I am the second owner of this vehicle - original owner was a family friend.<><>Vehicle has been parked and not driven since 2000 with current DMV NON-OP.<><>Fresh fuel and fuilds have been maintained and I ran the engine bi-monthly.<><>The engine does/and always has run smooth - no abnormal or unusual noises.<><>With the exception of an occasional dead battery, this vehicle has never failed to start for me.<><>While road operated, oil was changed every 3K.<><> ALL ORIGINAL BODY, ENGINE, INTERIOR, PAINT, GLASS, ETC..<><>Other than oil, plugs, filters, brake pads, etc.... I believe the only parts I replaced (years ago) were the shocks and master cylinder. The engine is a GM350V8 with a 4 barrel carburetor.<><><><><>DISCLOSURE: KNOWN  ISSUES: 1) There are areas (patches) of rust around the back windshield and back side glass. CAUSE: Over the years the vinyl top had ripped allowing water to be trapped at the base of the roof. This vehicle has only and always been in California - there is no lower body rust. 2) The valve cover gaskets are dry and cracked so when the engine runs for 5 to10 minutes, smoke can be seen coming off the exhaust mainfolds. No major leaks from lower end/oil pan area but there are some in the transmission area. Back when I drove it, I did have to add transmission fluid once a month or so to keep the level up and avoid slippage.<><> Engine never burned any noticable amount of oil (i.e.- didn't blow smoke). 3) Paint is completely faded and interior shows wear on driver's seat and driver's floor board, otherwise overall fair to decent condition for it age. 4) Some trim and molding missing or damaged and much of the rubber/grommets are worn and/or torn. 5) For reasons unknown (?) the trunk lock recently stopped working, but the full size spare was out when this occurred. I chose not to force it open in the case that it can be repaired or opened from inside.<><><><><> POSITIVES: "ALL ORIGINAL - NO ACCIDENTS - RUNNING/LOW MILEAGE ENGINE (under 68K)"<><><><><> My goal was to someday restore it, but I no longer have the time, space, money, and/or energy. This car was always very pleasurable to drive. It was solidly built, weighing in at aprx.5700 lbs.. With a fair amount of TLC this vehicle can again be made road worthy.<><><><><>   PAYMENT: Within 2 DAYS of winning bid I require a $500 DEPOSIT to be made through PayPal and the balance to be paid in CASH, IN PERSON, at the time buyer takes possession of the vehicle. Possession of vehicle is to be taken within than 10 DAYS of cleared deposit. BUYER TO ARRANGE FOR TRANSPORT. Extra time may be allotted to facilitate buyer's transport arrangements as long as PAYMENT HAS BEEN MADE IN FULL. I have not tried to mask or hide any of this vehicle's issues, i.e.- primering, sanding, faded paint areas and/or puttying rusted areas, because I felt it best to let the buyer see it as it currently and physically is. Conversely, the white patches/areas above the back side windows are actually some kind of glue or putty the manufacturer used to hold down the vinyl top.<><> I will gladly answer any and all questions, please ask before you bid. I can also supply more detailed and specific area photos at inquirers request.

Thank you.

The importance of Angel Eyes, Ventiports and four round taillights

Sun, 01 Sep 2013

Just the other day, we told you about how Lincoln isn't really a luxury brand, according to Ford's head design man, J Mays. His argument was that Lincoln lacked the unique DNA to differentiate it from the rest of the market, although the arrival of the MKZ is beginning to change that. Now, we have this video from Autoline Detroit, where Jim Hall, an analyst for 2953 Analytics who was quoted in yesterday's Lincoln story, explains the influence of certain styling cues and how they impact the brands.
Using BMW (Angel Eyes) and Buick (Ventiports) as examples for small, simple touches that serve to distinguish the brand's vehicles on the road, Hall then points out how changing trademark styling features, as Chevrolet has done on the new Corvette Stingray, can hurt the vehicle's public perception. Take a look at the full video below for an interesting dive into what these styling features mean to their individual brands.

