1973 Buick Riviera Green Sport Coupe on 2040-cars
Miami Beach, Florida, United States

Up for sale is my 73 Riviera with 53,000 miles. The previous owner rebuilt the 455.4 engine, who at the time owned a local speed shop. I threw in some upgrades after 1 bought the car such as, Kenne bell aluminum valve covers, Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, Hoolley 800cfm. carburator, Mallory unilite ignition, MSD.
Coil + Wires and Holley rechargeable air filter. The car also had timing chain and sprocket replaced. The transmission was also completely rebuilt back in 2006 and shifts smooth and has plenty of torque (373-rear end gears installed) at time of rebuild.
All of the brake system was replaced except for the power booster, this heavy machine stops better than some new cars 1 have driven . The exterior which is very clean and straight was originally willow mist green, I had the car repainted with a DuPont 2 tone irodecent green gold paint that really pops and always turned heads, (jambs not painted) The interior has bucket seats with shifter on the floor.
The back seat has a small tear as does the passenger door armrest, the dashboard has a crack in it but I have a spare, overall very clear for just about 40 years old. There are a few things to list that I never got around to fixing. 1. the car has factory A/C - not working 2. cruise control not working 3. smart- track option not working 4. the car had the factory moon roof (extremely rare) installed which probably only needed new tracks, but the last owner decided to install a new vinyl top and headliner instead of fixing it (what a DUMBASS). Also being that this is an east coast car the trunk pad has some rust that I wanted to replace, trunk has no spare being it was wired for sound system.
Overall this is a clean strong running Bobtail that has been garage kept since I bought it and only driven in good weather, I put about 12,000 miles on the car since engine and transmission were done.
You can turn key and drive it away no problem. I have a bunch of spare parts to go with the car including original intake, all the glass except for front windshield, a bunch of trim pieces, dashboard, and a trunk lid.
I have described this car the best I can, if you have any questions please ask, thanks and good luck.... Tommy; 239-384-0229 |

Junkyard Gem: 1956 Buick Special 4-Door Sedan
Sun, Aug 6 2023Buick was flying high in the middle 1950s, with an all-time sales record of nearly 800,000 cars sold for the 1955 model year alone. Buick stood proud in third place for new-car sales in the United States for 1955 and 1956, behind only Chevrolet and Ford. At this time, both Oldsmobile and Buick built cars on the GM B Platform, with the Buick being the swankier and more prestigious of the two. Here's one of those Buicks, found in a Denver self-service boneyard recently. The list price of this car was $2,416, or about $27,505 in 2023 dollars. Located one step down on the GM Ladder of Success, the 1956 Olds 88 sedan started at $2,226 ($25,342 now). The Oldsmobile had a 324-cubic-inch (5.3-liter) Rocket V8 rated at 230 horsepower, which was serious stuff for 1956. This 322-cubic-inch Buick Nailhead V8 made ten fewer horses for 1956, but it would be bored and stroked out to 364 cubes for 1957 (and was all about land-yacht torque, in any case). A three-on-the-tree manual transmission was standard equipment on the 1956 Buick Special, but this one has the $204 Dynaflow automatic transmission ($2,332 in today's money). The Dynaflow usually gets called a two-speed, but it drove like more of a very inefficient (yet smooth) CVT that had two manually-selected ranges. This car spent too many decades outdoors to have any chance of a restoration. As often happens with cars stored in fields in rural Colorado, someone used this Buick for target practice. The bullet holes look like little VentiPorts. Does the '56 Buick go? Va-va-va-voom!
Buick really wants us to know the new Cascada convertible won't leak
Thu, Apr 16 2015Quality testing on the factory floor is nothing to joke about. Automakers need to make sure the work being done is up to snuff, and that means some extensive checks. For Buick, that means using a lot of water for each of its Cascada convertibles. Each vehicle that rolls off the floor is subject to a high-pressure, ten-minute soaking that sprays nearly 20 gallons of water from each nozzle during every bath, just to guarantee the fabric roof hasn't sprung any leaks. For some reason, Buick has chosen to show off this testing with the help of what we imagine is the Gorton's Fisherman's baby cousin. Check out the strange testing video, available up top.
GM announces 6 recalls covering nearly 720k cars
Wed, 23 Jul 2014General Motors has announced yet another sprawling recall campaign, with six separate elements covering 717,950 vehicles on US roads. At this point in 2014, it's starting to seem like there are more days with a GM recall than without. Perhaps most troubling about this latest volley, though, is that every vehicle is from the past few years, indicating that GM's quality woes may not be limited to pre-bankruptcy vehicles.
The largest element of this latest campaign covers 414,333 units, and includes the 2011 to 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, 2010 to 2012 Chevy Equinox, GMC Terrain and Cadillac SRX and the 2011 to 2012 Buick Regal and LaCrosse. Only vehicles with powered, height-adjustable seats are covered. In these particular cars and crossovers, the bolt that secures the height adjuster actuator may loosen of its own accord and in some cases fall out completely. If this happens, the seats will be able to move both up and down. GM claims the vehicles are safe to drive, provided drivers don't vertically adjust their seats. This particular issue has caused one crash and three injuries.
