2000 Bmw M5 Loaded 5.0l Rare Imola Red With Caramel Interior And Suede Headliner on 2040-cars
Carmel, Indiana, United States
Hello and thanks for looking at my M5. This is an original California M5 with a clean CARFAX showing 12X,XXX miles and no accidents!! I purchased it out of California and brought it to Indiana. It is garage kept, and has never seen the winter weather. This car is in amazing condition, NOT PERFECT, but very clean, and none of the typical corrosion found on mid west M5's. I looked at 8 M5's before I decided to purchase this one because it was so clean even under the hood AND on the underside of the car. The ORIGINAL paint is beautiful all over with very little wear (see PICS) with the exception of the hood. The previous owner painted the hood because of typical rock chips. The hood is not the same quality at the factory paint, but matches well and looks acceptable from 10 feet. I tried to show this is the pictures, but you can really only see it if you are close up and in person. It is a good color match, and smooth, but the clear coat seems to have a dull look. All other issues are fairly minor. There is a crack and a small piece missing on the corner of the front bumper, the inside rear view mirror has a dark spot covering 70% of the bottom of the mirror - see pics - it is still usable, I'm just covering all defects... There is also a small 2" x 4" vinyl cover missing on the back of the console, and there is no owners manual. The previous owner was unable to locate it. The interior has typical wear for a BMW CARAMEL INTERIOR of this vintage. There are no tears or major damage, but there is leather wear, finish cracking, and other wear from use and getting in and out of the vehicle. The pictures show all the wear clearly so please take a close look. I like the look of well worn leather, but if you want perfect leather, you need to move on to another car.. The carpet is in good condition but could use a good shampoo and deep cleaning to make it look like new. The mats are worn, but do their job, and are not ratty.. The WHEELS are the cleanest M5 wheels of that vintage I have ever seen. Nice factory finish, not bent, very very minor nicks here and there, and very straight. They ride like a dream on the NEW NITTO MOTIVO tires all the way around (less than 4K miles), and handle excellent! New battery last week, and the previous owner installed a UUC Evo3 short shifter, UUC lightweight flywheel, new clutch, new brakes, new control arm bushings, and new VANOS SOLENOID Seals (all performed at 121k miles). Oil change 4K miles ago with Castrol full synthetic.
HERE IS A WALK AROUND VIDEO TO TAKE A CLOSER LOOK.
OK, I did my best to give every possible issue, an honest description of the condition, and a list of current service that has been performed. I am not aware of any other issues and I would take this car anywhere without concern. I just took a 500 mile round trip and loved every minute of it!!! BUT, I am selling the car in AS-IS condition so I strongly encourage any serious buyer to arrange a personal inspection before you buy. I will also honor my description - any one that buys the car has 3 days to inspect the car BEFORE delivery. If there is any major issue not as I described, I will cancel the sale. Major issues would be an engine knock, or an engine miss, a damaged body, or a bad transmission, or, yada, yada - not a rock chip behind the rear tire that I didn't describe - you get the picture. This is a great example of a 2000 M5, not perfect, but I can't imagine any BMW M5 shopper being unhappy in any way when they inspect this car. It is VERY FAST, VERY smooth, Has seemingly UNLIMITED TORQUE, VERY COMFORTABLE with Ice Cold AC, power everything, GPS, CD, AM/FM, Cassette, Power Sun Roof, Heated Seats, Cruise Control, Power Sport Seats, and more, - VERY TIGHT 6 Speed Manual Shift Transmission, Some of the BEST BRAKES EVER, and a gas pedal that allows you to kick pretty much everything else's butt if you are so inclined!! I have a copy of the previous California title that shows no miles on the title because California considers any car over 10 years of age exempt on miles, but the previous owner sold me the car with 121XXX actual miles (as shown on the California title paperwork), CARFAX shows my M5 has original miles with no title problems. The Indiana title will show the car is exempt because it came from California with no miles on the title-- so I am selling the car with exempt miles on the title because of ignorant government rules, but actual miles according to the previous owner, actual CARFAX experts that show history reflecting 125XXX actual miles have been documented on this car. WHEW, I am done with all that. Feel free to send me your number to discuss the car, and look for a video walk around on the car to give any potential buyer a little better "live view" of the M5 running, and close ups of the condition described above.
