Up for sale today is the last  car from the estate of the late ( name removed at request of wife) Bill as his friends called him was the driving force that pioneered  his small family owned insurance business into the nation's largest privately held wholesale insurance brokerage. Due to his success in business and love for cars and motorcycles he had a large collection of high end vehicles including Shelby's, Viper's Porsche's , Audi 's , BMW's just to name a few. I always told him he could sell tickets to his garage, for car lovers it was the equivalent of going to Disneyland for a child.  This last car was one of his favorites a 2001 BMW Z8 convertible  with 692 original miles, no that was NOT a misprint 692 original miles!! I venture to say  there is not another one in the country in this showroom like new condition! Bill had such a large collection of cars that he didn't get to put many miles on most of them, even so these cars he owned where such works of art  just having them in the garage to view brought him and everyone that visited great joy including myself.  This car has been stored in a climate controlled garage under the factory BMW car cover and started periodically and battery maintained with a tender. The battery was replaced in 2012 with a original factory BMW battery and was serviced prior to storage! I visited the car today to take some pictures for the sale and checked it over, it is flawless!! These pictures do not do this car justice. If you check Ebay  you will see these cars selling for upwards of 160k with tens of thousands of miles on them! This car is the closest thing you will find to going backwards in time and taking delivery new off the showroom floor! I will assist any SERIOUS buyers in any way I can. Anyone that is local or willing to travel can come see the car in person before buying. No test drives until paid in full!!  My name is Dennis Kelley, I spent 30 years in the vehicle sales business at management level, you can call me with questions / offers or to schedule a private viewing  at 443 653-5407. This is a private sale, I'm assisting the surviving spouse with the sale. There is also a hard top that comes with the car that is not pictured! I can send any additional photos upon request.  If you are a car guy/girl don't let this rare beauty get away!!!

BMW reveals new seven-seat 2 Series Gran Tourer [w/video]

Wed, Feb 11 2015

Everything is turning up Gran over at BMW these days. The 4 Series and 6 Series sprout extra doors to become Gran Coupes. The 3 Series and 5 Series get weird rooflines to become Gran Turismos. And now the 2 Series Active Tourer has grown an extra row of seats to become the Gran Tourer. What we're looking at is essentially the same mini-minivan/tall-hatchback that emerged almost exactly a year ago as the first front-drive model in BMW's history. Only in the guise of the new 2 Series Gran Tourer, it's been stretched to accommodate that third row of seats to give it seven-seat capacity – which was to be expected, of course, but is still fairly impressive considering how compact this vehicle actually is. It may be less than ten inches longer than the five-seat Active Tourer, but it's still smaller than just about any seven-seater on the market, and to hear the Bavarians tell it, it's "the world's first premium compact model to offer up to seven seats." Those seats are optional and can fold under the floor, and the middle row splits 40:20:40 and folds flat at the push of a button to give the 2 Series Gran Tourer a flexible cargo capacity ranging from 22.7 cubic feet all the way up to 67 cu ft. All of that in a vehicle no longer than a Ford Focus, which even in European wagon form can only swallow 53 cu ft with the seats folded – and you can forget about the extra seats in the Focus. European buyers will be able to choose between five engine options with three or four cylinders and ranging from 116 horsepower to 192. Available all-wheel drive might make you forget it's riding on a front-drive platform altogether (but not likely). Either way, the five-seat Active Tourer hasn't found its way to US showrooms, so we won't expect to see this new seven-seat version here either. At least not for the time being. But we'll surely have the chance to check it out in person for you next month at the Geneva Motor Show. The new BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer. 11.02.2015 With the new BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer, BMW has carved out yet another new vehicle segment. With its generous space, versatility and groundbreaking flexibility, the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer is the world's first premium compact model to offer up to seven seats and fully meet the mobility requirements of young families. Compact yet capacious.

China patent leak may show BMW hydrogen fuel cell car

Wed, Nov 4 2015

A series of leaked patent renderings has revealed what Car News China claims is a new BMW hydrogen fuel cell concept slated to debut in a few weeks time at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. Likely set to be a member of the company's i sub-brand, this compact three-door looks like the love-child of the ultra-efficient manufacturers i3 electric car and i8 hybrid sports car. It's narrow, boasting a cab-forward design and an aggressive interpretation of the company's current front end styling. The rear is angular and taut, and the entire car features an aerodynamic teardrop shape. Despite modern styling elements, like the headlights and grille, CNC rightly points out that there's something inescapably "1990-concept-car-ish" about this vehicle's look. We can't quite put our finger on it, but it's there. We won't have long to wait to see if these patent renderings are real. The 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show kicks off on Wednesday, November 18. You can check out the rest of the patent renderings over at Car News China. Related Video: The video meant to be presented here is no longer available. Sorry for the inconvenience.

BMW pitting self-drifting car against drift champion

Mon, Mar 9 2015

The BMW M235i certainly makes a capable drift machine. Last year, the Bavarian brand had five of them with the tail out in unison in South Africa for the Driftmob. The coupe even proved that it could slide without a driver's intervention. For the latest sideways stunt, the company wanted to know which was the better drifter: an autonomous car or a human. This clip is just the trailer for BMW's entire drift challenge video, and it seemingly gives away the ending of the whole thing. We're sure, though, that there must be something more to the stunt than what's on display here. The driverless Audi TTS from Stanford University was reportedly slightly faster than an amateur racer around Thunderhill Raceway Park recently, and BMW has also been working at this problem for years with things like its Track Trainer. Regardless of how you feel about driverless cars, it's amazing how quickly autonomous tech is progressing – even on the track.
