UP FOR GRABS IS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS 1956 BUICK SPECIAL CUSTOM. BODY IS THE MOST DESIRABLE 2 DOOR HARTOP. HANDS DOWN THIS CAR IS BETTER THAN NEW! DON’T WAIT FOR THE AUCTION TO BE OVER, I’M RUNNING A FIXED PRICE AUCTION SO YOU KNOW WHAT IT TAKES TO BUY THIS CAR AND I AM OPEN TO REASONABLE OFFERS. ANYTHING BELLOW CERTAIN NUMBER IS AUTOMATICALY DECLINED.
THIS 1956 BUICK CUSTOM has been professionally restored over the last 3 years by Herbs automotive of Signal Hill, California. I have all the receipts for body and paint totaling $16k and that does not include the additional $4 for House of Kolors black sparkle 3 stage paint and all supplies. $20k body and paint! You can absolutely assume the body is flawless. Taken down to metal, no rust, no damages. Door handles, hood and trunk emblems and fuel tank door have all been shaved. It was blocked and guide coated several times, then base coated and cleared, sanded and cleared, sanded and cleared and finally sanded and buffed to super mirror finish. Body panels this large deserve nothing less. And believe me, it’s spectacular! House of Kolors is the best paint there is, This particular black sparkle is so intriguing , goes from black to platinum sparkle under different light, simply gorgeous. I have about a half a gallon leftover paint for touch up or repairs. The roof is painted Pearl white metallic. With the exception of the Black sparkle, the car is as it left the factory. Color code is CAA {White/Black/Black split}. Finally, the look is finished with very tasteful pinstripping.
The front end of the car was apart for paint and all the engine bay aprons have been powder coated.
After the body was finished, the car was assembled with all new re-polished, re-chromed trim. I purchased all new glass all around including the vent windows, all new rubber weather stripping everywhere. Again, professional assembly by Herbs Automotive at a cost of $9k. Plus $5k for the chrome and polishing of every little stainless trim you can see including the side glass channels and rails. New window felts as well. Truly like new.
All new wiring for power windows and power door poppers with remote. Radio with CD and iPod is hidden under dash and operated by remote control. New battery.
Engine has been rebuilt and nicely detailed by previous owner with all new gaskets and water pump. ZERO, let me say that again, ZERO leaks {that is unusual for old Buick, let me tell you}. The motor starts and runs like a champ. Gas pedal actuated starter. 322ci Naihleads are indestructible. Dynaflow transmission has been rebuilt 1300miles ago at a cost of $3450.
Car has new steering box with new gears and new power steering pump. Front suspension lowered and all new shocks and bushings, very smooth and secure ride. Powder coated rims and brand new Coker tires.
New brake with power booster – the car stops like my Porsche – light touch of a pedal and massive stopping power comes to life. Very safe to drive and confidence inspiring.
In the interior I restored the dash and painted it body color. Seat upholstery is very nice with only 2 unfortunate rips as pictured bellow, otherwise very nice. The carpet and sound deadening mats are new about a month ago. All new door panels and kick panels at that same time. New package tray and speakers in the back.
The car rides very smooth, engine pulls great. Stops on a dime. ‘Go anywhere’ car as documented in the videos. And remember, it's just a step down from Cadillac in the GM line up.
Long story short, the car looks fantastic, gets tremendous attention and if you ask me, it’s worth twice the asking price. Very rare and more so with original rebuild drivetrain. If you can find the same car with the same detail and look, as documented as mine for less money, buy it! These cars are well known but very rare. You come to a show where there be 50 Belairs and 1 or 2 Buicks...
I’m a real seller looking for real buyer. I do not, however, need to sell. I’m looking for private buyer-owner rather than a middle man if I can have my choice. This car needs and deserves nice steady home. I know a lot about it and would be happy to keep in touch in the future with the new owner.
Please, feel free to contact me at 949-491-433O with any questions, but only after you’ve seen all of the 112 photos and watched the videos. I’ve prepared the listing to be self-explanatory. You should know what you’re looking at if you know anything about cars. All the pics and videos {I have ton more} come included with the sale as a necessary piece of its history. More often than not, restored cars do not have any documentation of their condition before/during the restoration, sometimes for good reason. with this car, seeing is believing :-)
I'm not a dealer, I don't flip cars. I restore cars for myself and enjoy the process from A to Z and especially finding the right long-term owner for them. I keep in touch with most of my buyers as I love these cars. See my youtube videos ...
And I love this Buick. I'm looking for someone who will too. I know a lot about it and no doubt the buyer will want to be in touch after the sale, so it's a relationship of sorts. And a bad way to start that relationship is with an insulting offer... I understand the urge but no ridiculous offers are necessary. If you feel you still have to negotiate but cannot make reasonable offer, I suggest you buy a project and restore it yourself. I know for a fact that if you value your time, it's better to buy finished, proven car instead of a project, ESPECIALLY Buick, trust me on this one. Thank you J
Disclaimer: Car, although restored, is 59 years old and therefore considered used. As such, it is sold with no warranty, AS-IS. Clear title in hands with current registation till 2015. Yellow plates do not go with the car if it sells outside of California.
International buyers contact Steve Feeney at 323-645-4242 at www.rinkens.com {the best local source for international shipping in my opinion - this car can be shipped to EU or AUS for less than $1500}.