I am asking $14,500 or best offer. It would be very difficult to find a better color combination or better running and driving M5!! Thanks for looking and Happy Bidding!!

BMW adds on-street parking to DriveNow carsharing in SF
Sat, May 10 2014BMW is putting a new spin on the concept of the San Francisco treat. The German automaker cut a deal to clear out 80 street-parking spaces for its DriveNow car-sharing program in the notoriously parking-constrained City by the Bay. Bimmer is also more than doubling its all-electric ActiveE car-sharing fleet in San Francisco to 150 vehicles from 70. Starting later this month, customers will be able to access the DriveNow website or app to find, reserve and park the electric Bimmers on certain streets in San Francisco's Mission district. Once the car is ready to be turned back in, the vehicle's in-car screen will also indicate what "drop-off" zones the driver can use to end the reservation. It's all very high-tech, and BMW is looking to expand the program to other San Francisco neighborhoods like Bernal Heights, the Haight, Noe Valley and Potrero Hill. There's also a contest for users to name the 80 new vehicles, but it involves a really complicated lettering system. "New" here means new to DriveNow, since these ActiveE electric vehicles are really those that were, until recently, used by the Electronauts in BMW's EV leasing program. Since those leases are ending, the cars need to go somewhere. We think carsharing is a great home for them. BMW, which also runs DriveNow in the German cities of Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Munich and Dusseldorf, said in March that it was looking to add the service to as many as 15 more cities in Europe as well as another 10 in the US. BMW debuted DriveNow in San Francisco in August 2012, though parking the cars has always been an issue. Check out BMW's press release below. BMW Group's DriveNow Car-Sharing Service Expands to Street Parking in San Francisco. San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee and BMW Group board member Dr. Ian Robertson provided details about DriveNow at a news conference on ... Eighty All-Electric BMW ActiveE Vehicles Added to the DriveNow Fleet to Increase the Convenience of Finding and Parking Emission-Free Cars. San Francisco, CA – May 8, 2014... BMW Group subsidiary DriveNow, a flexible, premium car-sharing program, will expand to offer street parking in multiple neighborhoods in San Francisco, beginning in select areas of the Mission District and will add 80 electric BMW ActiveE vehicles to the existing fleet, increasing the total number of ActiveE vehicles in the San Francisco Bay Area to 150. DriveNow members will have the opportunity to name the 80 electric vehicles in a two-week social media challenge.

Reverse-engineering i3 shows BMW profits after 20,000 sales
Tue, Jan 6 2015"This is, without a question of a doubt, the most advanced vehicle on the planet. It's as revolutionary as the Model T was when it came out." That is exceptionally high praise, and it's not even being heaped on one of the million-dollar hybrid hypercars from Ferrari or McLaren. It's not even being attributed to a particularly zealous Tesla fan. Nope, it's coming from a mustachioed man in suburban Detroit, and he's discussing a $42,400 BMW hatchback with Forbes. Of course, said hatchback is the revolutionary i3, and Sandy Munro's statements carry some degree of authority, as his company is tearing apart and analyzing every little nut, washer and bolt on the four-seat EV. Munro's eponymous company performs reverse-engineering analysis, meaning they rip apart brand new cars and sell the information to the world's automakers, saving OEM's both time and money. The most interesting thing it has discovered thus far? That even with the high costs of two of the i3's most important elements – carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic and lithium-ion batteries – his company's analysis shows that BMW need only sell about 20,000 units a year to turn a profit, Forbes reports. While Munro's company is often contracted by automakers, he's gone it alone on the i3 project, dropping about $1 million into in-depth analysis. That's a lot of money, but the company should be able to turn around and sell its findings for about $500,000, with a batch of Chinese automakers already queued up and ready to buy. Analysis of individual i3 components will also be available from a sort of a la carte menu. To see what it is about the i3 that has Munro speaking so highly of it, head over to the Forbes website and check out the feature article and video on the reverse-engineering process.
