1998 BMW M3 sedan in ultra rare Techno Violet metallic over black leather. NO SUNROOF!  You are looking at the very best M3 sedan anywhere, hands down.  I bought the car from a fellow BMW enthusiast and BMW CCA member over ten years ago.  I subsequently sold it to a friend/client who proceeded to invest over $50k in performance modifications including a complete Dinan S3 kit.  All performance work was done at 59,200 miles in May 2003.  I re-acquired the car and the reality is that I already have too many cars.

Dinan S3 includes

1.  Dinan Supercharger
2.  Dinan Throttle Body
3.  Dinan Exhaust
4.  Dinan Stage 3 suspension including Dinan/Koni shocks and Dinan springs
5.  Dinan Front and rear strut and shock tower braces

HRE  547R wheel set with 18x8 and 18x9

Separately, a port and polish on the cylinder head was done to improve air flow.  A custom aluminum radiator was also installed. VDO oil temperature, oil pressure, and supercharger boost gauge cluster sit below the on board computer.

Also installed are a Dinan fuel rail cover and engine cover, both in carbon fiber.

Brembo big brake kit, front and rear installed at 59,500 miles in June 2003.

Aftermarket Xenon headlights installed 69,960 miles 11/30/12.

This car as you can see in the pics, it is virtually showroom new.  Never tracked or abused.  The leather still is still soft and smells new as well.  NO leaks!

No expense spared on maintenance.  Frequent oil changes and all maintenance and performance work performed at Avus Autosport in Glendale, CA.

I doubt you will find another M3 sedan of this caliber anywhere.  This car is for the most discriminating enthusiast.  Words and pictures do not do this car justice.

This M3 is for the serious enthusiast.  It currently sits in a climate controlled garage among other collectible cars.  The price is firm.  Please do not ask or offer a lower price.  This M3 cannot be duplicated.  I will keep it rather than take any less.  The car is just incredible, one of the best all around cars I have ever experienced.

BMW i3 REx can be hacked to offer more miles, AM radio

Wed, Sep 2 2015

If you're a BMW i3 REx owner who's willing to risk voiding your warranty, there's a low-level hack that offers up an interesting question. Which is worth more, an extra 20 miles or so of range from the gas-powered range extender or the ability to listen to local sports, like, for example, the iconic Vin Scully on Los Angeles Dodger broadcasts? The choice might be easy for Dodger fans, but it could be a bit more challenging anyone ready to make a road trip. The i3 REx is considered a zero-emissions vehicle under the odd rules from the California Air Resources Board (an important category for automakers) because the miles provided by the gas-powered range extender are about equal to the single-charge range of the vehicle's battery, Green Car Reports says. Some enterprising folks have figured out how to modify the software to tweak the car's capabilities. That means that instead of being able to put in only 1.9 gallons of fuel at a time into the tank, you can put in 2.4 gallons, allowing for that extra 20 miles of driving range. Additionally, the i3 REx's software suppresses AM radio because of potential electromagnetic interference from the electric drivetrain. But, again, that can be reversed with a few tweaks to the software. We need to give out a warning, though: messing with these sorts of software settings is a good way to void your warranty. So, if you're in LA and thinking about enjoying that Dodger (or, dare we say, Giant) broadcast and a few extra driving miles, make sure to figure in all of the factors. Orlando Bloom gets custom BMW S 1000 R by Deus Ex Machina

Tue, May 19 2015

Gearheads can meet in the most unlikely of places. Take Orlando Bloom and Michael "Woolie" Woolaway. One was starring in a film where the other was working as a gaffer – we'll let you figure out which was which – and a friendship was kindled over their love for motorcycles. As it turns out, Bloom is a bit of a BMW bike enthusiast, and Woolie is the head of the famous Deus Ex Machina custom shop in Venice. The pair teamed up to create a custom four-cylinder Bimmer bike for Bloom based on the S 1000 R, and took it into the Malibu Hills for its first shakedown. Considering the Hollywood setting where they met, it should come as little surprise that they brought a film crew along to artfully document the experience, which you can watch in the four-minute clip above. BMW Motorrad and Orlando Bloom present the BMW S 1000 R Custom. Michael "Woolie" Woolaway from Deus Ex Machina turns Orlando Bloom's vision of a custom bike into reality. Munich/Los Angeles. Everyone knows Orlando Bloom as a successful actor, but not everyone knows about his passion for motorbikes. As a long-standing fan of BMW motorcycles, Orlando Bloom owns and rides a number of BMW models, including old classics. For his own custom bike project he specifically chose the BMW S 1000 R. He asked his good friend, Michael "Woolie" Woolaway, head of the Deus Ex Machina custom shop in Venice, CA, USA, to work with him to bring his custom S 1000 R vision into reality. The result of the cooperation, is a stunning one-off 4 cylinder bike. The S 1000 R Custom and Orlando Bloom had their first test ride in the Malibu Hills while shooting "4CYL", a production by Arthur de Kersauson and Clement Beauvais in cooperation with BMW Motorrad.
