1988 Bmw M6-only 77120 Miles-beautiful Inside & Out-perfect Carfax Report-great on 2040-cars
El Paso, Texas, United States
This is what I call a totally HONEST CAR. It has not been repainted. It has not been detailed. What you see is what you get. And what you are getting is a totally RUST FREE 1988 BMW M6 that spent its entire life in DRY DRY EL PASO, TX. El Paso is similar in climate to Tuscon or Phoenix, AZ. This is dry southwestern desert country. There are no dents on the car, just a couple of scratches and rock chips, much less than what you would expect to see on a normal 26 year old car. It was owned by 2 prominent El Paso surgeons and was bought new in El Paso, TX. It was treated with love and was well taken care of. Folks, I doubt you will ever find a cleaner untouched example of this fine automobile. You can spend more money on a car with higher miles that has been redone and you have no real idea as to what is under all the new paint and bodywork. If I was looking to buy an M6, I would way prefer to buy an untouched car like this in beautiful shape like it is with such low miles over a way higher mileage example that has been all dolled up and you have no idea what kind of car you started with. Think about it. This is a very low production car...virtually exclusive. Only 5855 were made from 1983-1989 with only 1767 being sold in the United States. So this car will only become rare and more valuable with time and more in demand. I think BMW calls this color Royal Blue Metallic. I personally call it "Midnight Blue Illusion". I call it "Illusion" because depending on the light, it tends to look Purplish. Back in 1988 it was one of the 10 fastest production cars you could buy. Even by today's standards, it is still a very fast car. But comfortable and luxurious in the process. The paint and interior are in excellent condition for the year. The car is totally loaded with dual air conditioning for both the front and rear of the cabin. The air conditioning comes out freezing cold and even in 100 degree El Paso weather the engine runs amazingly cool even with the air conditioning running. The heat works great too although in El Paso it is usually not needed...lol. It has electric windows and door locks, and power seats as well. It has a great Pioneer Premier Radio and the same brand CD player in the trunk. And the car is so quiet while driving it you can almost hear yourself whisper. The car has never been in an accident, even a minor one. It has the first totally clean CarFax report that I have ever seen. Again, it has to be one of the cleanest 1988 BMW M6's you will ever see. Miles on the odometer at the time of this posting are a super low 77107. And these engines are famous for easily exceeding 250,000 miles and still be running strong. The interior is in amazing condition for the year. It is not flawless. There is a small tear in the passenger inside door panel, almost looks like it came from a fingernail. There is some discoloration on the driver side arm rest and door panel. The dashboard has a couple of cracks. But for the year it's amazing and if one wants, you can easily repair these few inperfections to make the car virtually perfect. The engine compartment has never been detailed but looks really good for the year. The engine is incredibly strong and quiet. And there are no leaks anywhere under the car. Don't miss out on this sexy automobile. This is a collectible car that will most certainly increase in value each year and become more in demand than it already is. The sky is the limit. Tires are new Continental Extremes and the tires and wheels look great on the car. Bidders, please pay attention. I just had my last sale ruined by a "0" ranked eBayer. This means a new eBayer that has no previous experience. If you have 5 or less transactions on eBay, you need to call me first prior to bidding or your bid(s) WILL BE REMOVED WITHOUT NOTICE. NO FOREIGN BUYERS, HOWEVER I WILL WORK WITH BUYERS FROM MEXICO AND CANADA. I CAN BE REACHED AT 915-276-1505 I will not ship but will cooperate with the shipper of your choice for pickup at my house. Or you can fly in and I'll pick you up at the El Paso International Airport and you can drive it home. And it will be a great drive. If you plan on using any sort of check, it will need enough time to properly clear my bank before the car and title will be released. Money can be deposited directly into my Wells Fargo account. Of course cash is always accepted. |

BMW Z8, Lambo LM002 sell for $192,500 apiece in Detroit [w/poll]
