Selling my wife's X5...

It has no mechanical issues whatsoever. Starts, runs and drives perfectly. The exterior has a couple, minor scratches and scrapes but nothing that would require any body work.

Just completed the following on Aug. 2nd:
  • Replaced drive/serpentine belts
  • Replaced power steering return line and replaced fluid
  • Replaced right front (outer) axle boot
  • Replaced lower oil pan gasket, bolts and seal (included 5W30 synthetic oil change with filter)
In April the car had four new 19" tires installed and it was given a four wheel alignment.

It has been maintained according to BMW specs. at BMW of Stratham (under certified warranty) and two local BMW dedicated private shops since we purchased it in October of 2010 with 45,000 miles on it.

The car is pretty fully loaded with the exception of the cheesy Navigation system. It has the following factory options:
  • Panorama sunroof
  • Rear sunshades
  • Leather
  • Heated seats
  • Audible back up system
  • Bluetooth
  • Aux set up for I-Pod/Phone (or any device)
  • Sat Radio
  • Power, adjustable rear seat backs
  • Sport seats
  • Heated, three spoke sport steering wheel
  • Sport package with 19" alloys and sport suspension
  • Dedicated 17" alloy wheels with snow tires (Blizzaks with BMW center caps...used one season)
  • Automatic and adaptive Xenon headlights
  • Fog lights
  • Hill decent control
  • Dual Zone AC
I don't know if there was anything else you could add to this car other than Navigation.

I did hit a highway marker (one of those little metal poles with a reflector on it) a couple winters ago when somebody stopped short in front of me and I turned off the road to avoid his car. The damage was minimal (not structural) as we only replaced the lower front fascia.

The title is at my credit union (we still have a lien on it) and it is no problem to meet you there (the branch that has the title is not far from where we live). I can get a copy of the title if you are prepared to bid on the car and would like to see it. If you are planning to take a loan on the car to purchase it, your bank would just have to contact mine with a request for a lien release.

It has been a great ride for us but we just leased a new one and we don't need three cars. I was offered $11,000 for the X5 from a local German car dealer (not a trade value...they will give me that amount until the end of this month) but I am hoping to sell it for more than that here as a private sale. I am happy to meet you at Manchester Airport if you are planning to fly in and drive it back home.

Any questions please e-mail...

BMW's fuel cell coming after 2020

Fri, Oct 30 2015

Honda made news earlier this week at the Tokyo Motor Show by announcing details of the what will be its first production hydrogen fuel cell vehicle earmarked for the US next year. As for BMW? Not so fast. The German automaker might start working on a fuel cell vehicle for one of its larger sedan lines, but don't expect it to see the light of day before 2020, Reuters reports, citing remarks made by BMW executive Merten Jung in Tokyo. Bimmer has been collaborating with Toyota on advancing fuel-cell technology since 2013, but any production vehicle from BMW would take place after that collaboration expires. In fact, one point Jung made was that the BMW fuel cell would be able to go further on a full tank (of hydrogen) than the Toyota Mirai's 300+ miles. Earlier this year, reports surfaced that BMW may have a fuel-cell vehicle ready before the end of the decade, and that it would likely be sold under Bimmer's i brand of advanced-powertrain vehicles. Additionally, this summer, videos started coming out showing a hydrogen fuel cell i8 prototype (a rather sporty one, actually) as well as a 5-series prototype, so getting a handle on BMW's plans for fuel cell vehicles is a bit of a moving target. As for Honda, the Clarity will be earmarked for fleet and business customers in Japan first before marketing starts for everyday drivers. We've got some brief first-hand impressions of what it's like to drive a Clarity prototype here.

MW's new Driftmob video shows the M235i like you've never seen it before

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

Last month, we went behind the scenes of the filming of BMW's new Driftmob, web video, bringing you one post from the practice sessions, and another from the shoot itself, which took place in an enormous traffic circle in Cape Town, South Africa. Today, BMW has launched the final version of Driftmob, and it's pretty damn cool.
The plot is pretty simple: just like a flashmob, in which people invade a location and perform choreographed dances to music, much to the delight of surprised onlookers, the "driftmob" features a quintet of red M235i coupes that take over a traffic circle and perform choreographed dances - sideways - to the delight of onlookers. The only differences are that, in this case, the onlookers are mostly paid extras (though there were many unwitting passersby that joined the crowd at times) and the only music is a constant squealing of tires-a sweet song if we ever heard one. Then, after about two minutes of tire-smoking shenanigans, the coupes vanish.
As promised, we will have a more detailed, behind the scenes story about the filming of the video, including insights from Rhys Millen, Samuel Hübinette, Dai Yoshihara, Rich Rutherford, and Conrad Grunewald, the five guys who executed these remarkable stunts. Meanwhile, we hope you enjoy the short flick.

Two-box BMW X2 breaks from X4 and X6

Mon, Oct 12 2015

Our first batch of BMW X2 spy photos has revealed something interesting about the German brand's newest compact CUV. Unlike the even-numbered X cars – the X4 and X6 – these shots show a traditional two-box CUV, rather than the plunging roofline of those lifted, four-door coupes. With a two-box design then, what is there to differentiate the X2 from the X1? For a start, while this is a similar to the X1 shots we've seen, the D-pillar and rear window are significantly more aggressive without compromising the traditional CUV design. That design backs up our spies, who claim the X2 will be a sportier version of the upcoming X1. But while the look will be similar, expect the two cars to share powerplants and drivetrains. That means the four-cylinder B48, used in both the Mini Cooper S and other BMW products, will be on offer at launch. That engine will be joined by turbocharged triples within the first 12 months on the market. An M Performance model will also be offered, boosting the B48's output from around 230 horsepower to an even 300 ponies. That'd put the X2 on a collision course with the Audi RS Q3, although it won't be quite as angry as the Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG. While the X2 could debut as early as the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, our spies claim the X2 won't hit dealerships until the second half of 2017. Check out our array of spy images up top, and pay particular attention to the D-pillar and rear window, to see the major differences between the X2 and X1.
