This is my baby, my pride and joy that I have finally decided to cut her loose. This is an absolutely beautiful Pro-Touring Buick Grand National (hardtop) that has been meticulously maintained and completely restored. I have pampered this car as long as I have owned her and she only gets driven maybe one a month on a nice weekend (hence the reason for selling). Otherwise it’s safely locked in the shop under a cover. The car has been completely restored and/or refurbished with several tasteful modifications most of which were simply upgrades from the obsolete late 80’s OEM equipment. The car for the most part looks to be fairly stock in appearance to the untrained eye other than the wheels, although as you will read below, fairly extensive upgrades have been made to enhance the looks and performance of this beautiful machine. The car starts easily, runs and drives absolutely fantastic and will scare you under full boost. Everything works as it should including all the lights and delay wipers, tilt and cruise control, stereo and power antenna, ice cold A/C and hot heat, Power seat, all the gauges, horn, power windows, power door locks, etc. etc. The GN has had every nut and bolt touched from front to back and I will do my best to list below:

Engine:

The number matching 3.8L V6 has been bored 30 over, has a forged rotating assembly with Speed Pro pistons, polished and turned crank, billet main caps, cometic head gaskets, 206-206 Comp Cam, adjustable pushrods, ported and polished upper and lower intake, stock GN heads mildly ported and polished by Champion and includes new valves, studs, 91lbs. Comp valve springs, performance rockers as well as all new seals, Fel-Pro gaskets and brass freeze plugs installed. Every wear item has been replaced such as new MAF sensor, knock sensor, crank sensor, TPS sensor, cam sensor, O2 sensor as well as new  water pump, high volume oil pump, timing chain and cover, alternator, drive belt with new tensioner, A/C compressor, all new A/C lines, condenser, evaporator, receiver, dryer, orifice and even new A/C switches. Full fuel system from front to back including all hard lines, Racetronix fuel pump, Hot-Wire kit, Delphi 60lbs injectors and a Kenne Bell billet fuel pressure regulator. The GN has a new Garrett TE-44 .60AR ball bearing turbocharger and a custom burned 93 & 103 octane performance ECM chip. The GN has fully polished stainless steel 2.5 inch ATR “Crossflow” performance exhaust system from the turbocharger back. Ceramic coated factory headers and crossover, new coil pack, new Taylor 8.5mm wires, new adjustable waste gate, solenoid and hoses, new billet vacuum block as well as polyurethane motor and transmission mounts, all new rubber and silicone lines, re-cored OEM radiator, transmission cooler, etc.  The motor was dyno tuned by the experts at KDK Performance in Orlando and she runs like and absolute champ safely producing a conservative 430+hp and only 17psi of boost with PLENTY more available by simply swapping out the computer chip, adding some race fuel and turning up the boost!

Transmission:

Numbers matching fully rebuilt 200R4 including a high performance stage 2 shift kit, heavy duty performance clutches/red altos, 3000rpm lock-up stall converter with brazed fins and Kevlar clutches, hardened stator support, performance Super-Servo, heavy duty Kevlar band, 500 boost valve for higher line pressure, high flow filter, bushings, remanufactured pump assembly, heat treated input shaft and a  GN high-rev governor assembly. Transmission is rated at 600hp and has the following gear ratios: 2.74 first, 1.57 second, 1.00 third, .67 fourth (this is factory Grand National OEM ratios).

Rear-end:

Numbers matching 8.8” GM rear with all new seals, bearings, Moser hardened steel 28 spline axles, Mobile 1 fluid and posi additive and factory 3.42 gear ratio. Drive shaft was also cleaned, balanced, new U-joints installed as well as the installation of a ATR drive shaft safety loop.

Suspension, Brakes and Chassis:

The factory front and rear suspension has also been completely refurbished including removal, cleaning, powder coating and replacing front and rear control arms bushings, as well as replacement of all normal wear items such as the ball joints, tie-rods, pitman arm, performance drop spindles in the front and Eibach 2” drop springs in the rear. The GN features upgraded front and rear tubular sway bars with complete polygraphite body bushings throughout. Rear control arm plates have been installed, new crossed drilled rotors as well as new OEM front calipers, rear drums, rubber lines, master cylinder and brake accumulator as well as a Hurst line-lock system installed. All of the body bushings and pinion snubbers have been replaced as well. New front wheel bearing and seals were also installed at this time.

Body:

The car was virtually rust free and had only minor door dings prior to being completely stripped, cleaned, prepped and squirted with base coat / clear coat in GM black. The front and rear filler panels were replaced, as were the headlight bezels, turn signals, marker lights and taillights with NOS OEM new parts. All of the Grand National weather stripping was replaced, as was all the emblems on the car with NOS OEM originals. A new trunk seal was installed as was a Kirbans 9pc. trunk appearance kit and their rear seat brace kit. The doors were treated with the driver and passenger “rattle elimination kit” and new 5.25” Pioneer door speakers and Kenwood rear deck speakers were installed hooked up to the factory “Concert Sound” stereo system. The dash pad was replaced, New OEM carpet kit installed, new headliner installed, as were new Autometer gauges including boost gauge, oil pressure gauge and water temperature gauge. The car was reassembled, wet sanded and buffed to a mirror finish.

