1960 Buick Turbo Rat Rod Custom Made One Of A Kind!!! on 2040-cars
Cheshire, Connecticut, United States
This is a one of a kind project and rare as it is i have to let it go im looking for a certain car so trades can be entertained im going to try my best to describe the 4 year work thats been done to this car in full detail this is a turnkey driver so make no mistake thinking your buying a 10 year project so lets start with the good then we can go to the bad!!! It has a fully built 1987 Buick grandnational engine with only 22k on it before i wrecked the car in a street race!!! The engine was rebuilt by Eastcoast machine shop and it pushed 612 on the dyno with the old turbo thats in the picture but all that is gone i wanted to go back to stock bcuz the hood would close so i sold the injectors, turbo, front mount intercooler and the accufab throttle body and fuel rails i just about took everything that made it a monster and sold it all!! the engine still has the crane custom grind camshaft and the custom chain bcuz at that time it was hard as hell to find good buick shit so i spent money like hell!!!.the heads have a mild port i did myself for more flow wich made them very efficient and squeezed a shit load of CFMs out of them...people this motor is capable of way over 800hp but i never took it to that level bcuz buick shit is very costly!! the TA racing intake was removed and i installed a stock one with stock injectors and a BRAND NEW!!! stock turbo was also installed i wanted an everyday car so i can rely on..the cam is big but not too big for the street if you wanna here it run go on UTUBE and type 1960 buick lesabre turbo and you will here how ratical it is... the tranny has only 11k n it bcuz i fried it once so a local tranny shop name Dynamic did that for me and a good converter was installed so all that is just about bullet proof!! the mounts are custom made bcuz of the 60s struckture was soo diferent i had to basically build around it so it would look stock...hell that alone took 3 days to perfect!! it has the factory headers along with the factory intercooler and fans and injectors running on a factory tune but it still has the MSD 3 bar map sensor in it radiator is also factory the harness from the wrecked 1987 grandnational was completely removed and installed into this car so even the cruise control works!! I installed the Hydroboost brake system bcuz it was part of the harness and under high boost it helps this 8 thousand pound car stop very well!! I took a 1984 buick Le Sabre and used its fuel tank and straps using the grandnational sending unit with a brand new Aeromotive Stealth 320 fuel pump and it all went together very well!! I custom made a 3 Inch exhaust system from front to back tucked and clean so it doesnt hit the ground and this car sits about 3 inches from the ground and let me tell you nothing hits!! it has 30 series flowmasters so its tamed!! All the piping and i mean ALL!!! brakes,,,fuel,,,return are all made of stainless steel so u never have to worry about any of that!!! No one had a disk brake set up so i took 2 1964 spindles and machined them to the uppers and lowers so now i have disk brakes in front!! the frame on this car is incredibly solid with absolutly zero surface rust nevermind rust i couldnt believe it myself thank God for that one!! everything in the brake category its all new nothing has been reused in any sense.. the 1987 Grandnational rear was also custom fitted with redesigned lower trailing arms and custom made uppers were also made for the car as well as a pan hard bar to keep it steady and i also installed the original stablizer bar !!! i kept the alluminum drums in the rear i didnt think it needed disk but if it doesnt sell then i might go that route who knows!! the rear tail lights were a task bcuz back in the 60s there werent too many cars with reverse lights so my insanity took over me and not only ut a reverse light in there but if you look close i put all 5 bulbs in that circle making the regal lights all work!!! daamn im good!! as you can see i wired the 87 harness into the 60s dash so everything works!!! high beams signals oil even the cold light works until the car warms up letting you know its time to haul ass!! the check engine light and warning lights were also custom made into the dash!! the dash was i have to say the hardest bcuz i had to put the VSS into the 60s dash so the car would shift properly and as u can see i custom made a slot right in the middle for the factory digital tach and boost sensor!! i used the tilt column bcuz of the harness but also bcuz of that big ass steering wheel that was in the car was too daamn big so i trashed it and wipers signal high beam....all that shit works!! fans turn on only when the car needs them to so like i said its really a 1987 grandnational trapped in a 60 LeSabre!! Now lets do the bad!!! the I put an aftermarket shifter bcuz the original one got messed up in the accident but its all good... the original magic mirror dash still works so dont worry about that heres the part your going to laugh about....i wrapped this car with 4 2005 BMW 19 inch wheels out of a 850 series and they were expensive but it was the only thing i can get at the time but they look good as hell on this car!!! thr fronts are 19 by 9 1/2 and the rears are 19 by 13 so they are beefy in the back!! the whole bottom of the car i painted and undercoated so no need for any kind of undercarage work period!!! now the bad!!! i already installed one of the rockers and if you know anything about these cars the rocker panels are 3 of them...inner ...center...and outer...i can install it for you but i have to charge of course but it can be done!! the 2 foot sections of the front floor pans as u can see in pics need to be replaced...i did find them and i have them but like i noted if you want them installed you have to pay but i do have them both and they go with the car!! the interior needs to be redone completely including door panels but i do have all the original seats and covers.. it needs a carpet right rear bumper needs replacing bcuz of rust look at pictures it needs new front shocks and a alighment heater and climate control needs to be installed as well the radio also PLEASE READ THIS INFO!!! in the wonderful state of CT our DMV does NOT!! issue titles for cars this old but they do give us Q1 notorized by them wich is pretty daamn close to one if u ask me.... ALSO A NON REIMBURSED deposit of 500.00 is due 24 hours after auction ends and please dont waste my time remember ebay charges us to put these cars in here and they charge us to sell them so if you dont pay we still have to!! lets make this a smooth transaction bcuz your going to love the car!! all sales are final so if you cant buy it bcuz you found a T-Bird for half the price its really not my issue to deal with!!!...i will entertain some trades as long as its not your dads motor home lol my number if you have any questions is 475-201-2551 ok??? hey thanx for looking you guys rock!! good luck and happy biddings!!! |

