Ive got my 1995 BMW 540I up for sale. It was my daily driver for a while but replaced it and am finally getting around to passing this car on. This car is the E34 body type and is in awesome shape for an 18yo car. White with tan leather interior. Great paint with only a few dings. 292 horsepower M60 aluminum V8 engine with an Auto trans. Clock shows 201k. I have many service records for it going back a few years.
This car has had an Alusil engine installed in it at approx. 95k miles under the BMW Nikasil warranty. This engine runs strong with no hick-ups and will not experience the compression problems that other V8 BMWs of the time can have. There are many out there that have not had the engine changed out for the newer Alloy (alusil) but this car has had it completed.
Have done A LOT of work to this car. New front suspension arms, rear brakes (New calipers, pads, rotors, and E brake shoes), Master cylinder, Heater core, valve cover gaskets, water pump, spark plugs, coil packs, Radiator and expansion tank, hoses, window regulators, and battery among others. I had brand new Z rated tires installed a few weeks before I parked it. This car runs well. Needs 1 motor mount and a horn, thats about all that i know of but it is old enough to vote, a used car, and is sold AS IS. Used cars almost always require some work. It was always reliable when I was driving it every day and starts up every time. Please do not hesitate to ask questions about the car and for additional photos if you would like. I will do my best to represent this vehicle as what it is but make no guarantees.
In 1995 BMW did not release an M5 and the 540I was the top of the line 5 series with enough styling differences to set it apart from the normal 5 series. Looks like a beige plague sedan but under the hood is a monster. This car is a rocket and a blast to drive. Everything in the interior works and the factory sound system still sounds great. Tinted windows, power seats, dual zone heating/AC, mirrors, windows, and moon roof, all functional. The only things that do not work are the keyless entry and the BMW OEM Cellular phone which is still installed. There are a few scratches here and there on the leather in the interior but what 18yo car doesnt?
This car would be perfect to setup for Autocross or a daily driven hot rod! Or maybe just a toy. The E34s are becoming difficult to find in decent shape and this car is certainly a gem considering its age. And this one has the largest engine offered in this body!
I am certainly open to offers!

BMW predicts 2 Series Active Tourer will have 75% conquest rate
Wed, 23 Jul 2014In the last few years, BMW has definitively proven that it wasn't a slave to its legacy. In the US, the 3 Series was generally associated with smooth, flat-six engines, but the Bavarian brand dropped a four-cylinder turbo into it. The company was also known for its sports sedans, and it went green with the i3 and i8. Now, rear-wheel drive is off the table as defining its vehicles, as well. With the imminent launch of the 2 Series Active Tourer, the Bavarian's models are going front drive and opening up themselves to a whole new group of customers, so the thinking goes.
"We are expecting the Active Tourer will have a conquest rate of around 75 percent," said Frank Niederlaender, a BMW product manger, to Automotive News Europe. If you're not hip to the lingo, that means three quarters of the hatchback's buyers would come from other brands - an impressive figure, if accurate.
When it hits the road, the 2 Series Active Tourer will be the first BMW-branded vehicle to use the company's UKL front-wheel drive platform, already on the current Mini Cooper. The roomy hatchback is aimed at young families looking for a car that is luxurious but can still tote around the tots. It launches in Europe in September to compete against similar models like the Mercedes-Benz B-Class, but the Bimmer isn't crossing the Atlantic to the US until early 2015, according to ANE.
Cadillac CT5 vs. BMW 3 Series | How they compare on paper
Fri, Apr 26 2019Cadillac just introduced the CT5 sedan at the 2019 New York Auto Show, and it's set to replace both the larger CTS and smaller ATS in the brand's lineup. We have all the details and features for you, in addition to a deep dive with the car's chief engineer, but now it's time to see how it stacks up to the long-time standard bearer in this class: the BMW 3 Series. Now, the car is a bit larger than the completely new 2019 3 Series, but Cadillac says the 3 and the rest of the compact luxury sedan class is its target for this car. We'll dive further into this little conundrum later. This comparison will look at how these vehicles measure up on paper, as we haven't driven the CT5 yet. That will come later, but we're expecting it to be a proper sport sedan competitor with the 3 Series, since Cadillac is building it off GM's dynamically superb Alpha platform. Now let's get on with the comparison. Powertrains and performance Both of these sedans come standard with 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines. The BMW four-pot is a bit more potent, coming in with 18 more horsepower and 37 pound-feet of torque more than the Cadillac. Here's our driving review of the BMW. The only upgrade engine for both available initially are turbocharged six-cylinders. BMW offers up its revised inline-six, while Cadillac offers a V6. These six-cylinders are both 3.0 liters. Cadillac bests the BMW in brute torque by 31 pound-feet, but BMW takes the horsepower prize, making 47 more ponies. It's hard to say which car will actually be faster to 60 mph — they'll probably end up being about the same once official numbers are out. This segment used to be one guaranteed to offer a manual transmission, but that's not the case anymore. Neither Cadillac nor BMW will offer a manual to start, but expect to see the stick shift return to higher performance models of each car. For now, they both get torque-converter-style automatic transmissions. One dimension that isn't going away from either anytime soon is rear-wheel drive. Both cars offer rear-wheel and all-wheel drive in every spec available. Fuel economy for the 3 Series is impressive at 30 mpg combined with the four-cylinder. We'll have to wait and see if Cadillac can challenge that figure with its less powerful engine. Size and practicality Here's where a lot of the confusion about the Cadillac CT5 sets in. The CT5 is a tad larger than the 3 Series in its exterior dimensions, but the interior specs are nearly identical.
Mini Vision Next 100 Concept: It's the autonomy, stupid
Thu, Jun 16 2016The concepts that Mini and Rolls-Royce showed off today – the Vision Next 100 Concept and 103EX, respectively – are all about autonomy. The Rolls-Royce doesn't even have a place for a "driver." And even though both are very much blue sky concepts, corporate parent BMW thinks it will make fully-autonomous cars within the next five years. That's according to Peter Schwarzenbauer, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, MINI, BMW Motorrad, Rolls-Royce, and Aftersales BMW Group, who also told us that both cars, at least in concept, are fully electric. The Rolls-Royce has dual-drive, 250kw motors mounted fore-and aft, on front and rear axles. While the Rolls is clearly a luxury concept for the monied few, the Mini is very much focused on a shared economy. Holger Hampf, Head of User Experience, BMW Group, said the chief design challenge of a car-sharing world is producing a car that could in theory mean different things to different borrowers. You get exclusivity because each car would morph according to the borrower's desires. BMW/Mini already have a car-sharing program in London called DriveNow, and a pilot program in Seattle called ReachNow, focused on the idea of shared exclusivity. ReachNow, which allows Mini/BMW owners to lend their cars out in an AirBnB-type scheme or to borrow "fleet-style cars," are immutable – however the car that was ordered is what the borrower or the owner will get. That's great if you're the owner, but it's also challenging for both anyone who'd buy that car used or for anyone borrowing the car. And if the future of most cars is a shared model (Ford is now offering multi-person leases among up to six buyers in a pilot program in Austin, Texas), customization is impossible. The result is what Schwarzenbauer derogatorily calls "normed." He says carmakers have to relearn to brand for a world where ownership is devalued but customization is key. To that end the MINI VISION NEXT 100 is "skinned." We've seen this before with the BMW NEXT concept that was revealed at the NY Auto Show this past spring, and the idea is to use the exterior of the car as a canvass that changes according to setting. Indeed Mini envisions that in a multi-driver household, the vehicle's customization could easily include changing colors according to driver preference – automatically. Dr.
