You can see the manual transmission has been replaced recently.   This was done because it kept popping out of gear.  We replaced the transmission in November 2013.  It is a brand new BMW transmission.  Parts and labor was right around $7000.  The clutch had been replaced in March of 2013.

Other items that have been replaced in the past are:

  • Front wheels bearings

  • AC blower assembly

  • Rear engine seal

  • Front transmission seal

  • Guibo and center bearing

  • Clutch master and slave cylinders.

  • Front and rear shocks/strut assemblies, mounts, bump stops and dust boots.

  • Belts/pulleys

  • Tires are only worn about 10% on the front and 50% in the rear.

  • All brakes are about 10% worn

  • Radiator, expansion tank, front hoses.

Things I know that will need attention in the future:

  • Minor play in torsional bushings

  • Constant pressure valve is starting to seep a little bit

  • Oil filter housing is seeping a bit.

  • Some scratches on the front bumper.  Some will buff out (by the wheel well on the left front), the bottom underside is more significant.  Probably from parking too close on a curb.

  • There is wear on the driver seat bolster and the arm rest.

I guess that is about it.  Ive got fully liberty to negotiate on this thing.  I know with as good of shape as it is in, we will probably hold out for someone willing to pay on the higher end.  We want cash in hand at pick up, no checks or money orders of course.  Keep this in mind if you are thinking of shipping it because you will need to fly down and pick it up and drive it home.  I have the title in hand, signed.  A bill of sale will be signed as well at pick up.

Thanks for looking, let me know if you have questions.

2016 BMW X5 M is big and bold, not beautiful

Wed, 19 Nov 2014

Awesome as it is, the BMW X5 M has never really been an attractive machine. Big and bulgy are the themes here, and that's only more pronounced with the X5's most recent refresh. But no matter, the X5 M has never been about looks - for this machine, it's all about performance, and BMW's hi-po crossover absolutely delivers in this regard.
Under the hood is the familiar 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V8, though power has been boosted to 567 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque - healthy increases of 12 and 53, respectively, compared to the outgoing model. Hitting 60 miles per hour is said to take just four seconds, which is damn impressive considering this thing weighs well over 5,000 pounds.
But the X5 M has always been shockingly good to drive, with limits you'll never reach except in the most hardcore track scenarios (which we'd really like to see, by the way). It's not the prettiest thing ever, but that's okay. It's not exactly cheap, though, with prices starting at $99,650. Woof.

On Location in Mexico with the BMW 3 Series and X1

Mon, Nov 16 2015

Back in October, I traveled to Mexico with BMW to drive the new X1 crossover and the updated 3 Series sedan, specifically the new 340i. I wasn't surprised to see freshly paved roads and beautiful scenery, both of which are staples of the new-car launch. What we don't usually find are car-sized boulders blocking entire lanes of travel, goats as surprise traffic obstacles, and roads that turn to dirt with little warning. In hindsight, maybe the boulders have something to do with the fresh pavement. All that made the drive from our hotel on the edge of Copper Canyon to a little town called Batopilas more interesting than the normal A-to-B. Getting to and from the hotel was its own adventurous challenge, requiring my first and second flights in a Cessna. I managed to escape with my life and some video of the experience, and it's all edited for you above. Enjoy. BMW Crossover Luxury Videos Original Video Sedan