2018 Buick Enclave: How engineers made it larger, lighter, more sophisticated
Wed, Apr 12 2017Buick used the unveiling of the 2018 Enclave at the New York Auto Show to introduce its new range-topping Avenir sub-brand to the world. With fancier interior finishes and exterior details, it's Buick's latest effort to make itself a proper luxury brand (or perhaps re-establish itself as such). However, lost in the Avenir song and dance is the fact that the 2018 Buick Enclave is a (very) long-awaited all-new model regardless of the trim level one selects. Like the Chevrolet Traverse upon which it is based, the new Enclave is bigger than the vehicle it replaces but considerably lighter, by about 400 pounds. "We told every engineer, 'get your job done, but then take the weight out,'" said engineer Rick Spina as we hovered next to his larger yet lighter creation. His team therefore set about taking a little bit of weight out from just about everywhere, from using additional aluminum in the suspension to varying the thickness of the frame (thicker in places that needed to be stronger, thinner and therefore lighter in places that didn't). Only about 100 pounds came out of the body with the rest coming from elsewhere. Not only will the reduced weight improve fuel economy (Buick-estimated at 19 mpg combined with FWD versus 18 for the 2017 model) and presumably the old Enclave's rather ponderous handling, but it should only make things easier for the new powertrain: General Motors' now-familiar 3.6-liter V6 and its latest nine-speed automatic. With 302 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, Buick says the new engine will need 7.2 seconds to reach 60 mph with FWD or 7.5 seconds with AWD. That's a second quicker than before. Besides acceleration, towing is also bumped up by 500 pounds to 5,000. For those models with all-wheel drive, the Enclave has the same basic system featured on range-topping versions of the Buick LaCrosse. Besides power being sent front and rear, it can also differ from right to left in the back, although Spina is quick to point out that capability is for traction-enhancing purposes rather than sporty, handling-enhancing torque-vectoring ones. Buick owners already appreciated the Enclave for its quietness so the engineers decided to take it that much further. This included altering the exhaust, improving body sealing (there are triple door seals), including active sound deadening and utilizing advanced materials that absorb sound as opposed to simply being thick, dense and heavy enough to keep it out.
GM cutting vehicle trim options to save money for electrification
Sun, Mar 1 2020Information continues to filter out about GM's plans based on comments the automaker made during its Capital Markets Day event in February. GM President Mark Reuss said the company's push to save money by rationalizing the number of build combinations will continue in 2020, carrying on the work done in 2019. As GM Authority covers, last year, the carmaker cut 3,500 components across model lines, a 12% drop in the number of parts it needed to stock in its plants. Reuss used the next-generation Chevolet Equinox and GMC Terrain as examples for more cost efficiencies, saying build possibilities — which include international markets and their options — will be cut by more than 50%, and use more shared parts. "We will reduce total trim levels on Equinox and Terrain from eight to six," Reuss said, "reduce engine variants from 11 to 5, reduce build combinations from more than 200 to less than 100 per program, and see significant cost savings of an already paid-for architecture that took the mass out, helping us self-fund electrification programs." GM will plow a large amount of the money it saves into its ambitious EV program. In 2017, the automaker said it intends to have 20 electric vehicles on the market by the end of 2023, some of which could be shared between brands. An automotive analyst at Seeking Alpha and a piece in Automobile attempted to put specifics to what we should expect. As Automobile points out, the first two EVs in the 20-car program are already on sale, being the Ariv Meld and Ariv Merge eBikes available in Belgium and The Netherlands. We've seen the Cruise Origin autonomous rideshare taxi, although we don't know when it will hit the road. The next three, which we should see in the metal shortly, are two Cadillac EVs and the GMC Hummer EV pickup. The Cadillac pair are expected to be sized like the XT4 and XT5, and along with the Hummer, should hit the market starting in late 2021.
2020 Buick LaCrosse images leaked on Chinese website
Fri, Nov 16 2018Buick is planning a refreshed version of its LaCrosse full-size sedan for the Chinese market, judging by these photos discovered by the site Auto Verdict on a Chinese government site used to certify upcoming new models. We can only see exterior cosmetic changes, but they bring the LaCrosse more in line with the styling of the new Regal and Enclave models, leading to speculation that it won't be long until the changes show up in the U.S. The front three-quarters photo shows off a redesigned front fascia, with slimmed-down headlights that are now tied to the grille instead of set apart by body-color surround, thanks to some new chrome treatment. There's also a chrome wing on the grille, similar to what's seen on the 2019 Enclave and new Regal. The lower front fascia is also different, with new L-shaped fog lamps. On the rear, there's a new chrome wing connecting and intersecting the taillights and surrounding the badge. There's no word about any interior changes, but they'd likely be minor in keeping with the exterior updates. Buick most recently debuted a 2019 LaCrosse Sport Touring version, while a mild hybrid model arrived for 2018. China, of course, has become Buick's largest market, but the picture is less rosy stateside amid dimming prospects for sedans, as consumers flock to crossovers and SUVs. In the third quarter, U.S. sales of the LaCrosse fell 31.1 percent from the prior-year period. Between January and the end of September, GM had sold 13,409, which was a decline of 14.2 percent. Its full-year 2017 sales totaled 20,161, which was down almost 27 percent from 2016. For perspective, Buick sold more than twice that number — 42,035 — as recently as 2015. The current generation launched in 2017. Related Video: Featured Gallery 2020 Buick LaCrosse China Image Credit: Buick Design/Style Buick Luxury Sedan
