Here is a rare, fast and desirable Euro 635csi (E24).  Use as a daily driver before it was listed for sale.  For the purpose of California Registration, the car is currently registered as an 1984, but is believed to be a 83.  Motor/Trans: Runs Great, and is very strong! Compression test taken on 7/19/2013 indicated:  #1cyl 185, #2 190, #3 190,#4 185, #5 185, #6 190. Miles are unknown, due to odometer not working. Car has the coveted rare 5 speed "Dog-Leg" racing transmission. AC blows cold, but not efficient as late model cars, compressor is a bit loud.  Car steers strait, appears to have been lowered when I purchased it. Mechanic noted the muffler hanger is broken, and causing rattle. Wheels are 16x8.5 BBS from a BMW 840i. Tires appear to be good for a few more thousands miles. The brakes need service. The indicator light is now on and the brakes are starting to get mushy. Although there is no grinding or noise, they should be checked out.  Body/Interior: Very close for paint! Body is strait, no noted dings, doors latches need a little adjusting, passenger door handle needs adjusting and has to be opened from the inside, trunk lid does not stay up.  Electric: All exterior lights/signals work. Interior lights work, but tachometer is reading incorrectly, Odometer not working, and speedometer seems a tad slow.  All windows go up/down, passenger window gets stuck on the way up and needs a little pull to get it up, does not have a stereo.  This car is from California and clean w/No Rust what so ever! Trunk/floors, rockers, fender wells, shock towers, cross members, frame door hinges are all in excellent condition!  I started removing some molding for paint prep, I have all the moldings, but do not have fog lights, or side-marker lights. The rear is also missing the corner rubber pieces that rap around the 3 piece rubber molding that sits just above the rear bumper.  The interior is in very good shape!  No rips in seats (leatherette front/ original leather rear), needs back speaker boxes, needs carpet patches back on the doors, dash and windshield are cracked. Note: This is a very rare collectors item, and climbing in value!  Major service totaling $1,748:  included compression test, valve adjustment, plugs, gasket rings, rubber seals, oil and filter, and air conditioning service was completed on 7/19/2013.
Note:  Cash, Cashiers check or PayPal only.   A minimum of $500 due within 24 hours at the close of auction. Balance due within 3 days following auction close.  Thanks

Automakers are getting nervous about Europe's economy

Sun, Nov 6 2022

Carmakers BMW and Stellantis on Thursday expressed concerns about Europe's economic outlook, joining a chorus of retailers and others in warning of waning consumer confidence on the continent and hitting their shares. "Obviously the macro(-economic situation) in Europe is more challenging, which gives me pause, personally," Stellantis chief financial officer Richard Palmer said on a conference call with analysts. "If there was anywhere where I was more concerned, it would be Europe than anywhere else really based on the macro." This follows a dire assessment of consumer sentiment in Europe from the likes of consumer goods company Unilever and news of lower spending by Europeans from Amazon. Like other major auto companies, Stellantis and BMW have been hit by supply chain disruptions stemming from the global coronavirus pandemic that have curtailed car production. They have also benefited from strong consumer demand amid low vehicle supply, allowing them to raise prices and keep them high even as the semiconductor shortage shows signs of easing. BMW posted a 35.3% jump in third-quarter revenue despite a small drop in vehicle sales. Stellantis said its revenue rose 29% on the back of a 13% increase in vehicle sales as more semiconductors became available. The concern among analysts has been that demand may falter, just as carmakers get their hands on the supplies they need, undermining pricing and hurting profits. But this week Ferrari said it was confident about its prospects for this year and 2023 as demand for its luxury cars, as well its pricing power, remained strong. Both BMW and Stellantis said on Thursday they had vehicle order books that stretched into the second quarter of 2023. But BMW's chief financial officer Nicolas Peter said high inflation and rising interest rates could hit buyers' wallets. "This is causing conditions for consumers to deteriorate, which will affect their behaviour in the coming months," he said. "We therefore continue to expect our higher-than-average order books to normalise, especially in Europe." He added customers had been unhappy about the wait for new cars, so "a slight reduction (in orders) would not be negative." Palmer said Stellantis was "ready for any softness in demand" but in the short term had been affected by a shortage of drivers to deliver its cars to dealers. "At the moment, we can't build enough cars," he said.

BMW 1 Series GT morphs into production-spec 225i Active Tourer

Mon, 16 Dec 2013

Based on the effort - and money - BMW is spending to break off the coupes and convertibles in its lineup as even-numbered models (like the new 2 Series and 4 Series), we figured the production version of the 2012 Concept Active Tourer was a lock to wear the 1 Series GT name. These spy shots paint a different picture, however, as they show the car seemingly in full showroom-ready trim during a photo shoot, wearing the 225i name indicating that it will be in the 2 Series family.
While it's still very possible that this badging is the final bit of trickery for disguising the front-wheel-drive 1 Series GT, the hatchback itself appears to be the real deal. Aside from new fascias, a smaller grille and slightly different lights, the styling of this "225i" stayed pretty true to the Concept Active Tourer. Thanks to our long-lensed photographer, we also get a brief glimpse inside the hatchback, which reveals a two-tiered instrument panel layout including the free-standing navigation display that is similar to the concept car.
Regardless of what name this new model will wear, expect it to be unveiled at next year's Geneva Motor Show in March before arriving in the US sometime in 2015.

Mini JCW Paceman vs. BMW M135i in family faceoff

Mon, 15 Apr 2013

Over the last year, we've had the chance to drive two of the most exciting hatchbacks in the BMW family - the BMW M135i and the Mini Paceman John Cooper Works - but Autocar has managed to get the two corporate cousins together for a head-to-head comparison. Just like our initial impressions of the Paceman JCW, Autocar has little to complain about this new 215-horsepower hatchback... until it begins to factor in the faster, better-mannered and similarly priced M135i.
Despite laying down an extra 100 hp and delivering a 0-60 time that is almost two seconds quicker, the M135i carries the same price tag of 29,535 pounds in the UK; US pricing for the Paceman starts at $36,200, while it still isn't even clear if the US will be getting the M135i. Even more surprising is the fact that the Paceman falls short of the M135i in regards to rear seat and cargo volume, and just barely squeaks out a win in the fuel economy department. Scroll down to watch the BMW versus Mini hot hatch battle.
