2002 Bmw E46 M3 Coupe on 2040-cars
Las Cruces, New Mexico, United States

You’re looking at a 2002 Titansilber Metallic/Imola Red BMW
E46 M3 Coupe. This car was originally
manufactured in 11/01 at the Regensburg, Germany factory and purchased new from
Ralph Schomp BMW in Denver, CO. It remained
in Denver until the beginning of this year when it came to southern New Mexico. This is an extremely clean Mountain
West/Desert Southwest non-smoker car. It currently serves as my daily driver and I’ve had no issue with it. Ithas always been garaged and is in beautiful condition! I’m selling it because I now need a truck.
If you’re specifically looking for an E46 you already know how awesome these cars are. For those who may not be a familiar with it, the E46 was developed as an evolutionary replacement for the BMW E36 chassis and is the fourth generation of the 3 Series compact executive cars produced by BMW. The E46 M3, first introduced in October 2000, appeared worldwide with the new 3.2 L S54 M-tuned engine. At the time of the car's introduction, this engine had the highest specific output naturally aspirated of any engine ever made by BMW (except in the McLaren F1). Here are some general specs if interested: · 333 hp (248 kW; 338 PS) · Torque: 262 lb·ft (355 N·m) · 0-60 mph (97 km/h) — 4.6 s for SMG · 1/4 mile – Coupe: 13.0 s @ 104 mph (167 km/h) · Top speed – Coupe: 155 mph (250 km/h) (electronically limited), 170 mph (270 km/h) (delimited) · Skid pad – Coupe: 0.89 g I’ve included the VIN (WBSBL934X2JR14099) if you'd like to decode it or running the carfax. The car is in amazing condition for its age, but there are a few things that need to be mentioned. I'm not a fan of surprises, so I'd hate to do that to you. Exterior: The paint is not sun damaged and the clearcoat is shiny. There are a few rock chips on the hood which have been touched up. I recently picked up a rock in the windshield, so that needs to be replaced. Also, there is one minor dent on the driver side front fender flare. All of this is shown in the pictures. I’m happy to answer any questions, but in general the exterior is in great condition. Interior: Leather is in great shape. The only notable item is some MINOR wear on the driver side seat leading edge from getting in/out of the car. No cracks, fade, or abnormal wear. Mechanical: This car is all original with no aftermarket modifications…bone stock. Always maintained per the manual. No ominous dash lights remain continuously on. Regular oil changes with mfg recommended Castrol Synthetic. The car has laser sharp handling and is generally very tight all the way around. All pictures were taken the day before this listing was posted and reflect the current condition of the car. |

Recharge Wrap-up: BMW cars to share i tech, Jordan to build solar EV charging network
Wed, Jan 14 2015Jordan is looking to promote EVs and build a solar charging network. The country is waiving import tariffs on electric cars, and is spending $120 million on solar chargers. It plans to build 3,000 charging stations, along with 30 MW of solar power. Some chargers will be powered by solar canopies, while others will get electricity from nearby solar farms. Jordan's solar plan should also help to lessen the amount of energy it needs to import from nearby countries. Read more from Navigant Research, or at Green Car Reports. BMW's mainstream cars will benefit from technology borrowed from the i3 and i8, according to BMW sales head Ian Robertson. In an interview with Automotive News, Robertson said that next-generation cars will use carbon fiber more extensively, and that more cars will get plug-in technology. He said that about half of i3 buyers opt for the range extender and added that it is incorrect to refer to a range-extended electric vehicle as a plug-in hybrid. Read more at Automotive News. The ethanol market should remain healthy despite falling oil prices. While cheap oil could drive down ethanol prices, demand still remains due to the federal biofuels standard. Additionally, ethanol producers may find it cheaper to ship their products as domestic oil production drops and railroad shipping opens up. Ethanol byproducts like distillers grains continue to sell, and foreign demand continues as other countries impose their own renewable fuel standards. Read more at Yahoo News. Via Motors will launch the production of an electric Chevrolet Silverado. The company will convert the pickups into range-extended EVs at its assembly line in Mexico, near GM's Silverado plant. BMW i3 owners in California get $1,000 to delay charging
Sat, Aug 1 2015It's fairly rare to get paid for doing absolutely nothing, but that's exactly the case for a select group of BMW i3 owners in California. A hundred people are part of the ChargeForward pilot program in coordination with BMW and Pacific Gas & Electric Company, and each participant gets a $1,000 gift card to not plug in their cars – at least not whenever they want to. It's all part of an attempt to develop strategies to reduce the strain on the grid during peak usage. The trial runs from July 2015 to December 2016 in California's Bay Area. According to the automaker's website, when plugged in, BMW has the ability to delay the charging of the i3s by up to an hour. There are no necessary mechanical or software modifications necessary, either. Although, if drivers desperately need the juice, they can also opt out of the program for a day. At the end of the experiment, the people are eligible for a second gift card for up to another $540, depending on their involvement. According to Bloomberg, with 65,000 electric vehicles in Northern California, the power company estimates the area has among the highest concentrations of EVs in the country. While all of those emissions-free miles are great for the environment, plugging them all in once just adds to the load on the system. As a second part of the program, used Mini E batteries are being repurposed to create a solar-powered, stationary storage system that Pacific Gas can also use to supplement the grid.
1972 BMW 1602e EV concept looks glorious
Wed, Mar 25 2015Pretty sweet. That's a first impression of one cherry-looking experimental electric vehicle from BMW from way back in the day. Or at least from someone who for a time drove a '74 2002. A gas-powered one, that is. BMW built two experimental vehicles in 1972 based off of the old 1600 (which evolved into the 2002) model and even showed them off during the Munich Olympic Games of that year. BMW strung together a dozen typical car batteries and linked them to an electric motor made by Bosch. The result was a battery pack that weighed about 770 pounds (A quick modern-day comparison: a Nissan Leaf battery pack weighs about 480 pounds). Bimmer recently posted a two-and-a-half minute video about the project. The clip doesn't say how far those cars could go on a single charge, but did use to the vehicles to "escort" long-distance running competitions at the Munich Games, since there was no exhaust to choke those athletes out. The timing is fortuitous, of course, as the German automaker looks to continue to gain more goodwill from the green-car set through its new "i" sub-brand of plug-in vehicles, including the i3 electric vehicle and the i8 plug-in hybrid.
