2006 Bmw M5 Base Sedan V10 With Performance And Custom Modifications Show Ready on 2040-cars
Greenfield, Massachusetts, United States
|
Up for auction here is our beautiful 2006 BMW M5 Base sedan. This Modified M5 is in mint condition. All Modifications are are bolt on and the engine has not been altered. This M5 has been maintained always before the recomended intervals, and has always been kept very clean and waxed with premium products. I am the second owner of this car. I purchased this car from the original owner with 38,588 miles. This M5 received fresh rubber approximately 1000 miles ago. The exterior condition is fantastic for the age with very mimimal flaws and the interior shows in the same fashion. There is a small amount of wear on the driver side seat bolster from entering and exiting the seat but overall the interior looks great. This has been an extra vehicle that has spent more time being cleaned and sitting in the garage than being driven. The only reason for the sale of this incredible machine is that between work and our little one we feel that just letting this car sit would be a crime. Henceforthe, here it is for sale so that it may go to a home where it will not only be appreciated for being the "Ultimate Driving Machine" but also actually be driven. Car Fax does show an accident with this car. A DHL truck scraped the rear bumper while she was parked. The DHL driver had to report the incident. The rear bumper only had to be lightly worked and resprayed. The work was done by a professional shop with spay booth/oven. Bumper is showroom finish. I do have a copy of the police report for the accident with the DHL truck but it was not readable in the picture so I can email a scanned copy to anyone who would like to see the report. Below is a list of modifications and additions that have been made to the car. All performance work and any paint work was performed at premium professional shops. No shortcuts were taken with this car: Peformance Modifications: 1) Supersprint Headers purchased in 2007. $15,000 installled 2) Eisenmann Race exhaust $4,000 installed 3 )Active Autowerks stage II performance software $1,500 4 )Active Autowerks pulley system $700 installed 5) RPI ram air scoops with BMC drop in air filters. BMW says this isn't an Art Car, and we fully agree
Wed, Jul 6 2016The "what is art" debate is as old as cave drawings. Or maybe it's older. That's up for discussion, but BMW says the artiness of this spaghetti-monster i3 is not. BMW found it necessary to put out a press release explaining that this pasta-decorated i3 is not only not part of its Art Car series, but also that its creator, artist Maurizio Cattelan, no longer makes art. So it definitely can't be called art, excluding it from Art Car consideration. We weren't going to accidentally call it either, though. The wrapped electric car was created for the Recontres d'Arles photography exhibition in Arles, France. They're calling it a "Spaghetti Car." Uh huh. Some choice quotes from the release: "Lest there be any confusion, it must be officially clarified that what Maurizio Cattelan created is not an official BMW Art Car. The artist's design will be destroyed according to Cattelan's wishes sometime after Rencontres d'Arles." We hope that means the wrap gets torn off and burned. There's a perfectly good i3 underneath to salvage. "Maurizio Cattelan has still officially retired from 'art' since his 2011 retrospective at the Guggenheim Museum, New York, although he only recently created a toilet bowl made of solid gold for the Upper East Side institution." See also: Marcel Duchamp's "Fountain" for more discussion of art/not-art. Related Gallery BMW Art Cars It sounds like Cattelan struggles more with the definition of the word "definition" than with "art." Is the irony that there is art in calling something not art? This might just be too meta for us to get. Anyway, about the only useful part of the release is a reminder that the next Art Car will be based on an M6 GT3 and is due in late 2016 or early 2017. It's currently being worked on by two people who presently consider themselves artists, John Baldessari and Cao Fei. We trust it won't be covered in food. 2015 BMW i8 sets everyone's tongues wagging in Northern Michigan
Fri, 31 Oct 2014Like few other cars we can remember, people want to talk about the 2015 BMW i8. Drive one, and you'll soon find out what we mean. They stop you at gas stations. They accost you in Walgreen's parking lots. They stream out of neighborhood bars, beers in hand.
At least, that was our experience this week during Autoblog's Technology of the Year testing. We had the pleasure of driving the plug-in hybrid BMW sports car up to and around Petoskey, MI, a resort town where seeing such exotics is rare enough, let alone in the off season. It made for some interesting conversations - so we began writing down some of the comments the butterfly-doored coupe inspired. Here's a sampling:
"Wanna race for pinks? I'll go easy on you." - Acne-covered teenage pizza delivery driver in a sad-looking Ford Taurus parked at a Valero gas station near Grayling (which incidentally didn't actually have gas).
