1988 Bmw M6 E24 - 635csi L6 Chassis - M5 Motor on 2040-cars
Lafayette, California, United States
1988 BMW m6 with 128k original miles. I am the third owner. Previous 2 guys were BMW enthusiasts as well. Superb condition mechanically and cosmetically. Looks and runs amazing! Always in the garage with a soft cover. All new tires, fresh gaskets/filters/oil, new bushings throughout, all new hoses and belts under the hood, front and rear AC both blow ice cold, new hood struts, new battery. Valve adjustment done recently as well as the timing chain guides. Records on hand to back everything up.
I just had the BBS RS 17" wheels taken apart, re-sealed, trued, polished, and put back together. They now are balanced without weights!!! Superb condition. These are super rare, very light and ultra desirable wheels. New Bilstein coil overs in the rear. New catalytic converter (passes CA smog every time!). This is a NO RUST California car. There are no flaws to speak of except a tiny 1" long crack on the dash board right by the windshield. Downsizing my collection. Selling several of my cars (GMC Typhoon, 66 HotRod Bug, 65 MG (SOLD), 68 FJ40 Hot Rod, 67 Firebird (SOLD), 71 Blazer HotRod. Clear titles in my name. Tags are all current. Clean title, no accidents, all original car. Never been smoked in, never been left outside overnight, never abused. Located in Concord area. 25 miles east of San Francisco. 9 2 5 - 5 1 8 - 9 6 5 1 It seems like everyone wants to know what my "bottom dollar" is... This is not your run of the mill Honda Civic. Its a very rare car, for somebody who will continue taking great care of it and knows its true value. I am asking a fair price for this car and will consider discounting it slightly. Keep in mind I have spent close to $4k in maintenance during the last 2 years. That means the next owner will hot have to fix any oil leaks, tires, brakes, bushings, etc... I would be interested in trading up or down for a e39 & e60 M5 or e92 M3. Please send me the specifics of what you have and some pictures. Not looking for a high mileage beater, rather a really nice M-car for every day driving. M6 has been driven sparingly, but I would not use it as an every day driver (its far too nice to be exposed to the elements). Similar to 635 csi l7 l6 535i |

Weekly Recap: BMW rolls out ambitious plug-in hybrid electric plan
Sat, Dec 6 2014"We believe that for the United States, this is going to be very important." – Julian Arguelles Let there be no doubt, BMW is serious about electric vehicles. The German automaker said this week it will make plug-in hybrid versions of all of its core models, an aggressive move that demonstrates its commitment to electric propulsion systems. BMW did not specify which vehicles will get the plug-in systems or provide a timeline for when they will arrive. But the announcement is clearly more than blustering, and the company revealed a 3 Series plug-in prototype this week at an event in France. BMW said the 3 Series uses a version of its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine (240 horsepower, 300 pound feet of torque) with an electric motor sandwiched between the engine and transmission in place of the torque converter. It has an all-electric range of 22 miles. A plug-in X5 with the same powertrain was also displayed alongside the 3 Series, though the X5 has been on the auto-show circuit for more than a year, including a recent stop in Los Angeles. Those two vehicles use "eDrive," and BMW's plans represent the first widespread transfer of its technology from development of the i3 and i8 models to more mainstream products. BMW said it's developing electric powertrains so they can be deployed rapidly across its range, and they are flexible enough to be used with fuel cells in future products. Enticingly, BMW is also working on a "Power eDrive" system, which debuted in a 5 Series GT concept at the event in France. This setup has two electric motors powered by a 20-kilowatt-hour battery pack, and when teamed with a four-cylinder turbo, pump out about 670 hp. Reinforcing BMW's commitment, the company will add more than 200 jobs at its factory in Dingolfing, Germany, to support electric-vehicle development. The moves come as BMW and other automakers diversify their portfolios while fuel economy and emissions regulations are getting tighter around the world. The United States has set a 54.5-mpg CAFE requirement for the 2025 model year. BMW said the electric vehicles were developed with an eye toward the US market, its government policies and its wide-ranging commuting styles. "We believe that for the United States, this is going to be very important," spokesman Julian Arguelles said. Ben Scott, a senior analyst in London with automotive research firm IHS, said BMW's moves are expensive – but necessary – to keep pace with the market.

Frankfurt Motor Show Notes: Why Jaguar decided to build an SUV
Wed, Sep 16 2015It was inevitable. Jaguar had to make an SUV, and that notion became reality this week with the debut of the F-Pace, an all-wheel-drive five-seater that will launch in the United States next spring. Some purists may cringe. But in an era when Porsche, Bentley, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, and other traditional luxury brands are all building or (planning to build) SUVs, Jaguar had to evolve. While it seems like a leap for Jaguar to make an SUV, longtime design director Ian Callum said it's been in the works for years. "The first time I was asked the question was when I arrived 16 years ago," he said. So in 1999 (and probably well before that), Jaguar was already thinking SUV. What took so long? "It wasn't a priority," Callum said. Jaguar was concentrating on fixing its existing lineup, which was pockmarked with holes and poorly selling products, like the X-Type. Along the way, Jaguar and sister brand Land Rover were sold by Ford to Indian conglomerate Tata Motors. Flash forward several years, and Jaguar and Land Rover are both experiencing a resurgence in the United States and around the world. Jaguar's lineup is flush with the E-Type's modern successor, the F-Type, plus a new version of the XF. The XJ received a 2016 freshening, and the smaller XE sedan is on the way. Jaguar put its house in order as other factors conspired to make a crossover timely. Fuel prices stayed relatively low, and consumers in the US and China remained steadfast in their love for utility vehicles of all stripes. Making a Jaguar SUV became a priority. "The world was telling us in no uncertain terms this is what they wanted," Callum said. "Not to be in the sector would be a little naive for the sake of purity." Jaguar proved its intent two years ago when it revealed the C-X17 crossover concept at Frankfurt, and the final production model is close to the prototype's striking looks. "I thought we managed to maintain that spirit," Callum said. It's a true Jaguar, with cues from the F-Type, 1968 XJ, and other famous models. Who would have thought Jaguar would make an SUV? "I certainly didn't," Callum admitted. But the F-Pace is here. If Callum is okay with it, purists can be, too. Quick Hits Opel retrenches for 2016 and beyond Opel used the Frankfurt show to display its new generation of the Astra, a critical vehicle line for the German division of General Motors.
