For Sale is my immaculate 2006 BMW M5 V10 SMG. This car has over 550 horsepower. I bought this car in February of 2013. It is fully loaded and in excellent condition. I have invested about $7,000 in after market upgrades, cosmetic upgrades and general maintenance, still under an extended WARRANTY. This car has also always been garage kept and only driven on nice days. This car needs absolutely nothing done to it. I also have a documented used car inspection performed by Auto-Trader. I am the second owner of the car. Since I have owned it I have fixed several things. When I first purchased the car from a dealership without a warranty I experienced some issues with it shortly after getting it home (hence why this car is a better deal than a car you will buy from a dealership). I had a BMW Master Technician replace the battery, alternator, electric fan and also add the under drive pulley, replaced both belt tensioners, installed new belts and new coolant. Anyone who knows anything about this car can tell you that this is an enormous job that would have cost over $5,000 at a BMW dealership. The following has been done to this car since I have owned it: New battery $500 New alternator $500 New electric fan $1,000 New Hood Struts $100 BMC Filters RPI Scoops and block off plates $370 RPI Underdrive Pulley $455 (both belts replaced) Tensioner Pulleys (2) $300 Blacked out Kidney Grills $150 Blacked out Side Vents $150 Blacked out BMW Emblems all the way around $150 Blacked out M5 Badge $75 Tinted Windows $300 Painted black brake calipers and rotors $100 20x10 rear Powdercoated wheels 20x9 front $2,000 Hankook Ventus V12 eve Rear Tires 275 30ZR20 Front Tires 245 35ZR20 (tires have 60-80% tread life left) The car also has a fresh oil change ($170) and also a fresh interior and exterior detail ($300). Brakes have over 65% of life left. I have all service documents and receipts for the car since I have owned it. I also paid to have the front license plate bolt holes filled and painted (previous owner ran a front plate). Car is in excellent condition. One minor scratch about 1/2 inch long on the drivers side rear door and a minor scuff on the rear bumper from loading a suit case. This car is priced competitively for the reason that it is turn key. You may find a cheaper car from a dealership like I did a year ago but then you may be in the same boat that I was soaking almost $3,000 in parts to fix a car that a dealership didn’t want to fix. These cars are extremely expensive to work on and all of the work has been done to this one. I purchased a warranty for the car shortly after fixing all of the parts for some extra insurance. The warranty is transferable for an extra $1,800. The warranty covers everything on the car bumper to bumper. I am selling the car to free up some money for a start up business, no other reason. Please serious buyers only, I am firm on the price and will hold onto the car as long as it takes to get my full asking price. You will not find a nicer looking and performing car out there for this price that you can drive and not worry about soaking any money into. Only the best and genuine parts used on this car. I will accept cash, cashiers check or a loan from a bank. Thank you for looking! VIN# WBSNB935X6B583968 |

Airbag recall widens to include BMW, Chrysler, Ford and Toyota
Mon, 23 Jun 2014The recall of faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata has exploded today to grow to seven automakers. In most cases, only models in certain high-humidity regions were affected because the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found in its investigation that moisture played a roll in determining whether there would be a problem. However, some companies opted for national campaigns. The exact number of affected models for these campaigns isn't yet known at this time.
BMW is recalling an undisclosed number of 325i, 325Xi, 330i and 330Xi models from the 2001 through 2005 model years and the 2001-2006 model year versions of the 325Ci and 330Ci for the driver side and passenger side inflators. Only vehicles currently registered in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands are covered under this recall.
Neither Chrysler's filing with NHTSA nor its press release list the specific models affected, but a company spokesperson told Autoblog that at this time it only covers the driver and passenger side inflators for the 2006 Dodge Charger in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands
Recharge Wrap-up: Hyundai/Kia fined $755M for exaggerated MPG ratings; BMW dealers want more i8s
Sat, Jan 24 2015The fine against Hyundai and Kia has grown to $755 million for overstating fuel economy ratings. $360 million of that fine comes from the EPA for violation of the Clean Air Act: $100 million is a civil penalty, $210 million is a forfeiture of greenhouse gas credits and another $50 million will pay for independent fuel economy audits on future models. The remaining $395 million is a settlement for customers who purchased the affected vehicles. A slew of 2011 to 2013 models were found to have fuel economy ratings overstated by one to six miles per gallon. Customers will be awarded funds to offset the unexpected fuel costs or to put toward a new Hyundai or Kia vehicle. Read more at Hybrid Cars. BMW dealers are awaiting details on new dealership standards - and BMW i8 models for their showroom floors. According to BMW National Dealer Forum Chairman Steve Late, BMW dealers are anxiously waiting to see what sort of updates they'll need to do to get in line with BMW's Future Retail 2016 program. As for the new EVs, Late says that the BMW i3 sales were slow to start, but that once people learned more about it, "wham, bam, it is taking off." The i8 shortage is a bigger problem: "I was allocated three for 2014, and I have a waiting list of 47 people. This year, maybe I will get eight or 10, and I still won't be able to fulfill them." Still, Late says he won't sell the cars at an upcharge. Read more at Automotive News. Opel is reportedly planning an electric version of its Karl hatchback. According to German automotive magazine Autobild, Opel will begin selling the diminutive Karl EV by the end of 2018. The electric car will offer a driving range of about 93 miles. The gasoline-powered version is expected to begin deliveries this June. Read more at Automotive News Europe. PSA Peugeot Citroen says it will keep its Hybrid Air program alive as it looks for a cost-sharing partner. Hybrid Air technology uses a compressed air hybrid system to improve fuel economy as we saw in the Peugeot 208 Hybrid Air concept. A French newspaper reported that Hybrid Air won't make it to commercialization, and that the program's team of engineers has been reduced. A PSA spokesperson confirms the change to the program, saying, "We are now waiting for another partner to help us begin the production stage." Read more at Automotive News Europe. Related Video:
BMW mulled ten, eight, and six-cylinder engines for i8 before going hybrid
Wed, 09 Oct 2013There's little doubt that the 2015 BMW i8 is one of the most radical and groundbreaking performance cars this industry has seen in a long time. From its unique carbon-intensive construction to its 1.5-liter, three-cylinder and electric motor plug-in powertrain to its concept-car appearance, the flagbearer for BMW's new i venture challenges the very notion of what it takes to be a supercar.
Yet apparently the i8 almost didn't do that at all. Yes, it probably still would've had innovative assembly techniques, serious performance and come-hither bodywork, but according to a new report in the Telegraaf, it was very nearly a much more conventional beast, drawing its power from a V10 engine. According to the report, that line of development never got much beyond the drawing board, but BMW engineers then shifted their focus to both V8 and six-cylinder motivation, going so far as to build prototype cars. The higher cylinder-count engines were eventually dropped altogether after BMW decided to turn the i8 into a hybrid, with the six-cylinder reportedly nixed due to heat management and weight issues. In the end, of course, BMW went with the PHEV powertrain that offers a total system output of 362 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque - plenty of thrust for this lightweight, all-wheel drive coupe while still enabling an incredible 94 miles to the gallon on the EU cycle. Regardless of how it turned out, it's still fascinating to think that BMW didn't have a much firmer conceptual idea of what it was after when it started the i8's development.
Here at Autoblog, we're genuinely thrilled about this new generation of greener hybrid super- and hypercars, a movement spearheaded by the i8, Porsche 918 Spyder, Ferrari LaFerrari and McLaren P1. But even so, our inner-gearheads can't help but wonder what might have been had BMW pursued a more conventional i8, either in place of, or in addition to, the car they did build. What do you think? Have your say in Comments.
