surprising interior space by setting the baby Buick amongst a herd of lumbering CG dinosaurs created by Tippett Studio, the folks behind Hollywood blockbusters like Jurassic Park, Ted, and the Twilight series of films.
We can't help but snigger a little - while the Encore is indeed surprisingly roomy, nimble, and composed, our first drive found it to be glacially slow, too... not unlike a certain prehistoric race of animals. Check out the commercial below and judge for yourself.

GM may have teased a whole group of electric vehicles

Tue, Jan 12 2021

During GM's big CES press conference, the automaker highlighted a number of its upcoming electric car-related projects from delivery vans to the upcoming flagship Cadillac Celestiq. In the middle of it all, a collection of mystery cars sat in the background behind speakers. They were in the dark, lit only with their running lights, and while it's possible they're just generic filler cars or concepts, we think they could be future products. Our best shot of the cars together is shown above, and we can pretty easily identify three of the vehicles. In the center is obviously the GMC Hummer EV. On either side of it are Cadillacs. To the left seems to be the Lyriq crossover, and to the right is the Celestiq sedan. Two of these cars have production dates, and the third has been confirmed for eventual production, just without timing. This is why we think the rest of the cars are upcoming models. The next most easily identified car is on the near right behind the Cadillac Celestiq. It very clearly has a Chevy bowtie illuminated in the running lights. And looking closely, it appears to be a pickup truck. It's difficult to make out anything more than that. The nose does look a bit more rounded and swept back than the brick-like designs of the Silverado truck line. That also squares with what seemed to be the upcoming truck that appeared in the background of yet another GM presentation. GM previously said this electric Chevy truck will be a full-size model with up to 400 miles of range. That leaves us with three more mysterious models. Over to the left behind the Cadillac Lyriq are what appear to be a pair of crossovers. The one on the far left looks low, curvy, and possibly with a fastback roof. The one on the right is taller, boxier, and probably more of a full-size people hauler. It's hard to say much more beyond that. They could be new electric Buicks, which would fit in nicely with that brand's crossover portfolio, and would likely be highly successful in China, where Buicks, crossovers and electric cars are all rather hot commodities. As for the mystery car on the far right, it's quite a puzzle. We can at least rule out Buick and Cadillac, and GMC since it's definitely a car, and a rather small one compared with the other cars on display. That leaves Chevy, and possibly the autonomous division Cruise. We're leaning toward it being a Chevy, since the first Cruise vehicle is going to be a boxy pod of sorts.