2018 Buick Regal TourX First Drive Review | Pop the champagne, it's another wagon!
Tue, Jan 30 2018As a newborn member of an endangered species, we should probably pop open the Dom to fete the arrival of the 2018 Buick Regal TourX. It's a wagon, after all, and if there's anything we automotive writers have been clamoring for is more wagons. "Forget those SUVs," we've implored. "This wagon over here is better! Just as much cargo space, better to drive! And have you seen it in brown?" Well, it seems like our collective proselytizing is starting to pay off, or perhaps far more likely, consumer tastes are shifting a bit to appreciate the wagon. Sure, they need to be lifted a bit and sport plastic fender flares to add a wee bit of SUV-ish flavor, but who the hell cares? Beggars, choosers, etc. It's a wagon, and we should be happy it's here. And we are, the Regal TourX is a pretty good one that thankfully offers more than just its mere existence. It especially delivers on the space front, which is refreshing since most of today's wagons are not as cargo friendly as the collective "we" would like to admit. An Audi Q5 regrettably does have more cargo space than an Audi A4 Allroad. Yet, the TourX has more than both – considerably more in fact, coming in at a certifiably huge 73.5 cubic feet of maximum space. The difference is palpable between it and the 53.5-cubic-foot Allroad, which Buick considers the TourX's closest competitor. As the below video (somewhat) demonstrates, I was able to cram 12 Patagonia duffle bags into the Allroad, filling up most of the cabin. The same amount in the TourX left tons of residual space, you could still see out the back and loading it all in didn't require a degree in Advanced Tetris. There's also a far more useful amount of space with the back seat raised (32.7 vs. 24.2). That area is especially lengthy, and with the large rear quarter windows and reasonably square roofline, it should be a good choice for dog owners. There's no built-in dog net behind the back seat as you'll find in the Allroad and BMW 3 Series wagon (you'd have to go the aftermarket route), but your four-legged buddy should at least appreciate the lower liftover/jump-aboard height. Which brings us to the next wagon benefit: the lower roof height. According to Buick's marketing folks, people who buy off-roadish wagons like the Regal TourX are far more likely to actually live the outdoorsy active lifestyles the owners of SUVs usually only envision for themselves.
2024 Buick Envista First Drive Review: Budget belle
Tue, Jul 11 2023ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Want an affordable small crossover that looks and feels good, might even impress your passengers, and wonÂ’t make your eyes go cross while configuring one online? BuickÂ’s got a new one for you, and itÂ’s pretty slick. The 2024 Buick Envista starts below $25,000, and in a world of rampant inflation, it actually lives up to what you thought that much money could get you a few years ago. You should be pleasantly surprised with what you get — just donÂ’t ask for all-wheel drive or an engine upgrade. To these eyes, the Envista looks good from all angles. While the refresh of the Buick Encore GX for the 2024 model year was the first production vehicle to use design elements inspired by the Buick Wildcat EV concept, the Envista marks the “first complete expression” of that new design language, as Buick design boss Bob Boniface put it. No, itÂ’s not a two-door coupe like the Wildcat, and it still doesnÂ’t have the WildcatÂ’s electric powertrain, but those looks translate even better to a new vehicle designed from the ground up. It has the pointy nose, the high, wing-like headlights and the new tri-shield Buick logo that also made its way onto the Encore. But the Envista has a swept-back profile, with the roofline giving way to a toned-down example of rear shoulders flaring out over the wheels. The nicely tucked rear end is home to lighting that better matches the units up front. ItÂ’s lower and sleeker than the Encore, putting itself more visually at the car end of the crossover spectrum, while the GX leans more toward SUV. And youÂ’ll get a more carlike drive from the Envista, too. ThereÂ’s only one powertrain: a turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder powering the front wheels. ThereÂ’s no AWD option here, and no four-cylinder. Not even a 1.3-liter upgrade like in the Encore GX. There is a traditional automatic transmission with only six forward gears, and no dreaded CVT in sight. ThereÂ’s very little you could do on the order sheet to change the way the Envista drives — pick a version with the upgraded rear suspension that Buick claims provides a more superior ride (a Watts link for those who care) or change up the wheel size, maybe — but certainly not in terms of what drives the wheels. You get 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque in the Envista, figures that are awfully low these days, but that we also found perfectly suited to this mission.
2019 Buick Regal TourX sells better than expected, has brand's wealthiest buyers
Wed, Jun 5 2019Being a wagon fan in America is tough, since it seems everyone prefers the higher ride heights and SUV looks of crossovers. But today we have some good news for wagon fans via Buick. Apparently the 2019 Buick Regal TourX is popular with well-heeled buyers, and it's been selling quite a bit better than Buick expected. A representative from Buick revealed that Regal TourX buyers have the highest average income of any of the brand's products. He even noted that TourX buyers' average income is higher than the Buick Enclave Avenir, the extra-plush variant of the three-row crossover and the most expensive vehicle in Buick's lineup. To put the price difference into perspective, the most expensive Regal TourX starts at $35,995, while the Enclave Avenir starts at $54,695. Besides selling to people of some means, the Regal TourX has proven to be more popular than Buick expected. Buick's representative said that initial estimates were that the wagon would make up about 25% of sales, but it's actually making up about 40% right now. Buick has sold 3,408 Regals in total this year, so that means about 1,400 of them were TourX wagons. That number doesn't quite translate over all of 2018 since the TourX was released a little later and the supply was still ramping up through the year. As such sales were closer to 3,000 out of a little over 14,000 for the whole year, or somewhere above 20%. But the increased percentage from the model's release is still impressive. Granted, sales still favor crossovers. Buick's least popular crossover, the Envision, sold about twice as many units as all Regals last quarter. Yet, we count this as good news on the wagon front. Better still, the TourX's top rival, the Subaru Outback, has moved 76,000 units so far this year. Times may be tough for the wagon fan, but there are still some small wins to celebrate. UPDATE: The estimate of Regal TourX numbers for 2018 was higher than actual sales as the TourX was launched later than all Regal models, and the supply wasn't up to full steam for the whole year. The corrected number is now in the text. Related Video:
