• Montana Leather Upholstery - Soft as a glove; feels like the softest leather on a goose down

filled sofa

Xenon Headlights - Super bright, and yeah, they MOVE when you drive. These adjust to the

terrain.

• Full Aluminum Front and Rear Suspension - A first in the automotive world, this reduces

unsprung weight to improve both handling and ride quality at the same time.

• Intensive Headlight and Windshield Cleaning System.

• Heated Windshield Washer Jets

• Rain Sensing Wipers. All you have to do is activate them. They are perfect.

• Auto-Dimming Inside and Left Outer Rear View Mirrors

• Heated Dual Outside Rear View Mirrors - No problems with fogging or icing!

• Full Remote Keyless entry lock/unlock with alarm and Interior Motion Detector Alarm. The

interior alarm is sensitive!

• Ram-Air Front Brake Cooling

• Triple Zone Fully Automatic Climate Control

• Four Fully Automatic Magic Power Windows -Just tap one or all the window switches and the

windows open or close completely with no need to hold the button. Every window front and

back has this

• Fully Automatic Magic Power Glass Moonroof -Just tap the switch all the way and the roof

opens or closes completely

• All-Open and All-Closed Convenience Modes - Hold down the OPEN button on the remote and

all four windows and sunroof open completely

• In-Dash Radio and CD player, 6 disc in Rear

• Universal Garage Door Opener

• and soooo much more

The all important M Sport Package:

• Steptronic Transmission - Full auto mode, sport mode and also full manual mode where you

can shift through all 5 gears as you wish

• High-Stall Torque Converter - This means the engine can spin faster, use more gas and thus

make more power when starting off. I learned this the hard way. My garage door shows it!

• 3.15 : 1 performance rear axle ratio. This means the car is always in a lower gear than the

standard 2.82 : 1 ratio on standard 540i models. This way you always get more torque at

the rear wheels which means more thrust which means more acceleration

• M-Sport Aero Kit - Same body kit as on the M5, including front and rear bumpers and side

skirts

• M Suspension II - Unique for 2003. This is stiffer springs, shocks and anti-sway bars. It also

lowers the entire car by 0.8 inches. It still rides nice and comfy, and makes it stiff and

nimble enough for a lot of fun anywhere you drive.

• Black Roofliner - Unique for 2003. Instead of gray, the whole roofliner is black. Kind of a

Darth Vader look. Very cool. No, very, very cool!

• M Footrest - Unique for 2003. This is a place to rest your left foot while you drive.

• M Sport Steering Wheel - This is the excellent thick leather steering wheel with perfectly

positioned finger controls for the radio, CD player and cruise control. It's a masterpiece of

ergonomics.

• M Sport Door Sills

• High Gloss Shadowline Trim - This is black chrome around the windows instead of the usual

silver. Beautiful touch.

• Original M-Sport Parallel Spoke Style 37 Forged Alloy Wheels, raised surface polished. Car

came with 17 M Parallel II's. Also, 5 BBS RC’s, 17’s, lovely

• 12-Way Power Memory Sports Seats, all functional. These are, hands down, the best seats

I’ve ever sat in on a factory car. You do not move through a corner, and you’ll take the

corners!!

• Heated Seats and headlight washers, yes, it has the cold weather package, but not a heated steering wheel.  The sport package changes the wheel to a smaller, leather wrapped version.  Perfect, really.

Custom options added:

TEC console cup holder

Black front kidney grills. I still have the originals.

Black rubber BMW mats, plus the original carpets.

Weather Tech mat for the trunk

Custom tint

New rear Eagle GT’s

New rear wiper assembly

1959 Ferrari 250 GT California sells for nearly $18M, exceeding expectations

Thu, Dec 7 2017

RM Sotheby's just wrapped up its auction in New York, where it sold off a pair of gorgeous silver roadsters, with one of them selling for the incredible price of $17.99 million. That car was a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California that we covered previously, and Sotheby's was only expecting it to go for between $14 million and $17 million. Apparently someone felt the car's rare aluminum construction and racing history was worth the extra cash. View 11 Photos The other roadster went for considerably less money but was notable because of its previous owner, late Apple CEO Steve Jobs. The car is a 2000 BMW Z8 that the tech mogul had for around three years. The final sale price only met expectations, though, at $329,500. The original auction estimate was between $300,000 and $400,000. BMW M3 gets throwback livery for Oktoberfest [w/video]

Fri, Sep 18 2015

BMW is ringing in Oktoberfest this year with the special M3 you see here. The performance sedan has been done up in a retro livery that harkens back one of the BMW M1 Procars from 1981, and was even designed by the same artist responsible for the original 34 years ago. But you'll have to go to Munich to see it. To understand the significance of the livery, you first have to know something about the BMW M1 Procar. The spec racing series was formed in 1979 around the M1, the legendary mid-engined sports car designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and co-developed with Lamborghini. The road-going M1 models used in the series were modified for racing with more powerful engines, more aggressive aero, and other competition-spec components, and were driven by many F1 drivers in support races at European grands prix. Some even competed against other entries in broader races. Many of the cars featured liveries with BMW's signature red, dark blue, and light blue stripes, but others ran more unique color schemes. The "Munchner Wirte" (Munich hosts) car was one such example, running at Le Mans with a custom livery designed and hand-painted by artist Walter Maurer. It featured Munich landmarks like the Olympic Stadium, Frauenkirche church and BMW's headquarters, along with a roast-chestnut vendor and an Oktoberfest beer tent. 34 years later, Maurer has applied the same livery to the M3 you see here. It'll be displayed at this year's Oktoberfest, which kicks off this weekend in – you guessed it – Munich. As if we needed another excuse to visit Europe in the fall and swill some of the world's finest beers by the liter. Check out the video below for BMW's official welcome to Oktoberfest visitors. Oktoberfest date for one-off BMW M3 "Munchner Wirte". Munich. BMW M GmbH is set to unveil a BMW M3 in "Munchner Wirte" livery to coincide with this year's Oktoberfest in Munich (19 September – 4 October). The one-off car will underscore the company's ties with motor sport in general and the city of Munich in particular. The livery design of the BMW M3 "Munchner Wirte" harks back to that of the legendary BMW M1 Procar from 1981, complete with Bavarian-style facade painting and blue and white twisted cords, along with depictions of Munich landmarks (such as the Olympic Stadium, Siegestor, Frauenkirche church and BMW's headquarters – the "four-cylinder" building), a roast chestnut seller and the Wiesn-Schanke beer tent at the Oktoberfest.

Looking back at 84 years of BMW roadsters

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

Today BMW is a top player in the luxury vehicle market, but it wasn't always so. With origins as an airplane engine builder early in the 20th Century, it broke into the automotive industry when it bought Automobilwerk Eisenach in 1928. That German manufacturer was licensed to build the Austin Seven under the name Dixi DA-1, which could be had in a roadster body style. In 1929, BMW dropped the Dixi name, and by 1936, it was building a car it designed in-house, the 326 sedan. That was followed by the company's first roadster of its own design, the swoopy two-door 327 of 1937.
XCAR picks up there, and gives a history of BMW's iconic roadsters starting with the 327, ending with today's Z4, and covering everything in between - including the beautiful post-war 507 of 1957 and the funky, plastic-bodied 1989 Z1.
The video, which we've included below, is a good history lesson and a great chance to see a bunch of classic BMWs, spanning 84 years, all driven back to back within the safe confines of a racetrack. When you have a spare 20 minutes, go ahead and take some time to watch it.
