BMW i1 EV rumored, based on electric Mini

With just two BMW i cars currently available — and aging — we've been hankering to know what new EVs are coming down the pipeline for the Bavarian automaker. We've had news of the iNext and i4, caught wind of an iX3, and as BMW is in the early stages of a large electrification push, there has been a multitude of "i"-prefaced trademarks registered. The next we can expect, if the rumors from Spanish outlet Motor.es are to be believed, will be a diminutive i1 EV, based on the same platform as an upcoming electric Mini Cooper. As such, it would share the electric Mini's front-drive/front-motor configuration — previewed on the Mini Electric Concept, shown above, that debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year. It stands to reason that the i1 would be smaller than the high-roofed i3, possibly borrowing the five-door hatchback format from the 1 Series sold in Europe (which would be a long-awaited dream come true if it made its way to the United States). The electric car would be about a foot shorter than the 1 series, though, according to the report, at about 158 inches long. It would be built on an electric version of BMW modular UKL platform. Keep in mind, the BMW i1 is just a rumor at this point, with Motor.es keeping its sources unnamed. If true, though, it could replace the i3 in BMW's lineup five years from now, in 2023. 2018 BMW 3 Series spied looking cold as ice

The 3 Series is without question the single most important model line for BMW. So, despite the fact that it was just refreshed for 2016 with updates that sharpened its steering and suspension, you can bet that work is well underway on the next edition. These fresh spy shots show just how far into the development process BMW has gotten as engineers test the model in the harsh conditions of the arctic. Camouflage hides on lot on this 3 Series, but we can still see that the nose appears to take cues from the latest 7 Series. Even through the swirling wrap, you can spot shapely headlights that flow into the long, narrow kidney grille. In profile, the sedan retains the proportions of the current model, with a longish hood and short rear deck. Around back, big, round taillights protrude outward, but these somewhat garish pieces might be development parts that don't reflect the final design. BMW reportedly uses the codename G20 for the next-gen 3 Series and plans to make the new model wider and with a longer wheelbase to create a larger passenger compartment. Even with the dimension stretch, weight could drop thanks to lighter materials. We expect that BMW will continue to offer a vast range of powertrains, and rumors hint the future M3 might use a plug-in hybrid system to boost power and lower emissions. Watch a trio of Santas ride up Mulholland Drive

Santa Claus might have his eight reindeer - or nine, when it's foggy - to help him deliver presents in most parts of the world, but in southern California, it looks like he's traded up from Dasher, Dancer, Prancer and company to BMW, Yamaha and Ducati. RNickeyMouse is usually the place to check out spectacular motorcycle crashes on video along LA's Mulholland Drive, but a recent video caught a trio of Santas carving up the iconic, twisty road.
The three Santas are together, riding what appears to be a BMW S1000RR, Yamaha R1 and a hard-to-tell custom bike that could be a Ducati 1098. The video, which is posted below, also catches a bonus Santa riding solo on another S1000RR. Happy Christmas to all, and to all a cool bike!
