1988 BMW M6 odometer: 93650 VIN: WBAEE1419J2560862

LET'S GO HERE! Don't keep looking at the ad, it will be gone once just 2 persons realize the amount of car offered here for this LOW opening bid. Please note that this is now less than what you would expect to pay for the S38B35 engine and trans alone. It's as if the rest of the car is just included, so please consider what you will actually be getting. Also, realize that none of the other ones for sale will have had this much service and won't drive as well. Don't be snookered, all of the e24's need a ton of work by now in their life, low mileage or not. Why not just get the one with the expensive work done, and finish the far less expensive drivers seat yourself in spare time?

Available is my 1988 BMW M6 coupe. Briefly, it has had over 10 thousand dollars put into the engine, mechanical, suspension, steering, brakes, sensors, heating system, body, etc to make it the superb driver it is today. I have all of the receipts, the title is clean and it hasn't had any of the body panels replaced. This is a really good opportunity to get a car which is increasing in value and is also a blast to drive, which you can do worry free. The car can be seen here in NYC, but it is not from the city, so it hasn't been battered, backed in to, or driven on terrible roads in stop and go fashion.

This is an insanely good opportunity to get in a the best year of the M6. Look at the pictures carefully, they are very truthful about the cosmetics. The paint is 5.5-6/10, and the driver's seat is fully functional, but needs the be beautified.
None of these lesser problems should dissuade you from buying it. Again, mechanically completely sound

*NOTE* I discovered that the heater blower was rattling, so I took the cover off and found it done for, so I have replaced it with an OEM Bosch motor and new resistor for the infinite fan control inside. All associated parts and housings have been cleaned. Were this done by good import repair house here in NY, it would cost over $1,000.00, so this is value added to the car. It was the original system, so it was time for this service.
Also note that I once worked for BMW, and yes this is the level of service it has been getting under my ownership. See over 40 photos using the link below.

Give yourself or loved one a heck of a holiday gift!

Formula E gets wireless-charging BMW i8 safety car [w/video]

Tue, 26 Aug 2014

Racing series typically select a safety car appropriate to the kinds of racecars for which they'll be setting the pace. So you might find a Mercedes SLS pacing a Formula One grand prix, for example, and you're more likely to find a BMW M4 on duty at a DTM race and a Chevy Camaro or SS on an oval speedway for a NASCAR or Indy race. It would only stand to reason, then, that the FIA Formula E Championship kicking off next month in Beijing would press a plug-in into service as its safety car. But the organizers didn't go for your run-of-the-mill Nissan Leaf or Toyota Prius.
No, the safety car for Formula E will be a BMW i8 specially modified for the occasion. As you can see from the video below, the hybrid sports car packs a full roll cage, racing buckets with harnesses, special communications systems and on-board fire extinguishers. But that's not all.
In partnership with technological partner Qualcomm, the Formula E support fleet - including two examples each of the i8 and i3 - will feature inductive charging. So while one is out on the track, or at least sitting at the end of the pit lane waiting to be deployed - the other will be charging wirelessly. The vehicles are still pending FIA approval, and only one has been outfitted with the Qualcomm Halo wireless charging system (with the others to be retrofitted later), but they were all on hand for the recent practice race at Donnington Park.

BMW heads for the waves with Path 22 concept bike

Sat, Jun 13 2015

BMW has been reminding us in the grandest of style recently of the serious clout it has in the classic motorcycle field. Most important is the R NineT that it put into production, but it's also been giving us a steady stream of enticing concept bikes, like the Concept 90 retro racer and the more recent Concept 101 custom bagger. And now it's showcasing another. This time, BMW Motorrad has taken a page out of the scrambler playbook with the Concept Path 22. Based on the R NineT, this concept bike is designed for surfers in impressive 1950s style. It features a single-side swing arm rear suspension, a classic circular headlamp, reprofiled tank and seat, studded tires, an oversized front wheel, longer fork travel, and a raised exhaust. It also has a unique paint job by Ornamental Conifer, and a pair of surf boards designed by Dyer Brand and mounted to a collapsible bracket on the side. Meant to showcase just one possibility for customizing the R NineT, the concept bike is named (and numbered) after one of Europe's premier surfing spots. It is being unveiled – appropriately enough – at the Wheels & Waves Festival in Biarritz, France. BMW Concept Path 22 – The Expression of Freedom. Munich/Biarritz. From June 11th - 14th 2015, the Wheels & Waves Festival celebrates for the fourth time a unique meeting of custom bikes, surfing and art in Biarritz. The festival is a great event that provides a straightforward opportunity for people to get together in a unique atmosphere and express their lifestyle of freedom and individuality. In this special setting, BMW Motorrad presents the BMW interpretation of a scrambler for the first time: the BMW Concept Path 22. Expression of a Lifestyle. The first scramblers in the 1950s were modified road machines with deep-treaded tyres, somewhat increased spring travel and a raised exhaust for off-road riding. These features gave the bikes a characteristic appearance that came to symbolise an attitude. "A scrambler is the perfect match for Wheels & Waves. It's the epitome of a motorcycle beyond established standards and conventions. Performance specifications are not so much of interest - style and originality all the more so. Scramblers express passion and are as varied as their owners. The Concept Path 22 is our own interpretation based on the R nineT. The latter is the perfect basis for a scrambler conversion", explains Edgar Heinrich, Head of BMW Motorrad Design.

BMW calls in 50,000 motorbikes over fuel pump leak

Tue, 07 Jan 2014

If you don't often see motorbikes being recalled, it's probably because there's less to go wrong on a motorcycle. But a problem with the fuel pump on a wide array of BMW Motorrad products has prompted the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to issue a recall for over 50,000 of the Bavarian two-wheelers across America.
The issue revolves around the fuel pump flange on R-model, K-model, S 1000 and HP2 motorcycles built as far back, in some cases, to 2005 and as recent as 2012, depending on the model. The flange was found to be prone to crack and leak fuel, which NHTSA evaluated as a fire risk. As a result, precisely 50,184 such motorbikes are being recalled to have their flanges reinforced or, where necessary, to replace the entire fuel pump. If you're the owner of such a Bimmer bike, expect a call from your dealer sometime next month, but you can read the full notice below.