Wheels:

All four of the OEM chrome 15” GN factory wheels were removed and stored and will be included in the sale of the vehicle. Currently installed on the Grand National is an set of BOSS 18 inch staggered wheels (18X10 in the rear & 18X8.5 in the front) with a set of 285/35ZR18’s out back and 255/40ZR18’s on the front. All tires are in great condition with about 80% tread remaining.

Additional details:

The car has been driven and enjoyed approximately 20K miles since its complete rebuild. It’s made several road trips from Florida (where I live) to Kentucky and back as well as been driven extensively all over the state since its completion. It has been featured in several local shows as well as G-Body Forums and always gathers a crowd whenever driven. The Grand National is one of the few vehicles I have ever owned that is loved and respected by all walks of life. I am openly welcomed by the “older” generations at the classic car shows as well as the youth at import cruise-in’s. The car is automatically respected for what it was, what it is and what in continues to be. Its aggressive stance, wicked performance and sinister looks make this car the ultimate machine.

Although always garaged and well maintained, my GN does have some paint chips, light scuffs and minor flaws though out the car simply from being driven and enjoyed. There is nothing major to speak of but there are a few blemishes in the paint, seats, and the floor-mats could use a good cleaning. If you are looking for a absolutely flawless, concourse restored Grand National, then this is probably not your vehicle. However, if you looking for something you can jump into and drive around town or across the country, this is absolutely the car. Please let the photos speak for themselves. What you see is what you are bidding on.

Please note, I am in no way anxious to sell this car, nor am I in any financial hardship and needing to sell her, so please keep your low-ball offers to yourself. I have tens of thousands of dollars invested in this car and I have a binder FULL of receipts to provide proof.  I would just assume keep her than give the car away. Trades may be considered although MUST be of equal value and investment. I am not looking for any boats, bikes or RV’s. If you need to get your wife’s permission to buy this car, then do so BEFORE you place a bid. If you do not have the funds available to pay for the car, please do not bid. If you care to inspect the car, please make sure you do so BEFORE you place a bid. Winning bidder can fly in and drive her home, or I can store for a short amount of time while you arrange your shipping arrangements. I am willing to deliver the car to the port of Jacksonville for all of those out of the country bidders, but there will be an additional expense and any/all required documentation is your responsibility. I have no doubt that I am forgetting something but That all I can think of while sitting here writing the description. If you have any questions, or there is something I forgot to mention please ask or feel free to send me an email directly at: Boosted6@Rocketmail.com  Thanks for looking and good luck if you choose to bid.

Terms:

The Grand National is being sold in “as is and where is” condition. Although I have done my best to accurately describe the car to the best of my ability, it is the buyer’s responsibility to ask question, inspect the vehicle and do any/all research on the car BEFORE the auction ends as the car is being sold with absolutely no warrantees expressed or implied. A non refundable one thousand dollar ($1000.00) deposit will be due within 24 hours of the auctions end, with the remaining balance to be paid in no longer than seven (7) days from auctions end in the form of cash, or direct wire transfer ONLY. If you have a feedback of five (5) or less, you MUST contact me prior to bidding or your bid will be removed and blocked from future bids.  I am happy to assist the winning bidder any way I can with shipping arrangements, but any associated expense is that of the buyers. I can store the car in my garage for a week or two (as long as it’s been paid for in full) but please no longer than a couple of weeks. Lastly, do to my work I have limited time to show the vehicle for inspection so please plan on doing any inspections in the evening and give me a day or two advance notice. Thanks and good luck!

Junkyard Gem: 1972 Buick Centurion Four-Door Hardtop

Sat, Sep 24 2022

During the mid-to-late 1960s, General Motors made flashy, semi-sporty versions of each of its full-sized B-body cars. Oldsobile had the Delta 88 Royale, for example, while Pontiac offered the Grand Prix. The rakish big Buick of that period was the Wildcat, built through the 1970 model year. Just as the Wildcat shoved aside the Invicta, the Centurion appeared in 1971 to replace the Wildcat. Named after a famous 1956 concept car, production of the Centurion continued just through 1973. Just over 100,000 were built, and here's one of those rarities in a Colorado self-service boneyard. The Centurion was available as a hardtop coupe, a convertible, and a four-door hardtop sedan. It was at heart a LeSabre with a different grille and other cosmetic touches. Instead of the usual triple-shield Buick emblems, the Centurion got Roman-soldier badges. Perhaps the world's best-known Centurion is the '72 convertible driven by Kurt Russel's slimy-car-salesman character in the 1980 film, Used Cars. Kurt ends up selling his Centurion to a customer he "baited" from the rival lot across the street. In 1974, the Centurion was replaced by the LeSabre Luxus, a trim-level designation that Buick swiped from Opel. The only engine available in the 1971 and 1972 Centurion was Buick's 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8, renowned for its low-rpm torque. Power numbers for 1972 dropped considerably compared to 1971, mostly due to the switch from gross to net measurements that year; the base '72 Centurion 455 was rated at 225 horsepower and 360 pound-feet, while an optional higher-compression version with dual exhaust made 270 hp and 390 pound-feet. All Centurions came off the assembly line with three-speed automatic transmissions. For 1973, a Buick 350 (5.7-liter) V8 became standard Centurion equipment, with the 455 an extra-cost option. The original buyer of this Centurion probably regretted the single-digit fuel economy of the 455 when OPEC shut off the oil taps in October of 1973. Front Range Colorado isn't particularly rusty, but this car looks like it must have spent some time in a road-salty place like Wisconsin or Iowa. There isn't much left of the padded vinyl roof, standard equipment on all Centurion sedans and coupes. It would have been prohibitively expensive to make this car nice again, so here it sits. This radio played AM and 8-track tapes and cost $363 extra on a $4,508 car (that's $2,615 and $32,485 in inflation-adjusted 2022 dollars).