Black Friday could power record November sales

Thu, Nov 26 2015

Black Friday allows some shoppers to line up in the wee hours for doorbuster deals on laptops and TVs, but the day after Thanksgiving could mean huge profits for automakers this year, too. Multiple industry analysts predict record growth for the industry for November, and the upcoming incentives could help those numbers. TrueCar predicts that Black Friday incentives could provide a major boost, and it estimates a November sales jump of 3.9 percent from last year to a record for the month at over 1.35 million vehicles. As examples of potential deals, Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC plan to offer up to 20 percent off some models, and FCA US has no-interest financing for up to 75 months from its brands. "Consumers are excited about Black Friday promotions and these month-long events appear to be resonating with car buyers." Eric Lyman, TrueCar's vice president of industry insights, said in the report. Black Friday only recently became a big day for auto sales, according to an analysis from Edmunds. Last year, Thanksgiving weekend posted double the sales as any other weekend in the month. The company predicts a sales volume of over 1.33 million vehicles for November. If that happens, it would be the beat the previous record of 1.32 million sales for the same month in 2001. Some forecasts temper the gains for November but only slightly. Kelley Blue Book predicts flat year-over-year sales at 1.3 million vehicles, but that's largely because there are two fewer sales days in 2015 versus in 2014. "Black Friday deals on vehicles have grown in popularity in recent years, and should be a big contributor to this month's sales results," said analyst Tim Fleming in the study. The combined research from J.D. Power and LMC Automotive have the lowest November prediction among this group at just over 1.279 million sales for the month versus 1.299 million in 2014. However, once the researchers adjust the figures for the two fewer selling days, 2015 could actually be seven percent higher than last year. TrueCar Finds New Auto Sales in November to Reach Monthly Record Black Friday promotions bolster sales gains; industrywide incentives up 6% from last year November 24, 2015 12:11 PM Eastern Standard Time SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TrueCar, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRUE) projects total new vehicle sales, including fleet deliveries, will reach 1,352,500 units in November, a 3.9 percent increase from a year ago and the highest ever for the month.

2018 Buick Regal GS : The 310-hp American hot hatch

Wed, Jul 19 2017

Buick has spent the last decade shredding its perception as the low-level luxury vehicle for geriatrics, but the brand hasn't always been associated with that crowd. In fact, ask some enthusiasts and you'll hear about the GM 3800 series engines, IndyCar racing, and the mythical GS and GNX. In that high-octane theme, GM pulled back the curtain on the all-new, all-wheel drive, 310-horsepower 2018 Buick Regal GS Wednesday morning in Milford, MI. The GS is basically a sport-tuned version of the all-new Buick Regal. We've seen the standard and high-riding wagon variants, but this is our first look at what's likely to be the enthusiast pick. The Regal GS uses the five-door sportback bodystyle from the standard car (though a GS version of the TourX would be awesome), swiped from GM's soon-to-be former German division, Opel. While a number of automakers are downsizing engines, Buick is soldiering on with its tried and true naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V6, in this guise making 310 horsepower and 282 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic. The all-wheel drive system uses a twin-clutch setup and has been tuned specifically for the GS. The Regal GS makes more power than both the Acura TLX A-Spec (290 horsepower) and the Lexus IS350 F-Sport (306 horsepower). The V6 features both cylinder deactivation and auto stop/start for better fuel economy. The fully independent suspension uses the second-gen Continuous Damping Control (CDC), capable of 500 adjustments per second. Selectable modes allow the driver to tailor the car to fit the situation. Large Brembo front brakes are surrounded by standard 19-inch wheels and tires. The exterior gets a few styling changes like a sporty front and rear fascias, a small rear spoiler, and plenty of GS badges. Inside, the Regal GS gets unique sport seats with integrated headrests and adjustable lumbar and thigh bolsters. They even come standard with heating, ventilation, and massaging functions. The driver faces a GS badged flat-bottom steering wheel and GS-specific pedals. A full-color heads-up display is optional. Available safety features include front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warnings, forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. The real key for the success of the Regal GS could be pricing.
