Up for sale is my 2006 BMW E60 M5 with 64,000 miles. I have owned her for about 4 years now. I hate to sell her, but with the new baby I need get something more "kid friendly".
I have all the service records of everything I have had done to the car. All of the normal things that go wrong with the E60 M5 have already been done. New Clutch and Flywheel ~50,000 miles The clutch on these cars in computer controlled. They last about 50,000 miles. This was replaced by the dealership before I took ownership. If you are looking at other M5s, make sure this has been done. It costs over $4,000! Belts and Hoses ~55,000 miles The belts and a couple steering hoses were replaced under general maintenance. New Front and Rear Brakes ~60,000 miles The front and rear brakes have been replaced. The discs on the front were replaced with factory cross drilled rotors. Front Bushings ~60,000 miles All the front bushings were replaced to tighten up the front. Rear Tires ~60,000 miles The rear tires were replaced with 305/30-19. They are a touch wider than factory, but just slim enough not to rub. Brake Fluid ~64,000 miles The brake fluid was flushed out when the light came on. Probably not necessary, but it was already in for a rear ball joint that was loose and got a 4-wheel alignment when that part was replaced. BMW recommends the oil be changed at 14,000 mile increments according to the on board computer. I have been changing the oil at around 3,000 mile intervals. The car also has the halo lights replaced with white instead of the old looking yellow lamps and I just put new wipers on the car. It has an exhaust system and lowering springs that were installed before I purchased the car. The exhaust really opens up the sound of the V10, but keeps it quiet enough that the neighbors won't hate you. The wheels were sold to me as powder coated factory 19" wheels. They look great, but have a few rock chips in them but have never been curbed or bent. Looking at the chips, I believe the wheels might be just factory wheels painted black. The paint has some oxidation on the hood, roof and trunk lid from the Florida sun. A good waxing keeps it looking great. It has a few rock chips and dings as expected on a 7 year old car. The only noticeable one is on the drivers door smaller than a dime. It looks as if it was touched up at one point and through the years of washing has revealed itself. The interior has no rips or scuffs on the leather. The drivers seat looks great and the back seats look perfect. The passenger seat has slight wrinkles as visible in the picture. The metal trim has a ding as shown on the picture and the rubber coating on some of the plastic pieces is peeling in a few places as it does in every BMW. Please Call or Text me with any questions at 954-812-0844. The car is available to show at anytime. |

BMW recalling 1 Series ActiveE over bad drivetrain housing
Wed, 30 Jan 2013There are always growing pains when automakers introduce new technologies. BMW is learning this with the electric powetrain used on the 2011 BMW ActiveE. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, about half of the all-electric 1 Series coupes currently in the hands of the public are being recalled for a potential problem that could leave the cars stranded.
With 700 ActiveE models running around the US, 360 of these cars have insufficient sealing between the electric motor and transmission, which could lead to premature wear to the connection between the two, which in turn could result in a loss of propulsion. BMW started notifying affected owners by phone earlier this month.
While no automaker wants a recall on its hands, it's much better for BMW to learn such a lesson now on the low-production, lease-only ActiveE ahead of the car's successor, the BMW i3, which is expected to be a much higher-volume EV. Scroll down for the official recall notification.
Consumer Reports no longer recommends Honda Civic
Mon, Oct 24 2016Consumer Reports annual Car Reliability Survey is out, and yes, there are some big surprises. First and foremost? The venerable publication no longer recommends the Honda Civic. In fact, aside from the walking-dead CR-Z and limited-release Clarity fuel-cell car, the Civic is the only Honda to miss out on CR's prestigious nod. At the opposite end there's a surprise as well – Toyota and Lexus remain the most reliable brands on the market, but Buick cracked the top three. That's up from seventh last year, and the first time for an American brand to stand on the Consumer Reports podium. Mazda's entire lineup earned Recommended checks as well. Consumer Reports dinged the Civic for its "infuriating" touch-screen radio, lack of driver lumbar adjustability, the limited selection of cars on dealer lots fitted with Honda's popular Sensing system, and the company's decision to offer LaneWatch instead of a full-tilt blind-spot monitoring system. Its score? A lowly 58. The Civic isn't the only surprise drop from CR's Recommended ranks. The Audi A3, Ford F-150, Subaru WRX/STI, and Volkswagen Jetta, GTI, and Passat all lost the Consumer Reports' checkmark. On the flipside, a number of popular vehicles graduated to the Recommended ranks, including the BMW X5, Chevrolet Camaro, Corvette, and Cruze, Hyundai Santa Fe, Porsche Macan, and Tesla Model S. Perhaps the biggest surprise is the hilariously recall-prone Ford Escape getting a Recommended check – considering the popularity of Ford's small crossover, this is likely a coup for the brand, as it puts the Escape on a level playing field with the Recommended Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Nissan Rogue. While Ford is probably happy to see CR promote the Escape, the list wasn't as kind for every brand. For example, of the entire Fiat Chrysler Automobiles catalog, the ancient Chrysler 300 was the only car to score a check – there wasn't a single Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Maserati, or Ram on the list. That hurts. FCA isn't alone at the low end, either. GMC, Jaguar Land Rover, Mini, and Mitsubishi don't have a vehicle on CR's list between them, while brands like Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Nissan, Lincoln, Infiniti, and Cadillac only have a few models each. You can check out Consumer Reports entire reliability roundup, even without a subscription, here.