Next Buick Verano headed to Shanghai Motor Show

Wed, Apr 15 2015

Buick is a big deal in China and ranks third in automotive brand popularity there, according to a recent poll. It should come as little surprise, then, that the company is using the upcoming Shanghai Motor Show to debut the next-gen version of the Verano. We are even getting a shadowy tease of the small sedan's look ahead of the April 19 unveiling. Actually called the Wei Lang in China, Buick says the redesigned Verano takes styling cues from the Riviera concept from 2013 Shanghai show and the recent Avenir, as well. Neither inspiration seems too obvious based on this teaser image, but the small sedan does gain two creases down its side: one arches through the front door handle and the other picks up over the rear fender. Buick isn't even hinting at what powers the Verano in China and simply asserts that the model sets class benchmarks for "performance, safety and comfort" there. Of course, as with many foreign market models, it's possible that the sedan could use different engines or wear different altered styling when it arrives in the US. Buick Verano Sports Sedan Named "Wei Lang" in Chinese, Will Make Debut in Shanghai on April 19 2015-04-14 SHANGHAI – Shanghai GM today announced that the Verano, Buick's new-generation sports sedan, has been given the name of "Wei Lang" in Chinese. It will make its debut in Shanghai on April 19, on the eve of Auto Shanghai 2015. As a new strategic model for the Buick brand, the Verano will offer a refreshing driving experience through its stylish and dynamic exterior, exquisite and comfortable interior, and precise and powerful performance. The Verano was inspired by the 2013 Buick Riviera concept car and captures the design essence of the Buick Avenir concept car, which debuted at this year's North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The Verano demonstrates Buick's insight into the aesthetic preferences of Chinese consumers. It embodies the innovative reimagining of Buick's classic design elements, exemplifying the elegance and dynamism of Buick's new-generation products. It is expected to set new benchmarks for performance, safety and comfort in its class. Like the all-new Excelle GT, which was launched earlier this year, the Verano will serve as a strategic model in Buick's bid for a stronger presence in China's mid-range vehicle segment. General Motors traces its roots back to 1908. GM has 11 joint ventures, two wholly owned foreign enterprises and more than 58,000 employees in China.

GM applies to trademark Buick's Electra name in Canada

Mon, Dec 27 2021

At Auto China 2020 in Beijing, Buick revealed an Electra concept with a design language called Potential Energy created by one of GM's Shanghai-based design studios. A press release about the concept said the "all-electric crossover offers a sneak peek at Buick’s vision for a new intelligent electric future." It's possible that the "intelligent electric future" could include the Electra name, as the Rivian Owners Forum discovered Buick applied to trademark that model name in Canada on December 20. Buick isn't new to the name, having put it on a luxury sedan it produced from 1959 to 1990. What better way to resurrect history with electricity using the name Electra and a design language called Potential Energy? As the Rivian forum also noted, Buick snuck a concept car into General Motors' promotional video for the Ultifi software platform that will connect owners' digital lives across vehicles and locations. For less than two seconds at the end of the vid, a seriously chic fastback sedan speeds through a digital landscape, a Buick tri-shield logo set into what looks like an active rear spoiler. We don't see Buick building this car, but we'd love it if Buick did. What we imagine more likely is a more production-possible evolution of the Electra concept shown in Beijing last year that had Ultium batteries powering two electric motors that shared a combined 583 horsepower among both axles. The sprint to 60 miles per hour was said to take 4.3 seconds, range estimated at about 410 miles. The dihedral doors enclosed a buttonless cockpit with a rectangular, retracting steering wheel, huge curved screen, eConnect software, and an AI-powered assistant for feature control. There was also a skateboard tucked into the rear bumper for last-mile travel to the destination or the half-pipe. We expect Buick to launch at least one crossover in 2024, and another in 2025. One of them will likely compete with the Ford Mustang Mach-E and the production version of the Chrysler Airflow concept. Related video:
