Bmw: Z4 3.0i on 2040-cars
Chicago, Illinois, United States
2005 BMW Z4 3.0i This Z4 is an example of how an enthusiast car is supposed to be kept. Maintained by the BMW dealer only, per BMW recommendations and always on time.Never driven in snow or rain and covered under the factory BMW car cover when not in use. Garaged if not driven. Because of the low miles nothing mechanical has failed, as you would expect. The only work that has been done to date is routine oil changes and New Continental DWS performance tires, and check-ups. The paint is near flawless with only slight scuffs under the nose from steep driveways. The top is perfect as is the rest of the paint and metal, no scratches or dings. Shiny, glossy, freshly sealed Sterling Grey paint. Black powered canvas top with BMW windscreen for wind blockage.

BMW recalls 200k SUVs in two campaigns
Wed, Jun 15 2016The Basics: NHTSA has announced two recall campaigns for BMW crossovers. The larger of the two affects 188,668 examples of the X3 and its slant-back counterpart, the X4. The second relates to a smaller number of 21,493 examples of the X5 and X6. Both reach back as far as 2011 and up to the current 2017 model year. The Problem: In the larger recall, the lower child-seat anchor bars may become damaged when used with European-type ISOFIX connectors. In the smaller campaign, water and debris could get into the universal joint on the front driveshaft, causing damage and potential failure. Injuries/Deaths: BMW reports that it is unaware of any injuries to have resulted from either issue, and discovered the problems through its own quality-control processes. The fix: Dealers are being instructed to weld a reinforcing bracket to the lower anchor bars in the first case, and replace the entire front driveshaft in the second. Both procedures are set to commence in July. If you own one: Expect to hear from the manufacturer in order to arrange service at your local dealership. The affected vehicles have lower anchor bars for securing child restraint seats that may become damaged when using the European-ISOFIX-type, rigid-style connector, child restraint system. CONSEQUENCE: Damaged lower anchor bars may increase the child's risk of injury in the event of a crash. REMEDY: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will weld a reinforcing bracket to the lower anchor bars and the vehicle body, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on July 12, 2016. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417. BMW adds on-street parking to DriveNow carsharing in SF
Sat, May 10 2014BMW is putting a new spin on the concept of the San Francisco treat. The German automaker cut a deal to clear out 80 street-parking spaces for its DriveNow car-sharing program in the notoriously parking-constrained City by the Bay. Bimmer is also more than doubling its all-electric ActiveE car-sharing fleet in San Francisco to 150 vehicles from 70. Starting later this month, customers will be able to access the DriveNow website or app to find, reserve and park the electric Bimmers on certain streets in San Francisco's Mission district. Once the car is ready to be turned back in, the vehicle's in-car screen will also indicate what "drop-off" zones the driver can use to end the reservation. It's all very high-tech, and BMW is looking to expand the program to other San Francisco neighborhoods like Bernal Heights, the Haight, Noe Valley and Potrero Hill. There's also a contest for users to name the 80 new vehicles, but it involves a really complicated lettering system. "New" here means new to DriveNow, since these ActiveE electric vehicles are really those that were, until recently, used by the Electronauts in BMW's EV leasing program. Since those leases are ending, the cars need to go somewhere. We think carsharing is a great home for them. BMW, which also runs DriveNow in the German cities of Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Munich and Dusseldorf, said in March that it was looking to add the service to as many as 15 more cities in Europe as well as another 10 in the US. BMW debuted DriveNow in San Francisco in August 2012, though parking the cars has always been an issue. Check out BMW's press release below. BMW Group's DriveNow Car-Sharing Service Expands to Street Parking in San Francisco. San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee and BMW Group board member Dr. Ian Robertson provided details about DriveNow at a news conference on ... Eighty All-Electric BMW ActiveE Vehicles Added to the DriveNow Fleet to Increase the Convenience of Finding and Parking Emission-Free Cars. San Francisco, CA – May 8, 2014... BMW Group subsidiary DriveNow, a flexible, premium car-sharing program, will expand to offer street parking in multiple neighborhoods in San Francisco, beginning in select areas of the Mission District and will add 80 electric BMW ActiveE vehicles to the existing fleet, increasing the total number of ActiveE vehicles in the San Francisco Bay Area to 150. DriveNow members will have the opportunity to name the 80 electric vehicles in a two-week social media challenge.
BMW X4 M probably not in the cards
Thu, 26 Sep 2013BMW is preparing to exploit its latest market niche - those that find themselves unable to choose between the 3 Series, 4 Series and X3 - with the X4. If you're looking for an M product, though, you'll remain limited to the 3 and 4 Series. BMW's Bernhard Ederer, at the Australian launch of the X5, told Car Advice he wouldn't "bet on it," when asked about a hotter X4.
Oddly, Ederer's reasoning, according to the Aussies, is out of concern for the X6 M, whose sales the X4 M would apparently cannibalize. That's like saying the M3 doesn't make sense because it will cannibalize M5 sales - the logic just doesn't really hold up. "The question is what customers are we talking to? And are we talking to someone that is willing and able to afford [an X6 M]?" Ederer told Car Advice.
Car Advice seems to feel the same way, claiming the X3-based X4 will share its powertrains with its donor platform, and will eventually spawn an M variant, albeit a few years down the line.