Wed, Jul 29 2015Think a car are a bad investment? That all depends on what kind of car you're talking about. Because while most cars depreciate in value as soon as you drive them off the lot, others can do even better than hold their value. The cars that appreciate tend to be pretty high-end exotics, but they don't have to be multi-million-dollar classics to command a premium at auction. Just look at the results from RM Sotheby's Motor City sale in Detroit this past weekend. The auction house moved a solid $7.4 million worth of metal, which is pretty impressive when you consider that – unlike events at Lake Como or Pebble Beach – not one of the lots dipped into seven figures. 1930s-era American classics performed the strongest, with Duesenbergs, Packards, Auburns and the like all fetching hundreds of thousands. But what intrigued us most were the European exotics that rounded the top ten results. Amidst the Depression-era American steel were a BMW Z8 from 2001 and a 1988 Lamborghini LM002, each of which sold for an equal $192,500. Hardly the highest figures paid for European exotics this year, but considering how much they were worth just a few years ago, they've proven solid investments. BMW only made 5,703 examples of the Henrik Fisker-designed retro Z8, of which only 2,543 were brought to the United States, where they originally sold for $128,000. The most anyone had ever paid for one at auction, according to Sports Car Market, was $184,082, just this past March at Silverstone. That makes the price achieved this weekend a new record for one of the slinkiest vehicles the Bavarian automaker has ever made, representing an impressive 50-percent increase in value over the course of fourteen years. This particular example – chassis WBAEJ13481AH60437 for those keeping track – is decked out in silver over black, with less than 15,500 miles on the odometer. This Rambo Lambo was produced early in the 301-unit production run, with the sought-after carbureted engine and 32,000 miles on the clock. It didn't set any records at the same price, other examples of the LM002 having traded over the past few years for over $200k. But considering that Sant'Agata originally charged around $120-130k for the SUV when it was new, its selling price still represents about 50-percent appreciation (leaving inflation aside).
Old vs. new debate gets new life with $25,000 Fiesta ST vs. E46 M3 showdown
Fri, 10 Jan 2014You know who you are. There's probably a few of you reading; the ones that say, "Why would I spend $27,000 on a new Mazda MX-5 when I could get a used Chevrolet Corvette with more power." Yes, we're talking to you, used car proponents. While it is a fair argument, it's not like used cars don't come with drawbacks of their own, though.
In an attempt to put this new-versus-used argument to bed once and for all, Matt Farah of the The Smoking Tire has picked up a pair of $25,000 cars - a used, but lightly modified, 2003 BMW M3 and a 2013 Ford Fiesta ST. Naturally, there's a comparison.
Farah, as he's wont to do, does get into the nitty gritty of what each car is like to drive, and discusses the merits of used and new-car shopping. But as he rightly points out while testing the M3, "So, it is a good car. But like any used car, it really does depend on the individual car."
BMW electrifies the 2 Series Active Tourer with a plug-in prototype
Thu, Jul 2 2015BMW is developing a hybrid version of its 2 Series Active Tourer. At the company's Innovation Days 2015, we're finally getting to see the fruits of that electric labor with a prototype for a plug-in hybrid version of the front-wheel-drive hatchback. The Bavarians aren't keeping a secret that they intend to build a model like this in the future. But like the rest of the Active Tourer family, it's likely to remain unavailable to US buyers. BMW is already somewhat familiar with the realm of plug-ins with its i sub-brand and forthcoming X5 xDrive40e PHEV. This 2 Series Active Tourer is largely an adaptation of some of that tech. Up front, there's the company's transversely mounted, 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder gasoline engine making 134 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, and it's linked to a six-speed automatic gearbox. A generator on the front axle can also briefly boost output by 20 hp and 111 lb-ft, or help charge the rear-mounted battery. At the back is an electric motor making 87 hp and 122 lb-ft with a two-speed transmission spinning the rear axle. All of this is linked together via the Dynamic Stability Control to shuffle around power as necessary. The hybrid system generally prioritizes using electric power at speeds below 50 miles per hour and kicks on the engine from there. Depending on the settings, drivers can also force it into EV mode with a maximum range predicted at nearly 24 miles. BMW claims the 2 Series Active Tourer PHEV could get to 62 mph in a brisk 6.4 seconds, and the company estimates the setup can return the equivalent of 118 miles per gallon on the European cycle. While there's a lot of equipment to package together in this system, BMW claims that interior room is identical to the purely internal combustion version. The hybrid battery is under the rear seat, and propulsion for the back wheels is centered around the axle. As a prototype, the automaker isn't really talking pricing yet beyond stating buyers "do not have to pay a high premium for the technology." 2. BMW eDrive in the pipeline for further BMW models: The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer plug-in hybrid prototype. The advent of plug-in hybrid variants in various model series from the BMW brand is making all-electric driving with zero local emissions in a premium car a possibility for an ever-increasing number of target groups.
