1998 BMW 540 - 6 speed manual transmission

In on trade at VSR Automobiles Inc. in Toronto is this very nice and clean 540i with a 6 speed box.  This is a very fun and fast car to drive.  Don't let the high kilometers fool you.  This BMW has ben very well maintainned and has a strong motor, transmission and clutch.  I have been happily using this BMW as my driver for months and only now have I put it up for sale.  This is a fun, and cheap toy for BMW fanatics like myself.  I have only done a couple of small mods like an M-spoiler and also new, blacked-out kidney grills.  It has approx 309,800 kilometers and I have put on a few thousand with no issues.  The silver exterior is very clean and rust free with just a few scratches here and there common of a car this old with these KM.  It appears a couple of panels have been painted such as the front passenger fender.  This car comes with a clean accident report from carproof.  It also comes with the books and extra keys.  Overall it is very nice.  The interior is equally as nice.  It does have one thing that i've never seen on any of the many 540's ive bought and that is cloth interior!!!  It acually is very nice and great in the winter!  There is some ripping on a couple of the seats but it is very, very nice overall.  Everything including all power options, AC, heat and windows work.  The only item I found not working is one of the passenger seat power settings.  The car is fitted with 17" wheels with very good Michelin winter tires.  No other sets to come with the car.  The check engine light is also on.  But again, I have been driving this car, had it checked for safety and it won't need much for an ontario safety.  Lot's of clutch left and the motor is strong.

This auction is set up ONLY to accept reasonable offers.  I will NOT give this car away and have no problem driving it, but if I get the right offer it's gone!  Please ask all questions prior to making an offer.  Have all funds in place, look over the vehicle if needed PRIOR to making an offer.  Please do not waste my time as I promise not to waste yours.  This is a good old car.  I sold my last two 6-speed 540's for VERY good money and this one is MUCH nicer so please no low ball offers.  I can arrange shipping anywhere in Canada at a very good dealer rate.  Please email me your postal code for a quote. Car can be viewed anytime by appointment only at my lot at 1974 Dundas St. West.  Always best to call first.  This car is selling as-is where it is.  My company policy is to not safety or etest any old cars.

Thanks for looking,

Vasco,

BMW 2 Series Active Tourer corners surprisingly flat on 'Ring

Mon, 07 Jul 2014

With seven seats and front-wheel drive, you might not expect the upcoming long-wheelbase version of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer to live up to the Ultimate Driving Machine reputation that BMW has fostered over the years. But the latest spy clip from the Nürburgring suggests otherwise.
The Bavarian automaker has apparently been testing its new people mover on the Nordschleife, getting it ready to join the growing 2 Series family. And though it's wearing heavy camouflage, we can clearly see from the video below that it's cornering impressively flat - which bodes well for those who'll need to transport their expanding family but aren't prepared to give up on handling.

Dinan S3-R BMW 1M Coupe

Wed, 02 Apr 2014

I nearly shed tears a few years ago upon learning that BMW was only planning to produce a very limited quantity of its then-new 2011 1 Series M Coupe. In simplest terms, the two-door was a 1 Series fitted with a modified version of the automaker's twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, and the running gear (gearbox, driveshaft, axles) from contemporary M3 models. It was also a return to form for the brand. Aggressively short and stubby in stature but packing telltale flared wheel arches that hinted at its potential, the four-seater was a spiritual successor to the original (and much loved) E30 M3 from decades earlier.
After spending a day with the original high-performance 1 at New York's Monticello Motor Club, I declared, "The little coupe with the big flares is old-school retro cool and deliciously fun to drive ... the new BMW 1 Series M Coupe doesn't target boy-racers, it targets enthusiasts." Yet sadly - and despite strong demand - BMW limited the model's production to just one year. All told, only 740 units made it to the States, and each was gobbled up at a starting price of $46,135, a price tag history will show to be a bargain.
Since I had little hope of even driving one again, I deliberately pushed all memories of BMW's 1 Series M Coupe from my mind - until my phone rang recently. On the other end was a representative from Dinan Engineering who wanted to know if I would be interested in driving the company's new S3-R BMW 1M. A quick Google search revealed it to be a heavily modified version of the discontinued 1 Series M Coupe. As if they needed an answer...

BMW M3 driving off cliff is a chilling PSA

Mon, 10 Jun 2013

We're a little shocked that the unnamed owner of this cliff-diving E46 BMW M3 would upload the in-car footage of his accident to YouTube. Not only that, he uploaded two videos: raw footage of his roll down the cliff (it looks like somewhere in the Southwest, maybe Arizona) and a tribute video for his BMW that suffered the most severe consequences of understeer. Not only does uploading the videos leave him wide open for judgment by fellow enthusiasts (just read the YouTube comments), but we imagine if the police and his insurance company somehow don't know about the incident already, they will shortly. Scroll below to view for yourself.
The raw footage shows the sort of driving that led to the M3's violent tumble, and it serves as a good public service announcement reminder for everyone out there: Just like the Spengler's streams, double yellow lines aren't meant to be crossed. Also, hard driving is one thing, but hammering on public roads at speeds clearly above your skill levels as a driver is not only a recipe for legal trouble, it's a script for ruining your car at the very least, if not your life.
