Up for Auction is my 1990 BMW 535i , VIN would not decode by ebay system. Car has been sitting for almost a year, which is why I am selling it I have too many cars and this one needs a new home paint is nice and shines well. the car needs a general clean up. I left a rear window open a crack. we had a dust storm, the interior is now very dusty carpet is nice with no signs of wear. the black leather is nice with no signs of wear, no holes or tears. Drivers door pannel is in need of some attention see photos, maybe some glue? needs a thorough cleaning. car has a few dings and a cracked taillight. see photos. I have new struts on the front they have less than 1000 miles on them. I will include a new set of rear struts to the new owner for installation. the rear struts are fine and do not need replacing yet. I purchsed them as a set front and back just never installed them. car runs well uses no oil. it has a small problem, I have tried to fix it by replacing the throttle position sensor and the mass airflow sensor. these are both new. when the accelerator is pressed more than half way down to quickly the car will stumble if one eases up it works just fine, under hard acceleration while driving it will do the same thing unless you ease up on the pedal. I have driven it this way for years just could not solve it my self it is likely a sensor. car will need an alignment due to front struts being replaced and new tires these are showing signs of age in the AZ sun. car is rust free. the throw out bearing makes a little noise but barely audible. I also have a spare  low mileage 5 spd trans that is negotiably for sale should the new owner wish it. Air up the tires and I would not hesitate to drive this anywhere in the country hose and belats are good and car starts right up with no issues other than already mentioned ac works and blows cold last time I checked it a few weeks ago when the car was started and brought up to operating temps

P.S. I have the missing trim for the rear passenger door in the trunk I do not have the small trim piece that is missing on the rear quarter just in front of the wheel

vehicle is sold as-is where-is with no warranty expressed or implied.

BMW 02 Series mini-documentary makes us fall in love all over again

Sun, 24 Mar 2013

BMW's current reputation of building Ultimate Driving Machines can be traced back through history all the way to 1966, when the German automaker introduced the world to its 1600-2 two-door at the Geneva Motor Show. The car's name was simplified in 1971 to BMW 1602, and it went on to spawn the 2002, one of the most famous BMW models of all time.
BMW looks back on its past successes in a video that you can see below. As the automaker itself says in the video description, "This series was extraordinarily successful in reinterpreting the concept of the sports saloon and played a major role in motor sport long after production had come to an end." The 2002 would be replaced in 1975 by another legendary model from BMW: the 3 Series.
We'd be lying if we said we didn't long for something along the lines of the classic 2002 from BMW today. Since that doesn't seem likely to happen anytime soon, join us in remembering the cars that helped make BMW a household name by scrolling down below.

BMW i3 takes to the track, circles it in a way you don't expect

Sun, Jan 5 2014

So, who wants to see a BMW i3 race around a track. That's what we thought. It's not a long video, but it is entertaining, and the way the urban EV does a 'loop' at second 25 certainly caught out eye. The i3 is scheduled to go on sale in the US later this year and will start at $41,350. The diminutive electric vehicle has a top speed of 93 miles per hour and can hit 62 mph in 7.2 seconds. We found it a hoot to drive, but we're not sure if hardcore BMW performance fans will totally 'get' this car's performance. The i3 is great at what it does, but it wasn't born to hit the race track. After seeing this video, though, we want a crack at it, skinny wheels and all. You can get a behind-the-scenes glimpse here, where Chris Neff writes, "The i3 basically turns in on itself. This is one sharp turning radius, take a look at 24 seconds into the video. We were actually trying to get the i3 to do doughnuts, but the computer would not let the rear brake loose, still, you can see how it held and how sharp we were turning....about 27 times in a row." Watch all 49 seconds below. And wonder with us if whatever aerial device was used to get the shot that ends at four seconds in was destroyed just after the video cuts away.

BMW, Ferrari, VW cars use tungsten mined by terrorists

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bloomberg Markets is reporting that BMW, Volkswagen and Ferrari have been using tungsten ore sourced from Columbia's FARC rebel terrorists. The extensive story focuses on Columbia's illegal mining trade and calls into question the provenance of the rare ore that is used not only in crankshaft parts production, but is also found in the world's computing and telecommunications industry for use in screens.
The ore is mined by the FARC (Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia, or Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia - People's Army), and exported to Pennsylvania, where it is refined. The refined ore is then sent over to Austria, where a company called Plansee turns it into a finished product. Now, it's important to note that we aren't talking about the world's supply of tungsten here. In 2012, Plansee's American refinery purchased 93.2 metric tons of tungsten, valued at $1.8 million. That's peanuts, with the entire Colombian tungsten mining industry producing just one percent of the world's supplies.
That doesn't make indirectly supporting FARC any more acceptable, though. BMW, VW and Ferrari are all committed to not accepting mineral supplies from the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is also in the grips of a guerrilla insurrection funded, in part, by illegal mining. The same commitment would figure to extend to Colombian mining, but as BMW points out, it's difficult for a multi-national manufacturer to know where every item in its supply chain comes from. A company spokesperson says as much, telling Bloomberg, "These few grams out of the billions of tons of raw materials passing through the BMW supply chain are of no practical relevance."
