Up for sale is my 1999 BMW 540i Sedan. Looking for quick sale: I am not a dealer. Clean title, NO accidents Clean Carfax, Title in hand. CALIFORNIA car it's whole life. Clean Carfax and Autocheck. All original paint. I found an E46 M3 I want. I have worked for BMW for over 10 years, and have driven nothing but BMW's (I'm spoiled I know). I am an enthusiast, I take amazing care of my cars. When I was younger I became a certified detail-er, so my car is always spotless, I only use the best products, and it is always garage kept. Here is a list of things that have been done since I got the car:
Aspen Silver / Black Interior 115,3xx Miles Automatic Trans.
NEW M5 front bumper, paint match is perfect (the bumper on the car was in OK shape, but the M-tech adds so much more aggression to the look)
NEW 55W 6000K Angel Eye HID headlights-$400
NEW LED smoked tailights-$150
NEW Black kidney Grills
NEW smoked side markers-$30
NEW drilled/slotted rotors (literally brand new)-NEW brake pads -$600
NEW 19" CSL Replica Wheels--ALL 4 tires new, literally-$1800
NEW 35% tint on all windows, 50% on the windshield (very subtle)-$400
Transmission fluids were changed @110k Miles
New ABS unit-$1050
NEW motor mounts and trans mounts
New Sensors everywhere
Oil Changed at 113k Miles
I replaced the stupid cupholders
I also had the seats reconditioned. Everything in the car works 100% (except for the BMW car phone)
The car came with Premium Package, and M-Sport Package. It has a 6-disk in the trunk that I have never used.
I am motivated to sell, and understand I am not getting my money back for the upgrades. I can assure you the car is in excellent condition, void of all dents and curb rash, very minor rock chips here and there. The car will also have a roundel on the hood upon purchase, I removed all badges when I buffed and waxed the car, and the hood roundel was in bad shape. If this ad is still up, it is still for sale. Thanks for looking.

2015 Dinan M235i First Drive
Fri, Sep 18 2015The first rule you learn about playing hide-and-seek is to wait until the seeker is out of sight before you move on to your next position. That feeling comes back to us as we're sitting in the Dinan-tuned 2015 BMW M235i on the twisty stretch of Route 152 near Gilroy, CA. Construction restricts the road to one lane before opening up to five miles of uninterrupted switchbacks. A local tipped us off to pull over and wait for traffic to clear, guaranteeing an open road and no risk of law enforcement seeking us out. Our first turn behind the wheel of the Dinan M235i started just a few miles north at the tuner's engineering and development center, located in an unassuming office park south of San Jose. Dinan conversions are known for being simultaneously subtle and awesome; an enhancement of products that already stand out in their respective classes. Dinan obtains its R&D cars through consumer channels, unlike some tuners that get early access to BMW's engineering for their own development projects. The development process is "reverse engineering," as technical director Casper van der Schoot describes it. Some development cars also come to Dinan through the generosity of its owner fan base. Customers hand over personal vehicles in exchange for discounted products. An M2 is already on order, and the Dinan engineers are on the edge of their seats waiting to take it apart. The Dinan treatment of the M235i increases performance without reinventing the dynamically sound package. As with other Dinan cars, the treatment on the M235i increases performance without reinventing the dynamically sound package. Approved dealers can install the Dinan parts, as can "anyone with a modest amount of technical aptitude," according to van de Schoot. Dinan's approach is to extract more of the best aspects of BMW products before supplanting stock parts with its own. That's why the M235i, like all Dinan products, comes with the eponymous Dinantronics engine control unit that remaps and finds more power from the stock inline-six-cylinder engine. A bespoke carbon-fiber cold air intake and stainless steel free-flow exhaust system add at least 15 more horsepower. The most significant alterations in the M235i's engine bay are a Dinan-rebuilt turbocharger and larger intercooler, which help increase total output beyond 440 horsepower. At this point you might wonder if all this untapped capacity is at BMW's disposal from the start, why does it take Dinan to release it?
BMW X4 M40i spotted testing in Germany
Mon, 04 Aug 2014The stream of segment-busting BMW variants is showing no signs of letting up, and with the latest addition now upon us, questions have been circulating as to whether the Bavarian automaker would do an M version of the new X4 crossover. The jury may still be out on that proposition, but the latest intel suggests that, while a full-on X4 M may not be in the cards, a next-best-thing X4 M40i is in the works. And that appears to be what we're looking at in this fresh batch of spy shots.
Spotted for the first time undergoing testing in Germany, this X4 is tipped to be the next addition to the M Performance line that's already given us near-boiling models like the M135i and M235i on the one hand and the diesel-powered M550d, X5 M50d and X6 M50d on the other. Power in this case is tipped to come from the same 3.0-liter turbo six as the upcoming M2, producing between 360 and 380 horsepower.
Unlike the current top-of-that-specific-line X4 35i, which has two tailpipes on one side, this partially-camouflaged prototype has one pipe protruding from each corner of the rear bumper, but looks like it could easily accommodate twin pipes on both sides. Expect commensurate suspension, brake, rolling stock, aero and trim upgrades to come as part of the package, though they likely won't be quite as substantial as those applied to the X5 M and X6 M.
BMW wants world drifting record back in US
Sat, 23 Mar 2013BMW just can't stand the thought of the world record for the longest drift winding up in the hands of someone else. The German automaker is set to take a crack at setting a new record by blowing the old one straight out of the water. A driver in China holds the current title after kicking a car sideways for a full 3.6 miles. Now, on May 11, BMW Performance Driving Instructor Johan Schwartz will attempt to pitch a BMW M5 sideways for some 40 miles as part of a stunt to raise funds for the BMW Pro-Am Charity.
We've had the distinct pleasure of riding with the instructors at the BMW facility in South Carolina, and we can tell you that if anyone can keep an M5 at full tilt for 40 miles, it's these guys. BMW has released a teaser video to drum up attention for the stunt. You can catch it below.
