About the Seller:  Please note my feedback and understand that I make a living by providing accurate descriptions of the vehicles I list for family, friends and estates.  I am not a dealer but in compliance with eBay’s requirements, I have clear title and the authority from the owner to complete the transaction.  I will gladly provide any additional details you may require to make an informed bidding decision. 3rd party inspections are welcome.  Also note that I include pictures of the underside of the car--where much the money gets spent on used cars--but information that most sellers apparently would rather not share with you. Note that I don't publish a buy it now price as too many of my auctions get ended by new ebayers that don't know how things work.  If you'd like to email me with a proposal I will consider ending the auction early with the 'sell to high bidder' option.  send me your particulars and include a phone number.

Ebay publishes customer reviews for used cars.  Browse the Lesabre reviews.  Mostly 4 out of 5 with many 5’s for these roomy sedans that run for a long time and with fuel economy comparable to the honda’s and toyota’s.

  • This was grandpa’s car.  Most of the miles (98,500 miles from new) have been put on by my nephew commuting to work from Cincinnati to central KY.  The car starts, idles, accelerates, shifts and drives smoothly
  • Well-serviced, garaged everything working as expected--charging system, brakes, lights, signals, horn.
  • Smooth V-6 sedan but capable of near 30 mpg!
  • Matching set of 4 tires recently fitted
  • Tie rod and a stabilizer replaced at recent service, steering is on-center and tight
  • Oil changed, fluid levels checked, brakes inspected
  • CD with cassette
  • Paint shows nice all the way around
  • Minor bumper rash from parking lot encounters (small tear in front plastic bumper)
  • Small nick in driver's side of windshield that has been there for some months, not giving any indication that it wants to turn into a spider crack.
  • There are minor scrapes and nicks consistent with age
  • No check engine lights or other service warnings

Compared to the import econo-box sedans, this thing has an enormous trunk, plenty of leg room for front as well as rear passengers.  The 3800 engine is one of GM’s better efforts.

Note to Bidders:
Feedback less than 10?   Send me an e-mail with your phone number so we can discuss my terms and conditions.

Note to Scammers:  Don’t even think about it!  I do not do bundled shipping.  I don’t care if you are in the merchant marine or your late dad was the late president of Sri Lanka--if you don’t have a PayPal account we aren’t doing business, period.  And furthermore, please practice your English on more gullible sellers.  The boiler rooms you guys call from are so noisy these days I can hear your buddies in the background asking the same stupid scammer questions:  “So why are you selling this ‘item’…”  I welcome legitimate international bidders and have sent vehicles to Europe and the middle east but please contact me before bidding to discuss your shipping plans.

Of course, we all know that any used vehicle may or may not do what you or I expect it to do and as such is sold as-is where-is with no warrantees expressed or implied.

Buick Velite is a not-so-Volt-like plug-in hybrid concept for China

Mon, Nov 7 2016

Is the Buick Velite a Volt by any other name? That's a question worth asking after General Motors said that the Buick Velite concept vehicle will make its global debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show later this month. GM says the car "will provide a template for upcoming models being launched under the Buick Blue new energy vehicle strategy." Whether that means the Velite is a variant of the second-generation of the Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in is open to interpretation. Some automotive publications, including Autoweek, are saying that's the case, but GM China doesn't mention the Volt in its press release, only saying that the car is a "high-performance" plug-in hybrid vehicle. As we know, GM doesn't use the "PHEV" descriptor for the Volt, which makes us thing the Velite's powertrain is more like the Cadillac CT6 PHEV. Either way, the concept was developed by the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC), which is a joint venture between GM and Shanghai-based SAIC. As far as the name, GM has been shopping the Velite moniker around for a while now. The automaker first used Buick Velite for the convertible concept vehicle it showed off at the 2004 New York Auto Show. More recently, GM in 2014 filed to use the name for the US variant of its Opel Cascada four-seat convertible model, which debuted in 2013. As for the second-generation version of the Volt, that model appears to be gaining favor in the US. Domestic sales of the Volt through October have surged 64 percent from a year earlier to more than 18,500 units. The new version boosted its all-electric range by 40 percent to 53 miles while increasing its power output by 20 percent. Buick to add more GS models?

Fri, 29 Nov 2013

Buick may not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of performance automobiles, but fans of the brand know what letters to look for. If you believe the reports, there's a new GNX and Grand National on the way, but in the meantime, Buick may offer more GS models to fill the void.
Currently, the Regal is the only model available as a GS (pictured above), packing the same 259-horsepower turbo four as the Regal Turbo but enhanced with key suspension, brakes and rolling-stock upgrades. As Car and Driver notes, similar upgrades could easily be applied to the Verano and LaCrosse, although maybe not the Encore or Enclave crossovers. Of course, Buick would still have to steer clear of Cadillac's Vsport line, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have a little room to play.

Junkyard Gem: 1956 Buick Special 4-Door Sedan

Sun, Aug 6 2023

Buick was flying high in the middle 1950s, with an all-time sales record of nearly 800,000 cars sold for the 1955 model year alone. Buick stood proud in third place for new-car sales in the United States for 1955 and 1956, behind only Chevrolet and Ford. At this time, both Oldsmobile and Buick built cars on the GM B Platform, with the Buick being the swankier and more prestigious of the two. Here's one of those Buicks, found in a Denver self-service boneyard recently. The list price of this car was $2,416, or about $27,505 in 2023 dollars. Located one step down on the GM Ladder of Success, the 1956 Olds 88 sedan started at $2,226 ($25,342 now). The Oldsmobile had a 324-cubic-inch (5.3-liter) Rocket V8 rated at 230 horsepower, which was serious stuff for 1956. This 322-cubic-inch Buick Nailhead V8 made ten fewer horses for 1956, but it would be bored and stroked out to 364 cubes for 1957 (and was all about land-yacht torque, in any case). A three-on-the-tree manual transmission was standard equipment on the 1956 Buick Special, but this one has the $204 Dynaflow automatic transmission ($2,332 in today's money). The Dynaflow usually gets called a two-speed, but it drove like more of a very inefficient (yet smooth) CVT that had two manually-selected ranges. This car spent too many decades outdoors to have any chance of a restoration. As often happens with cars stored in fields in rural Colorado, someone used this Buick for target practice. The bullet holes look like little VentiPorts. Does the '56 Buick go? Va-va-va-voom!
