Rare M235i in Gray with Dakota Coral Red leather. Fully loaded. (details below) Always been garaged and hand washed by me. Non smoking, one owner. M235i in Mineral Grey Leather Dakota Coral Red with black highlights 8 speed auto with paddle shifts w/ launch control Mileage: 13613 miles as of 19 June 2015 Cold Weather package (heated seats, heated steering wheel, Headlight washers) Driver assistance Package (All around vehicle sensors and backup camera) Premium package (Universal garage-door opener, comfort access keyless entry, auto-dimming interior and exterior mirrors, auto-dimming rearview mirror, lumbar support (both seats)) Technology package (Navigation w/ touchpad, BMW online & Apps, Real time traffic info, Instrument cluster with extended content (LCD display))Michelin Pilot Super Sport performance tires Extra add-ons: M performance exhaust (original exhaust comes with sale) Harmon/kardon premium sound Extended USB and Bluetooth (with iphone 5 dock) BMW alarm system (500 USD option) Increased top speed Headlights that track the steering wheel position BMW Sport rubber floor mats with red highlights (front and back) Vehicle does not have any holes in front bumper for the license plate but I have the original BMW mounting bracket if the new owner desires to do that Original BMW front floor mats (came with the car) in plastic wrap (never opened). Vehicle history: Vehicle was custom ordered from Germany according to my specifications/packages/options. Order was placed in May 2014, Vehicle entered production in Germany on the 24th week of 2014 (Early June), on the boat by end June and delivered to me end of July 2014 (2 miles on the odometer). Vehicle was not driven by anyone at the dealership other than myself. All paperwork and service history is included in the sale (even original window sticker). I am very meticulous about it and vehicle history can be traced all the way back to the factory. Oil changes done every 5k miles regardless of cost or free BMW oil changes. Warranty: Vehicle still carries all the original BMW warranties. 2 years left on the cost free maintenance from BMW (brake pads, rotors, motor oil, etc). In order of transparency: One month ago, during the heavy rainfall in Texas, I was driving the vehicle in the suburbs of Austin. One truck kicked up so much water that it entered the intake vent, passed through the airbox and eventually made it into cylinder #4, the water bent the rod on that cylinder. In lieu of repairing the engine, no expenses was spared, engine was pulled out, replaced by a new engine flown from Germany. All work was done by BMW Austin and all BMW warranties, etc still stand. Repairs totaled 19600 USD (receipts included of course). Car drives beautifully, both engines (including the new one) broken in as per BMW procedure. Car has 13613 miles with new engine having 2579. New engine oil changed at 2540 (after break in) at BMW of Portland (again receipts included of course). Title of vehicle is clean and the carfax is also the same. I just like being thorough and honest. Reason for selling: I am really attached to this car and it really pains me to sell it but I am moving back to Canada and does not make financial sense to import it. I would love to pass it on to a good home/owner that would really appreciate the car but also have fun with it. Driving sensation: This vehicle is a beast, you could perfectly drive it in a civil manner around the city but on an open or twisting stretch of road, it handles like it is on rails and keeps on accelerating hard all the way to frightening levels. It also stops on a dime thanks to M performance brakes (4 piston on the front, 2 piston at the rear). Other: Only serious buyers. More pictures can be supplied by request. Shipping: I will help with all vehicle shipping coordination. the expense will have to be covered by the buyer.

Watch BMW 3 Series drift in Scotland

Sat, Sep 5 2015

Drifting is inherently connected with Japan largely because the sport originally hails from there. That's why many of the traditionally popular drifting machines are from Toyota, Nissan, and Mazda. However, as long as the rear wheels can spin, you can slide it, no matter where a vehicle is from. For a new video, Xcar discovers a grassroots contingent in Scotland that specializes in smoking the tires of the BMW 3 Series. These guys aren't running the hugely expensive machines that you see in top events, but they definitely don't lack for passion to get a car sideways. One guy in the video runs an absolutely insane-looking Nissan-powered E36 3 Series convertible. Another competes in an E30 station wagon with a Toyota engine. Watching these unconventional drifters out on the track is a cool experience. Clearly, these folks are using what's around them to fulfill their need for speed, and they look like they're having a ton of fun doing it. Mercedes says it's tops in luxury sales for 2012, not BMW

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

It turns out that Mercedes-Benz North America has legitimate claim to being the top selling luxury nameplate in the US in 2012.
While sources such as Autodata had put BMW in the top spot, registration data from R.L. Polk shows that Mercedes customers registering new vehicles topped the Bavarian automaker in the most recent calendar year. Polk says Benz posted 274,123 registrations, compared with BMW's 268,498.
In terms of sales posted, BMW had bested Benz 281,460 to 274,134. But sales are recorded somewhat inconsistently from automaker to automaker. Some book the sales as soon as they are shipped from factory to dealer. There is perennial gamesmanship between the two German rivals, and the sales numbers suggest that BMW pushed out some extra sheetmetal to dealers in the last four weeks of the year.

What's up with this thought-controlled BMW i3?

Tue, Jul 28 2015

Autonomous driving? A car being controlled by just verbal commands? One pilot program is going way beyond that this year with a car that can theoretically be mind-controlled. UK-based insurance-services company MoneySuperMarket is promoting something called "Epic Mind Drive." The project involves a BMW i3 electric vehicle (nice and futuristic) being rigged up with an autonomous driving system. Only instead of the system watching the road, it involves a person sitting in a seat outside of the car with an electroencephalography (EEG) neuro headset connected to the vehicle. In fact, that headset records brain activity and translates it into instructions. Those instructions are converted to radio frequency that's sent to the car to instruct it to perform various speed and turning duties. Apparently, yes, the car will be mind-controlled. Somehow. If this were intended for real-world use, it would go far beyond the autonomous-driving programs that have been in the works for the past couple of years. Nissan has been real active in that area, with chief Carlos Ghosn saying earlier this year that a "hands-free" car for heavy stop-and-go traffic may be available within the next couple of years. And last year, Google unveiled its autonomous car prototype (though it wasn't nearly as cool-looking as the Bimmer i3) while Tesla Motors has been making noise in that area as well. Besides the i3, MoneySuperMarket has developed the Epic Mind Drive mobile game that uses face-tracking technology to control a car on the screen. The idea with these two whiz-bang ideas is to get drivers to realize that they should think as they drive, it seems. As for the telepathic i3, we're as interested in details as the next website, so we checked out the two videos that are supposed to hype the project. While there is some groovy jazzy-electro music involved, the details of how this works are pretty much nonexistent (16 sensors, think to turn the wheel, and that's about it), so we look forward to hearing more about the project once it's underway. You can check out the videos above and below. News Source: Daily Mail, MoneySuperMarket Green BMW mind control
